The county graded the road all the way to the top of Hurrah Pass and is working toward the bottom of the pass. There is no better time to attempt the road than right now!
Beautiful course on private lodge property on the Colorado River. The design uses natural features like box canyons, redrock, and desert space. Play across boulder fields, balanced rocks and down cliff faces. Tough on discs. Par is 56. Dual tees. It can be hot, bring water.
Rooms ($135.00 per night, two night minimum) Camping is $5 per person, per night. Disc is $5 per person, per round. Campers have a propane grill, bathroom with sink and toilet. No showers but there is a river.
There is a map in the box next to the front door. If I'm not here put money in mail box on pole behind you. 1 thru 4 go around the lodge and 4 is right in front of your vehicle so no need to carry water for that but starting with the tee on 4 you should load up. In addition to the aerial map that was done by a surveyor with both horizontal and vertical distances from tee to basket I'll give you a walkie talkie and if you can't find a tee or basket call me and I'll help you. It almost never happens, but occasionally. While you may run across all kinds of wildlife on the course the only ones I care about are mountain lion and rattle snake. You see either of those call me on the walkie. I'll come catch the rattle snake, the mountain lion is a bit trickier.

It's 17 miles from Burger King/Mc Donalds in Moab. Take the road that goes right between them. In 4 or 5 miles it's going to turn to dirt. The first creek now has a bridge over it. The second one doesn't and can be in any condition.
The road can change. It can rain hard on the other side of Hurrah Pass and still be a nice day here. There can be a rockfall somewhere between town and here and I won't know. Kane Creek is 50 miles or so long before it hits the Colorado. If it's raining 40 miles away, I don't know.
Guys can show up in a Honda Element and a week later somebody else calls to say they have a Honda Element and I tell them they should be fine. Then they write a scathing review saying I'm dangerously misguided and irresponsible. A week later somebody else shows up in a Honda Element, no problem.
For ten years I've been taking phone calls four to eight times a week on the condition of the road. I have no problem telling someone they won't make it if it feels that way. There are people reading this site that have received that answer from me. I don't want to have to go rescue them. I have never told anybody to try and make it on a bike. I've traveled this road a thousand times and maybe twenty times put it in four wheel drive for the conditions or to save on the rear tires. Thousands of people a year drive out here in two wheel drive so if you read a review that says it can't be done that will come as a surprise to all the people that drove out here in two wheel drive.
As I write this it is Sep 17th, 2016. Three days ago the county graded the road all the way to Base Camp. It's a miracle. Today, and this won't last forever, everybody can make it in a Honda Element, a mini van, and most in a passenger car. If we get a monsoon tomorrow, it will change. Call me, tell me what you're driving, and now apparently I need to know what the level of your dirt road driving experience is, and I'll tell you what I think based on how others have fared in similar situations.
