Pros:
Airport Park is very nice. It offers nice elevation changes on a few holes, moderate woods on most, mixing distances nicely throughout. All of the holes are par 3, and a few are kind of long.
There are concrete tees, and the tee signs are really nicely done. The baskets are Innova Discatchers that were nearly pristine (the chains on hole 1 hung toward the downhill side noticeably).
The first hole is a long downhill carry, that is pretty open. You can play a hyzer over the road, or attack it straight on, but there is a sign taking away some space in the middle. The basket is on a slope that makes the approach a little tricky. Hole 3 is the first of several fairly short holes with a fair number of trees. Birdie chances are good if you can hit the line or get a little lucky. 4 is even shorter, teeing over the creek. 6 is a tough drive, a little downhill with narrow gaps through a line of trees early in the fairway. If you make it through it is still a good distance uphill to the left near the dog park. 7 was my favorite hole, with an elevated tee that crosses an open stretch of grass to a cluster of trees with the basket at the center of the island.
9, 10, 11, and 12 are all mid range throws where you can pick up some strokes if you make the lines. 13 and 14 are longer and more open holes, with a big uphill dogleg right on 14. 15 and 17 are both downhill with island greens, OB roads surrounding the pin. 15 is longer, so it doesn't feel like as steep of a drop as 17. 18 is sort of long and a bit uphill, with the pin under a big evergreen. I liked the carved stumps under the power lines to the right of the fairway.
Cons:
The tees could be longer. I had to start my run up behind the box or shorten it up most of the time. I slipped off the end at hole 7 and had to tuck and roll. The woman parked in the mini van probably got a good laugh if she was watching the rearview mirror.
The fairways of hole 8 and hole 9 cross. It is not a huge problem, but might be inconvenient on a busy day. 16 and 17 are kind of near the camping area and the entrance to the airport.
Other Thoughts:
Concordia's Airport Park is really great. I loved the variety. The equipment is top notch and installed very nicely. The layout is logical, and easy to follow, using the park space perfectly. Fun for the average player, should be good for everyone from beginners to pros.
I scored a one over par 55, with six birdies. A couple of those birdies were the benefit of a kind bounce off of a tree, but I missed a couple of putts I could have made. I took double bogies on hole 1 and hole 6.
