Big Stone Gap DGC... A.K. Fraley Park... Duck Park... these are all names that you may hear this course be called, but I can assure you, they are one in the same. It can get pretty confusing trying to find this course because of all the different names that are used to describe it, but once you find it, you will have a good time. This is a 9 hole beginner friendly course. It's mostly open with a few baskets placed near wooded areas to give it some form of difficulty. Most of the holes are short, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are bad holes. If you play the course with all walking paths and roads OB, it can be fairly challenging. This is not one of those courses that you are going to run out and tell your friends they must play, but definitely hit this course up if you are near the area. Great for a quick 9 holes or even loop it twice for 18. As I said, this may not be the most challenging course, but it is fun for sure. In addition to the walking paths and roads I mentioned earlier, there are also a couple holes that play adjacent to a river as well. If a lefty turns over a backhand or a righty throws something with too much overstability, you could definitely find the water here. Nice tee signs, concrete tees, and nice baskets top this course off to make it a very enjoyable experience. This course is clear of dangerous hazards, and seems to be maintained well. Some branches on the ground, but it's not an obstacle.

Great mid-range throws; helps hone that mid-range game. I played with discs that I do not normally focus on in regular play.

Sure, it's short. You can see the whole course from any point standing. It doesn't get too technical. It has some good tree gaps, but nothing to challenge your skill level.

Really the only course around; I drove out of my way to get here, and it wasn't really worth it. I only liked to get another course on my list.

If this were close to where I lived, I would play it more often to try out new discs and practice putting. It's great for the local community.

If you happen to be traveling Route 23, it's not far from the highway. Stop by and spend an hour. I had fun.

Is this a destination course, absolutely not, should you stop and play it if you happen to be in the area, yes. You only need a putter to play the course, one hole is 300ish but a putter is still fine.

The course uses every available inch in the park for all 9 holes, was easy to navigate and find the holes next basket. It's a course that could be played by anyone and enjoyed. A good deal of effort went into setting this up with little resources and I have a soft spot for courses like that, seems like ones like these reminds me of what disc golf is really about.
