About 83% Perfect as a Church Niner

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 4, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

At the bend of Lemons Mill Road (route 1962) in Georgetown, KY, you'll find a warm and welcoming nine-hole disc golf course at the Church of the Nazarene, where the designers safely incorporated the well-kept perimeter areas of the church property to challenge the recreational disc golfer. Check out the course map at the back right corner of the parking lot (there was also a picnic table there when I visited). Large, level, artificial turf tees can be found adjacent to the excellent and accurate signage, and point you in the direction of the webbed, blue Prodigy baskets. Starting just behind the garage, the flow is easy, and rotates around the property in a counter-clockwise loop, with only a slight 'backtrack' needed to get you to 4 and 8. Variety in hole distances (168 to 44 feet) and lines of flight to work around the low-ceiling pines in the back, and around trees and branches in the front. Even on a rainy December afternoon, it was a fun, fairly 'pretty', and quick throw, not far from interstate 75. I enjoyed hole three (a low shot if you choose to line it under the pine branches or a left to right in that sweet 200 foot range), and also hole 7 (which incorporates all they really had of rolling elevation to glide out diagonally from the front of the church).

Cons:

I say 83% perfect because they did choose to throw hole 8 diagonally out across the entry drive, and toward a fairly busy roadway. The flow of the hole works well, I just tend to focus on safety, and an errant throw or driveway skip could put players out to 'play in traffic'. Finally, as a player with intermediate skill levels, I expect to see all but one of these holes as 'reachable', so if you've a bigger arm and want to bomb a tee shot here and there, you won't find that option here.

Other Thoughts:

If, for some weird reason, you find your tee shot or approach on hole 5 drifting over the fence, that's actually not someone's yard, but a pine row, then an access road, before it becomes a private house across that road. You can easily walk around and retrieve, or try a shot from there. Don't ask me how I confirmed that information for you…
