Stolen baskets 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 1, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It was a fun course but....

Cons:

...there are no baskets. They have been stolen according to the park ranger at the park entrance. This was a great course to play when the grass was low and you went with a couple buddies to spot ahead on the numerous blind holes. Hopefully they will be replaced! Clinton Park kept the fairways mowed and well maintained.

Other Thoughts:

Someone created a world of bad karma for themselves methinks!

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 26, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Up hill shots, one long hole, one challenging anhyzer hole, one hole off of a hill overlooking the lake in the background. Garbage cans on most holes.

Cons:

Signs are poor or missing. For the ones that are present, they are painted plywood that is fading and chiping paint.

During summer, prairie grass can become quite tall and full of ticks.

State parks require a day pass or an annual pass. If you purchase an annual pass, you can get into all KS State Parks for calendar year.

Other Thoughts:

In the spring, after the prairie grass has been burned, I like playing this course. During that time of year, stray discs are easy to find. Otherwise, you can look for a really, really long time to find a lost disc.

Overall, quick, simple, and two pretty fun holes. Rest are basic straight forward with not a whole lot of character.

Pros:

This is a wide-open 9-hole course with tall grass roughs and mowed fairways. It is built around and over large "scenic view" mound (hill) that really does have a nice view from tee #7. There is a decent variety of hole lengths here. The elevation was used to fair degree. This course has hand painted tee signs and a course sign by the road. The grass tee pads are in decent shape.

Cons:

The rough has such tall grass and laid over grass that you could end up taking some time looking for your disc or for snakes for sometime if you miss the fairway. Some of the tee signs are missing. It would be nice to get the tee signs that are present up on their poles and off the ground. The hole layout is not very exciting. This course could really use some trashcans and has no on course bathroom, but the park office does have one about a half mile up the road.

Other Thoughts:

Considering you have to pay ($4.20 at the time of this review) to get into this park in order to play both 9-hole courses, I'm sure this 9-hole course alone is not worth it. You should really plan on playing both or at least enjoy the rest of the park. The Fun Factor for this course was pretty low. I just can't see wanting to play this course again at all. The grass roughs are just pointless to deal with considering the fairways are basically a walking path unless you land in mowed landing area.
