Pros:
8/9 of baskets have numbers on top so you know which basket you are aiming for. This is extremely useful in such a small area where it is easy to aim for the wrong hole. The only basket without a number is hole 7!
Superb view. A bit of imagination was needed on my visit however this course is set on top of the cliffs over looking Aberystwyth and the views in the summer must be amazing.
Access - Between March and October this area can be accessed via a Funicular railway, however out of season this course is only accessable by foot and its a steep climb.
Cons:
Tees - No tees are marked, and if I hadn't been for the coastguard from the nearby station who knew the course I would have never found the correct tee points. (please see photos for the tee's if you need guidance).
Pay to play - during the summer this course is pay to play (I don't know the cost) however, it really isn't worth more than £1 so I would have been extremely miffed if I had to pay.
Baskets - The baskets are not well maintained. Very rusty (yes the sea air wont help with this), however there are a few sharp edges to watch out for too.
Other Thoughts:
I will try and describe the holes as best I can.
Hole 1 - Tee marked with slabs, on the far side of the decked sandwich area, if you walk from the cliff edge.
Shoot uphill basket is by the 2 small bushes.
Track down the ditch to your right is OB.
Hole 2 - Tee for hole 2 is also marked with slabs around 4ft left of the first basket and shoots back down the slope.
Hole 3 - Tee off from the faint white line painted on the track which runs through the middle of the course and shoot up the hill to the basket which is the furthest right of the group of 4.
Hole 4 - Tee off the between the 2 small bushes, track to your right is OB. Caution, steep drop off behind the basket.
Hole 5 - Tee is a small raised area next to basket 4, aiming back to the main cluster of baskets. Nice short hole.
Hole 6 - Tee off from the exposed piece of white granite which protrudes through the surface close to the high point on the course. Shoot down the hill towards the shop area. Beware of the path which is less than 5ft behind the basket, in summer this could be an issue with people walking out of the exit doo for the shop.
Hole 7 - Tee off the under the balcony of the shop on the opposite side of the path to the basket shooting back up the hill to the basket closest to the beacon monument. This is the only basket without a number marker.
Hole 8 - The tee point I was shown for this hole was the directly behind the monument. This seemed a little odd at the time as during summer I'm sure that tourists will congregate at the monument for photo's however with no map to reference I used this tee point. If it is wrong I will happily adjust the photo.
Hole 9 - Short hole to finish with an uphill tee. Quite difficult to judge this hole with the wind blowing off the sea.
