Typical city park golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Concrete tees
- good signage

Cons:

- Dead flat
- Little variation in distance
- 1st tee in inconvenient to get to

Other Thoughts:

The course is in a park adjacent to the Little Sioux River, so this is a floodplain and probably prone to flood. The baskets are of good quality and each tee features a concrete pad and a large tee sign that shows the course map.

Curiously, while there are parking areas available for the buildings in the park, such as a shelter and a concession building, the first tee is located in a remote corner of the park that was inaccessible by car, at least on the day I was there.

There was one obvious safety issue (assuming there are more than one group of people on the course). The #3 tee was probably only 10 feet from the #2 basket. Aside from that, the holes were reasonably spaced from each other.

Play of the course was a bit redundant as there were a lot of similar shots available in the 270-300' range, with a token 470' thrown in.

Grass was a bit long on the day I was there, though not long enough to make it difficult to find my disc.

New Course in IA 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice new baskets- discatchers
+Nice new cement tee pads
+Great signage
+Great big course map right at the entrance of the park.
+Decent distance for a recreational course in a small town.
+Easy to find from highway 31 just south of town.
+Not many courses in the area, thanks for putting it in.

Cons:

-The course is in a floodplain and the ground is sandy and that gets on your shoes and in the tees. The course is probably unplayable in the spring at times.
-Not a ton of variation in shot. It is pretty lightly wooded and not many holes force a specific line. The distances are all pretty similar too.
-Not a ton of fun factor for me here. I like more technical courses that make you think about your shot. You just have to throw it in the general direction of the basket on this course and it is pretty easy to get at least 3s.
-The course looks like it might not be maintained very well in the future. It already has some overgrown areas with weeds and it is only a few months old.

Other Thoughts:

+This course is worth a stop if you are in the area. It isn't great but there aren't many courses around here. If you are into open bomber shots with just a few obstacles you will have fun here. It has a little length to air it out.
+It will be interesting to see if this course gets maintained as it ages. If it is maintained and a few more trees are planted, this course could age well and become more fun.
+I discovered this course when bagging other area courses. I like to randomly come across unregistered courses.
