Pros:
Corona and Lime DGC is a nice little beginner friendly nine located at the Truax-Longmire VFW just a few minutes off of Hwy 51. Free to play and open to the public, I highly doubt that this course is ever busy for the most part. They had a sign up by hole one about a tourney there. Other than that kind of thing you'll almost assuredly have the place to yourself.
The course is right outside of the busier parts of Madison, but you'd hardly notice with the nice panaramic views from most of the course. It's not postcard scenic, but surprisingly pretty for this area.
The baskets are, fittingly, Dynamic Veterans. They alternate between red and white ones for each hole. These are nice baskets imo. Not the most top of the line but perfectly serviceable for a little course like this one. One pin and position per hole. All were mounted nicely too. Zero complaints for these.
There's some elevation used out here on pretty much every hole. Subtle mostly, but it makes the round much more intersting. If the wind is up, which it seems to be more often than not, it can be borderline adventerous.
Quick play with easy to follow layout here. This is one I'd gladly play twice. Just a fun, well laid out course that has enough challenge for newer players and ace run opportunities for more experienced folks.
You tee off next to, then throw uphill towards a fighter jet on holes 2 and 3. Legit, fighter jet. Pretty awesome.
I'm not sure since I'm not local, but this course seems like it may be permanent. This would be HUGE for the Madison area since the big 4 are "seasonal" courses. This would be a phenomenal winter course too. No underbrush and basically no rough, short holes. I'd play this one all winter. I mean, I'd have to, but I'd be happy to do so.
Cons:
Natural tees. Not a big deal with the distances required here. All of these were in decent shape anyway. Worth noting though, since many will snub their noses at these. I'm sure they're not ideal in wet conditions either of course, but this is a short course.
No tee signs. Just a brick with the hole number painted on them. There's a small american flag by each of these which helps to spot the tee. Without these it'd be a bit tricky to find the intended tee. All were present each of the times we played here though. Would be tricky without them.
The holes are all on the shorter side, even for a noodle arm like myself. Not really a con, more a head's up. Don't expect to come out here and rip on a driver. It's mostly open but requires touchy putter and mid shots mostly.
Other Thoughts:
This is just a really fun, short course that is accessable to all skill levels. Well designed, great flow and just...fun. I'd absolutely recommend this one if you're travelling through. Well worth a stop.
Great warm up or cool down for the 18's in the area. It won't blow you away, but it's hard not to like. Fun little ace run, putter course done really well.
