Egghead Disc Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 25, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-This is a great DG course located inside a public park with very scenic attractions.

-Right next to the science center of "Pirmasens" this course offers a great layout and plays nicely through the park which seemed pretty clean to me.
-The course map is right next to tee#1 and gives information about Disc Golf and the course in three languages (english, french, german)
-The paved tees are good to tee off and kind of presentable.

-The baskets are in good condition and the
teesigns are very well made.
-Due to the steep hills, trees, mandos, ob's and the clever useage of the area i found
it to be quite challenging.

-You find a good variety of shots needed and
some holes are fairly unique.
-Since the course is close to the science center,
there are some "experiments" (for kids) inside the park that have to do with Disc Golf (aerodynamics).

-!!!Hole # 12 has a disc radar that can measure
the speed of your throw in km/h!!!-

-There are 4 additional basket right now, also with tees and teesigns making this course a 16 hole.
-Navigating is fairly easy and i was able to find the next hole pretty quickly.

-I didnt have to wait long for pedestrians passing by, there wasnt too much traffic anyway.
-You can park your car right next to the course for free.
-Toilets and the tourist-information with disc rental are inside the science center.

Cons:

-The playgrounds and walkways might be a
problem for few players
for being rather close to the fairways/baskets.

-The flow suffers a bit from the additional baskets.

-Some holes are on very steep hills with steep
fairway and it can be tough to play.

Other Thoughts:

I was totally hooked when i played here for the first time.
The landscape it very nice and, the park was well maintained and clean.

The layout seemed to be well-thought-out and interesting.
You might need good footwear to climb the steep hills.
It was not crowded, but there were some
people walking through the park with dogs and children.

The additional baskets are numbered with X#.
I reccommend to play #1,#2,#3,#4,#5,X#1,#6,#7,X#2,#8,#9#,#10,#11,#12,
X#3,X#4

This park might be well visited by pedestrians
and kids in summer but thats just a guess.
Nevertheless, this is a great unique course, worth a longer drive, layout and the location
are worth it.

Pirmasens 2+ years

Pros:

This is a fun little course installed in June 2012 by DiscGolfPark. It's pros are...

- Great course equipment. In terms of signs, you can't get better. Included a map of the hole, distance, and par on a nice metal stand. The baskets are fresh DisCatchers, the tees are made of bricks, and the course map at the beginning is in three languages.

- Nice mix of shots. This course is a lot hillier than I thought it would be and also has some nicely placed baskets to make use of the trees as obstacles.

-This park has shockingly cool scenery for being a city park. The bridge that towers over the course is pretty sweet and it's cool that #8 plays through the bridge.

- My favorite hole was #10. It's a downhill 400ish foot hole where the right is thick weeds, so you basically have to throw a FH or an anhyzer.

Cons:

- This area used to be really dirty from the looks of it, and I think the disc golf course was installed as an effort to get it cleaned up. Since the course is so new, there hasn't been much traffic and it's still pretty dirty and the weeds are thick and painful (I lost a disc on hole #5).

- It would have been cool if the lake would have somehow been incorporated for a hole.

Other Thoughts:

Not a bad course, by any means. If the weeds are cut, some trash picked up, and the course expands to have several more baskets, this could be a really solid destination for disc golf. In general though, I'd say it's slightly better than average. :)
