Pros:
-- Nice course map at hole 1.
-- Variation in length of holes (1 from the blues is 567 feet while four holes can play less than 200 feet).
-- Perhaps the best/easiest navigation of any course I have played. "Next tee" signs hanging from the bottom of each basket. The one on No. 5 was pointing in the wrong direction, but that has been corrected. A couple of tees/baskets seem a little close on first glance, but after several plays, I have come to realize that problems are extremely unlikely.
-- Elevation. Almost all holes have you throwing uphill or downhill.
-- Tee pads and tee signs are new and in good shape.
-- New Innova DiscCatcher baskets. No. 1 was damaged and repaired, but one side of the catching basket is 4-6 inches higher than the other side.
-- Other than a walking path, which doesn't seem to get a ton of use, and a soccer practice field that you walk past but don't throw near, there is nothing else in the area.
-- Water in play on three (five if you stretch it) of nine holes, but two of those (4 and 9) give you a shorter red tee that takes away almost all of the water danger. No. 4 is about 300 feet across the water, so the 144-foot red tee was welcomed.
-- Multiple tee pads on three holes.
-- Practice basket west of No. 1 short tee, but it is now leaning.
-- Stepping stones on the path to Nos. 7 and 8 tees, which tends to be muddy.
Cons:
-- None of the amenities such as bathrooms, water or benches at the tee pads.Only three trash cans, and two of them are at Nos. 1 and 9, so really only one trash can out on the course.
-- Parking is on the street.
-- No. 8 basket is leaning.
-- Can be really muddy. On my first visit in May, recent rains really made some fairways a muddy mess, but on a second visit in late June, almost everything was dry 60 hours after a big rain. On my most-recent visit in February), mud/water covered half of the course and two tee pads despite there not having been any rain in the past four days.
Other Thoughts:
-- The danger on two of the water holes is somewhat obscured. On 7, water is 10 feet away from the basket on what is definitely an ace run (218 feet downhill). On 9, trees and tall grass obscure a small creek. It's not hard to clear (or to dig a disc out of), but if you clip a tree, you could end up wet. Water is also about 25 feet from the basket on 8, but given the line to the basket and the low tree limbs, you are unlikely to reach the water.
-- While there are no "signature" holes (the exception might be the 333 foot downhill long tee on No. 4 that is a water carry), there are also no filler or boring holes.
-- The local home owners association pays for the course (and upkeep). That means it really is intended for the home owners (which makes the lack of parking understandable). Visitors are welcome, but we should remember we are visitors and act accordingly.
-- There appears to be room to add 9 more holes to make this an 18-hole course with more water in play and views of big water. However, given who runs it and the target audience, I don't think that is likely.
