not a bad church course

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 17, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

-nice tee signs showing distance and par, black hole portal baskets in good condition
-some degree of elevation comes into play on most holes
-a variety of distances from 189' to 534'

Cons:

-nearly no trees, few other obstacles
-4 holes with buildings in play
-dirt tees are okay
-pretty punishing wind

Other Thoughts:

This course has some elevation going for it and that is what saves it from being a total bore. There is a pretty big downhill on hole 2 and uphill on hole 3 as well as a smaller hill to go down and up on holes 6 and 7. Hole 2 also has a line of trees on either side of the small entrance road that you throw over, some of the only trees in play on the course. There is an old baseball backstop just before the basket on hole 4, a pavilion just to the left of the basket on hole 5 (and a couple more small trees!), and a large church building that is on the right side of holes 8 and 9.

The dirt tees are not great but serviceable but the tee signs and baskets are good. There is plenty of parking between holes 1 and 9. The wind seems like it must be a constant factor here. There's not much to say other than that. I guess this might be a good option if you're passing through Lawton and don't have time for 18 holes at Elmer Thomas or the University but those are both much better courses. Course baggers and church-goers only.

Not bad 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice Black Hole Portal basket
Tee's are marked with distance
course flow is decent
good use of the elevation
decent use of the few obstacles.

Cons:

Not many trees
Dirt tee pads
Fairway for hole 6 looks like it is marshy most of the time.

Other Thoughts:

I love it when I see a course on Church property. I really like the idea of using a course for the youth groups and even adults to get them interested in the game.

I will say that I don't think this course was built for that. This course has some pretty long holes that would bore kids or people who can't throw far.

Hole 1 is your typical church ole, not very far with the parking lot on your left and a slope on your right.

Hole 2 is 534ft long and throws over the road coming up to the church. There is a row of trees on both sides of the road and this hole is the only one that makes use of them. The hole is slightly downhill and with the wind to my back, I almost made it to circle 2.

Hole 3 throw back up the hill

Hole 4 has an old backstop guarding the basket.

hoel 5 throws back across the field and over the edge of the pavilion. There are a couple of tree's guarding this basket.

6 is a decent ace run down a slight hill over the edge of a retention pond.

7 throw back up the hill

8 throws over a parking area with the edge of the church coming into play

Hole 9 throws around the edge of the church building and is up on a slope. Play the road as OB (island hole) and this is actually a decent hole.

In general, not too bad of a church course, just a little long for beginners. This is more of a course for Am's.

Would I play here again? No, I would head over to Elmer, play here only if your working on your game and want the course to yourself.

Good Church Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great baskets and signs. Most are par 3 but some are long enough to be par 4. Good use of the land and small hill. They keep the area very clean.

Cons:

Pretty wide open with no real obstacles.

Other Thoughts:

If you are in the area this is a quick nice place to play.
