Pros:
One tee and two baskets on every hole
The woods have almost no rough.
Good variety of shots
Wide variety of fairways
Good use of the somewhat hilly terrain
Free to play, thank you!
Pretty close to the highway if you're just passing through and need a break. This is a nice break
18 basket is pretty close to 1 tee
Cons:
Some unusually long walks between holes
The long basket is sometimes just longer, not something different
The tees are big and covered with artificial turf but some are starting to get a little slick and lumpy
Most of the course is pretty remote from the parking lot. If you're in a tournament and starting on hole 6 for example, you're in for a long, uphill walk.
It's very easy to accidentally throw to #4's basket while playing #3. (I know this from first hand experience)
Other Thoughts:
This is a pretty similar course to Broken Chains in Chester County, which is currently ranked #82 in the world. Both are owned and run by a large church, so there is lots of parking, amenities, and the course is very well maintained. Broken Chains is much flatter though, with fewer holes in the woods.
Here, one unusual thing is that you start and end on a fun, wide open, downhill par 4. It's a great way to open and close your round.
To get from one basket to 18 tee does require some uphill battles. #2 goes up a sharp hillside, which probably is the steepest climb of the day It's only 380, par 4, but it's way easier to get to #1 in two shots, and that's over 600 feet.
Hole 3 goes up another long big hill, in a mostly open field.
After this relatively innocent opening, you're in the woods for the next 13 holes, with a variety of shots required to get near the baskets. There's an nice variety of corridor widths, and with almost no rough you can see your disc careening miles off line after a bad tree kick.
A lot of the woods holes are roughly the same distance so it can be hard to remember one from the next if you haven't played here a lot but in general it's all very pleasant.
The course ends with 4 consecutive par-4 holes that are both really fun and kind of a beast. The two woods holes have an awkward left to right curve and if you get off line you have walls of trees. 17 emerges into an open field , dead up a hill into another grove of trees. It might be the best hole on the course, but you're going to be breathing hard. 18 then goes back down that same huge hill, right to the parking lot
I gave Broken Chains 4 stars and this is pretty much the same thing. Broken Chains perhaps has more variety from hole to hole, and there are way less trees, but Harvest Fields is much hillier, uses the hills very well, and the woods are cleaned out and peaceful
