Nice mix from this busy park course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 14, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

This one comes in at a very firm 3.5 to me, close to a 4 but not quite enough to merit it.

The park is busy on the weekends with baseball, soccer and tennis all in full swing but the parking was copious enough so that we found a spot near hole hole 1.

The signs are great, and look like the local Chain Hawk club provided them, so kudos to those guys. Nice baskets, Innova disc catchers that have blue bands which is a nice color for wooded golf.

Two pads on every hole, and while they aren't huge I never felt like I needed much more. There had also been some texture added to these that seemed to help footing some.

A lot of the course plays among these big old growth hardwoods draped in Spanish moss, and the lines are usually tricky, but attainable.

From the long tees(most of which have a bench near the pad) I was able to reach all but one basket on the air, but you rarely have a stock BH hyzer shot. From the shorts it's much more beginner friendly, usually clipping off some distance and a few of the early trees.

The park and club seemed to do a nice job keeping it up, the vibe overall is just very good. Reminds me of a slightly easier version of the Sinks in Chattanooga.

There are also a few holes where water and OB come into play, but in a nice way. They don't feel forced or like the course shoved in OB/mandos for no reason.

Cons:

For the land that is given here it's pretty darn good. There is no elevation to speak of other than some sinkholes that are cordoned off and presumably dangerous.

A couple of holes invite lines over walking paths, but they were not terribly busy so that it's easy to avoid an issue.

Some of the short tees pads are kind of small? Other than that it's pretty good.

Other Thoughts:

Good course and near the highway. If I was local I would play it a ton, and probably had a good league scene there as well.

Well worth your time if you are in the area.

Coral snake 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 9, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very fun course
Variety of technical shots, wooded and open
Multiple tees, easy to find
Navigation is fairly easy
I did not see any of the mentioned spiders during my January round...however...

Cons:

I almost stepped on a 3' long coral snake on hole 4. Not cool, but this is Florida.

Other Thoughts:

The signage threw me off a little bit. There was a 15a, 15b, 15c, and 15d...some of which weren't marked on Udisc at all.

Great Park , Great Play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 12, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Rolling down to Florida for a week of disc golf and sun , my first stop was at 7:20 am on a Saturday at Jonesville Park . As I was pulling into this multi use park , there were already cars in front of me and cars behind wanting to go into the back . Yes , this park is the busiest I have ever seen ( even before the sun came up ) . The start of this course is in the far right of the second lot . No kiosk that I saw , but the course starts and ends within about 100 feet of each other .Jonesville Park has your basic DGA baskets , but that is the only thing basic about this course. The course has 2 tees and at least 2 pin positions per hole . It looks as if they have upgraded to turf tees ( green and red )and good signage, with hole # , par ,distance and flight path . There are some good directions to the next hole all around the course , and on a fence , telling you where to go for holes 5 and 10 ( I think ) . There are some benches and trash cans on several locations on the course . The park itself is very clean , mowed and well taken care of . It is one of the nicest looking city parks I have been in .This course starts in the open , throwing a tight right turn into the woods . You will stay in the woods or partially in for the next 9 holes . There are some good technical holes for both righty and lefty drives . Real fun holes are #6 , where you have to throw under a tree canopy across some plant habitat as out of bounds , to the basket that sits on a small hill . #7 comes back the other way , going from just out of the woods , back in ( 416' ) . #11 is the last of the woods holes , starting in the woods and popping you out to a waterfall descending small hill where the basket sits . The rest of the holes on the course run counter clockwise around all the other activities in the park . There is a walking path that comes into play that is used by some of the locals . Please use good judgement . Your fairways loosen up some on the last 7 holes ( fence comes into play on the right on 13 ) , allowing you to open up some bombers . Depending on the basket position , #15 can be as long as 506' . Tony Pessina did a very good job with course design , keeping most of this busy park away from the course . You can navigate most of this course without the map if you pay attention , but I would print it , anyway . The most confusing part is the walk from 17's basket to 18's tee , in which you walk behind and to the right of the basket a couple of hundred yards or more . Disc Risk : minimal , since the park is so clean . The fence line in the back of the park could cause you to lose a disc on holes 13 , maybe 14 ( on your right ) . My signature hole would be #12 . A 350' hole that has a good amount of young trees in the fairway , and the basket is tucked in on the left , on a sloping small hill .

Cons:

There wasn't much in the way of cons ,,,, except maybe #1 Safety . By the time I was done with my round at 8:25 , this park was packed with cars/people . The walking paths only come into play , maybe holes 12-14 and 17 being close to the ball fields . #2 course is mostly flat . There is a little elevation utilized on holes like maybe 5 , 11 , or 14 , but you would call them light grades . Parking on a busy weekend might be rough .

Other Thoughts:

Just off of I-75 , this course should be hard to pass up . This is what city park disc golf should look like . By the time I finished up on the course it was still before 8:30 , and there were several players already out on the course , and people were waiting to take my parking spot . This must be the place to be during a nice weekend . Open holes , wooded holes , picturesque park , some good challenging holes . It took me about an hour + for a solo round . Foursomes will average around 2.25 hours , depending on how busy the park is . Thank you , Jonesville Parks and Rec for the privilege of spending time and playing in your nice park . My Recommendation : With it's 2 tees and park feel , this course could be suited for Newbies , casuals , locals , travelers ( especially travelers ) even good intermediates . If you have time , couple this course with Northside , but if not , still PLAY IT !!!!

On a trip to Florida, I made a stop in at Jonesville Park to get a round in at the DG course... and I was pleasantly surprised. With multiple tees and multiple pin positions for every hole, this course has something for everyone. Some tightly wooded holes as well as some long open holes. From ace runs to big bomber crushes, this course has it all. Beautiful park and a great use of the land to design this course. If I ever find myself near Jonesville Park again, I will be sure to get another round in at this course. Stop by and get a round in because this just an overall fun course to play! Here's A Good One Folks! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 15, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

A very fun and diverse course with many different looks and hole types. Open holes, tightly wooded holes, long holes, short holes and minor elevation changes make for a fun and exciting round. This course will make you really think about lines and what type of throws to utilize. The course is beautiful and well maintained and features most of the amenities found on other top notch courses. This is a good one folks!

Cons:

There are some long walks between holes. The course is large and spread out but there are navigation aids to help with the extra hikes.

The potato vine plants are very angry here. Watch out if you stray from the beaten path as these nasty plants have sharp thorns that will rip you up. You might want to wear long pants if your discs like to stray from the fairways a lot.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a straight up gem and a must play if in the area.

Pros:

Very clean and well maintained.

Requires a full arsenal of shots: Backhand, Forehand, Overhand, Turnovers, Upshots, Etc...

Several Very Open Holes, Several Completely Wooded Holes, and Several Hybrid Holes.

Short and Long Tee Pads

A and B Pin Positions on all 18 holes.

Benches on every hole.

Metal Box to return lost discs (utilized frequently and the club is great about contacting disc owners).

Nice Shaded Pavillion.

Cons:

Carpet Tee Pads (rumor is that these will be concrete at some point in 2017)

The last 4 Holes have very little shade and can be quite hot in the summer months.

No water or restrooms available without going into the Tennis Center.

Other Thoughts:

This is the course in Gainesville that will make you a better player. It demands such a variety of shots that you can be rewarded with a bunch of birdies or can be brutally punished with bogeys or worse.

One of the Best in the Gainesville Area 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 15, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

(3.491 Rating) (REVISED - replayed September 2017) A great mixture of heavily wooded technical holes thru open bomber holes.
- CHARACTER - I've been here three times now and they keep adding amenities and comfort items. Seating I believe is at all the holes now. Accurate signage, (some were blown away recently by Hurricane Irma) mostly shaded tees, practice basket and a shelter with picnic tables. The course also features pro and am tees and multiple basket placements (A/B). The baskets appear to always be in all B's or all A's so you'll never have to run down fairway to spot a blind basket unless it's your first go around.
- CHILL AREAS - The entire woods portion of this course (2-10), has a good vibe to it with benches and shade at almost all of the tees. There are trash cans at a few tee areas as well.
- MAINTENANCE - The grounds appear to be constantly mowed, trimmed and manicured. I don't recall much trash on any of my visits. Hurricane Irma had rolled through 10 days before my last visit and there were hardly any branches littered in fairways. Hats off to the club and park staff here.
- CHALLENGING - As an intermediate player I felt thoroughly challenged out here. Several holes are well over 400 feet. A bunch of holes require well thought out lines and play threw fairways in the 10 to 15 foot width range. I'll guess that a 950 rated advanced player will throw 3 or 4 down on average out here. The front tees will very much challenge rec players.
- SKILL LEVEL FRIENDLY - This course should attract a wide range of players because of the duel tee set up.
- UNIQUENESS - Above average. Although all par 3s there's still a good variety. Nice contrasts between heavily wooded and open holes, and also a few moderately wooded holes. One shot starts open and barrels into a pocket. Another starts in a tunnel only burst out onto an open field. There are several fully wooded holes with fairway hooks in both directions. Course also has a nice mixture of challenging and easy going shots.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - IMO the most beautiful course in the Gainesville area as of this revision. Well above average but not elite. Not quite Sawmill or Greenway level but close. Way behind the majestic looks of New World and Magnolia further north.

Cons:

Jonesville Park is done well. All the issues are ticky tack things.
- NAVIGATION - A stroller friendly course that's mostly navigable but with one small issue. I haven't seen a course map on site. There is a course map on DGCR, but is not updated to reflect the change at (16). Old hole (16) is now (17). During the Summer of 2017 they removed (17) and made and new hole (16) New (16) is to the northeast of (15's) basket, behind some cedar trees. The rest of the course flows pretty well I think. There are directional arrows below all of the baskets.
- CRITTERS - I've seen snakes out here, but just rat snakes, harmless. However I've ran into a local whom claimed to have seen a poisonous variety out here. I've also run into lot of banana spiders out here. Not poisonous, but freaky looking and large. They seem to always occupy the little path thru the overgrowth on the way to dig your disc out.
- DISCONTINUITY - The journey between new (17) and (18) is well over a 1,000 feet. A couple other transitions are in the 300 foot range with the rest of the layout flowing together nicely.
- FORGIVENESS - I swear branches were growing into my desired flight path after I released. Hitting your lines on this course is personally satisfying. Many nearer rec player who haven't yet developed good accuracy are going pay for it on the woods portion of this course. Growing pains.
- TEES - Some of better carpet tees I've ever seen but still no match to concrete. I will update my review and rating if I hear or see that they are installed.
- ELEVATION - Listed as moderately hilly on DGCR but I think most parts of the country would call this one flat. Probably about average for a Florida course. I don't recall any holes changing by more than 15 feet. Maybe (5) is that amount. Definitely a few holes go up or down by 10 feet, by in my book, that's a flat hole.

Other Thoughts:

A really nice city park course that the locals should be proud to call home. Maybe not a true destination course, but definitely worth a look see if you live within a couple hours. Plus, it's only 5 minutes from the I75 exit if you are traveling through. I currently have Jonesville ranked slightly ahead of Northside but they are so close that I bet there is much disagreement in town over which course is better. I'd definitely choose Jonesville if you're looking for some nice technical woods plays. Northside has an overall more open feel to it.
- TIME PLAY - I've completed three solo rounds here and I've averaged a little more than a hour to finish. I figure a group of four will finish in 2 to 2 1/2 hours on a near empty course.

Offers some challenge :) 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 15, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Extremely clean and well-maintained (mowed weekly)
-Offers both open and wooded shots
-Some varied terrain (nothing too extreme)
-Most holes require some sort of technical shot
-Variation of doglegs and straight holes
-Open field next to #1 Pad to warm-up and practice drives along with a practice putting basket
-Rarely flooded unlike other courses in the area. Drainage works well here.

Cons:

-Carpet tee pads
-Lots of trees/woods that consume discs. I suggest bringing a friend to assist with spotting if new to the course or have wild shots.
-Spiders and their extended families in the wooded portions.

Other Thoughts:

Spanish moss from trees and ground brush are cleared frequently to mitigate unwanted blocked shots.

Lost Discs are normally returned. A lost and found box is located on Pavilion near the #1 Tee Pad. The Box is controlled/maintained by Chain Hawk Disc Golf Club.

"Straighter is Greater!" on hole 4,10, and 11. You'll see why once you play it ;)

**Special Note: 05/19/2017: #17 has been officially removed due to County Parks and Rec land use adjustment. The replacement #17 (now #16) is located in the tree line NW of the #15 basket. There are signs posted in various locations detailing the new location.

This course is ready for prime time! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Very well maintained
- Grass is now cut every week
- Great mix of technical wooded shots and a few open longer shots too!
- Locals play free doubles matches late on Tuesdays and Thursdays all summer long.
- If you lose a disc, you are likely to get called back (if you have your number on it and it does not go into private property).
- Very pretty with very little trash.
- Handles rain very well, and rarely any real water hazard in play here.
- Lots of spiders in the woods, but virtually mosquito free.
- Easy to access (8 minutes and 2 turns) from I-75.

Cons:

- Lots of sun on a few of the holes on the back nine. Trees are getting bigger now so only a few places.
- If you throw too far off the fairways, you can lose a disc. if it goes over a neighboring fence, you can lose it to private property.
- Some Poison Oak on all many of the wooded holes. Wash your hands and feet well when you leave the course.
- Carpet tee pads.

Other Thoughts:

Over the next year all 18 holes will get A and B basket locations, and several will get C locations. Concrete pads, a bulletin board with a disc return box, more trash cans, and better signage are also all in the works. But it plays GREAT now! Most of the older reviews are critical of the grass, but it is mowed every Thursday now. If you lose a disc now, it is because you hooked or shanked it way off the fairway.

Worth a Visit 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 7, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course was a nice challenge for the average player from the long tees. Good use of hills to place baskets for rollaway risks. Multiple basket positions. Navigation was not bad but a course map was usefull a couple of times.

Cons:

Carpet tee pads. Zero garbage cans on the course. A pet peeve of mine. None in the picnic area either that I saw. Holes 15 thru 17 are off on their own around the other side of the ball fields.

Other Thoughts:

I did enjoy this course and will make the hour drive to play it again once in awhile. It could use better tee pads and a really signature hole. The potential is surely there and over time this course will become better.

Jonesville 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 19, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great to have a new course close to Gainesville. Better drainage to play when Northside is flooded. Hole 1 starts with an open shot into a notch in the woods to warm up. There are some nice wooded holes that provide a great challenge for all with the use of long and short carpet pads. Nice job of carving the front side out of the woods. Great mix of woods & open bombs but also nice looking semi wooded holes with pins placed under the large mossy oaks such as 7 & 8. Holes 12-14 play semi open with young trees guarding any direct line to the pin, a fun challenge to ponder. Fun risk reward shots such as 16 which is behind a usually dry pond with marked o.b. Basket #17 is on a tall pole on a hillside slope. The bolted down carpet tees are secure and grip is fine, baskets are in great condition.

Cons:

Rough is thick in summer on front 9. Watch for thorns if you are in the rough.

Other Thoughts:

I play this frequently as close to moms house and I feel it has a nice variety of shots.

Rating: Can vary from 3 when rough to approaching a 4 when mowed so I settled on a 3.5.

The course and parking is free and there are rest rooms by the baseball field and tennis courts. Ample parking and a practice basket by tee one which is at the end of the paved parking lot past ball fields and tennis courts.

Nice Variation of Landscape 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 19, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful course that plays around a huge baseball and tennis complex (seems to be a common theme in Florida). Plays about half in lightly-treed and semi-open areas and the other half plays through a mix of thick woods and on the edge of thick woods.

I was most impressed with how the makers created many unique holes and used pathways and other artificial OB to make the open shots more challenging.

Thanks to the metal "next tee" arrows on the trees and baskets kept navigation fairly simple.

Seems water can come into play during the rainy season, but when it's dry (as when I was there), they have OB markers in those areas. These markers make the course more honest and challenging (though some despise artificial OB). The water areas were only on two holes from what I recall.

Favorite holes:
(Most Scenic) #7 goes along a marsh to the right and through mature trees with the hanging moss that is so unique to the South.

(Best woods hole) #4 - the most challenging of the woods holes (in my estimate), a long tunnel shot with a few trees mixed in the fairway.

Cons:

The walking path on the left of #13 & 14 could be a danger to pedestrians for a couple reasons: one is that when the trees are leafy, they may block your view of oncoming peds; and second, the easier shot seems to be a left to right shot that carries over that same path.

Holes 12-14 are a bit too similar to each other (lots of little trees with a left to right carry being the beneficial shot).

Course kinda dead-ends on the 17th hole and it's a bit of a walk to get to the 18th which is a bit of a lackluster finish to an otherwise nice experience.

Other Thoughts:

If you want to jump ahead of the crowds, you can park right by #7 and start there.

The Spice of Life 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 24, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

There's something about a big ol' heaping of variety that always improves my take on a course. Not just a variety of shots, and distances, although those are obviously good too. But variety of scenery. Variety of setting. A course that mixes it up and still feels like one course (NOT having two nines that feel like they don't belong together) is always going to score highly with me. And that is what we have in Jonesville. From the parking lot to the edge of the woods on the first hole.(one of my favorite ways to lead a course, it just has that hole one feel) A few holes carved out of dense forest, then out to an open field. Back across the woods at the mid-way point before a final stretch of field holes. It's an incredible flow built on a great variety.

There's also something about a course that plays to a certain skill level, and those are rarer than you think. So it makes me smile when I play a course like Jonesville and think, "wow, this is textbook intermediate." The woods holes feature clear, defined fairways that are generous enough without being non-technical. Some good lines, here. Not Charlotte-tough, but good lines that should test an intermediate-level player appropriately. The open holes aren't that open. Most are the opposite of the woods holes, where an open space has been built into a fairway by planting trees. (And this course should be fun to watch develop as those trees will grow.) There is challenge there too, and not just from the distance.

For players of that skill level, this is an ideal, play-all-the-time-course. It's just going to hit that sweet spot of fun and challenge. I do think that the variety will keep it interesting for players that don't happen to fall into that ability category. It also help that everything at Jonesville is really well-done. Everything looks good. These fairways are beautiful. The trees are well-placed. Even the paths between holes on the wooded sections are among the best I've seen. It's a well-designed and -constructed course that I highly recommend for all players.

Cons:

While I do think that all players will enjoy the course to a degree, it's definitely true that players outside the target skill-level will find less to like. Top players will probably find the least to like, for two reasons. First, they likely have seen tons of courses, and nothing at Jonesville will be novel for them. Second, Their skills will let them exploit the course. Yes there are obstacles on the open sections, but nothing an open player won't be able to go over the top of. Yes, the lines on the wooded holes are technical but an expert will not find them challenging at the distances available. At the same time, a new player may find those woods lines too tough and the rough is fairly rough. They may also be exhausted by the distance on the open holes.

Other Thoughts:

It says that the course is still in development, and I believe it must be close to finished at this point. I will say that it looks a lot more finished than it does in the pictures taken six months ago. (Nothing felt as open as some of them look.) There are probably some finishing touches (a few more next tee signs hopefully) to add but it is very much ready to play. I didn't want to add this to a con, (and it would be if the course was advertised as completed) but there are a few transitions that need directional aids. I wasn't bothered by it, because for once the course map was completely accurate and easy to follow, but it is something that needs to happen. (and probably will, the way that everything else has been thought of here.)

Continually Improved 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 16, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well maintained
Variety of shots
Course makes full use of the land given -- it's amazing 18 interesting holes fit in this space!

Cons:

Soccer, tennis and baseball means it can be busy with people, but you won't have to cross paths with anyone while playing
Carpet pads (although personally I like them better)
Lack of signs for next tee? (this one is hard since I know the course)

Other Thoughts:

I play this course very often, since before the tee signs were even up. The maintainers show the course a lot of love and have cared for it and developed it out very nicely as time has passed.

The course makes full use of the land, and returns you nicely to the parking lot several times during play so you never have to play all 18, can skip holes, etc.

Front 4 plays in the woods, 5-8 play around them, 9-10-11 are back along and in the edges of the woods. Holes 12 and up are in the open and let you rip (particularly 15, being long and wide open).

Some navigation notes:
First tee is at the very back of the parking lot. Drive all the way in past the tennis center and fields. Tee 1 and a practice tee are on your right. Tee 1 plays into or to the edge of the woods on the right, not the further tee on the left (which is 11). Tee 5 is to the right, walk out of the woods down the path and you'll see the pad on the left. The walk from Hole 9 to Hole 10 is left up the same walking path, with 10 being a short tight hole in the woods. 14 to 15 is a bit of a walk, follow the path past the ball fields. 15 is a monster hole, but you'll see the pad next to the pines on your right. You end up very close to your parking spot after hole number 11, and play very close to it until hole 14. Hole 18 returns you to the lot as well.

While there are signs that guide you from hole to hole, they are rather small and just arrows. Got lost twice during my round but didnt take long to get back on track.

Padded mats are a problem for some people, i dont really care.

Overgrown grass in some areas, and lots of bugs.

Other Thoughts:

Went on a midweek early afternoon. Only one other golfer out at the time, and no one walking the paths. Tons of wide open room to just rear back and let 'er rip!

Great Course...worth a trip 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 24, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is on its way to be one of the best in central Florida. The park is huge and has a ton of facilities and things to do. It has plenty of space for a DG course and they are actually installing 2 additional holes to get it up to 20 for an upcoming tournament.

The flow is amazing for the first 6 holes. They have trees cut and laid down to form a path that takes you from the pin to the next pad. I haven't ever seen anything so helpful on any course I have ever played! This course has everything but water, which is fine with me. It is hard to lose a disc, except in some high vegetation in a couple of spots. The length is excellent and will challenge you, even if you have a canon for an arm. The woodsy holes are nice and technical, with obvious lines and fairways but without rough that will eat your disc.

Locals were really friendly and even helped us find two discs (watch out for the tall grass). These guys really care about their course and are working hard to maintain it. They have added a tunnel shot on 15 that is roughly 200 feet dead straight down a tunnel.

The course takes you back to part of the parking lot on hole 7, which is helpful...it is a ways from where the parking lot meets up with hole 1, though. The online map is really helpful.

Cons:

Just a couple of cons. Carpet tees. High shule in a few spots. Really the only hole that I thought had an issue is hole 17 because the hyzer route has you throwing blind across a walking path. I fear that someone is going to come walking or jogging down the path and get nailed. Only a mando would help that but it would take away from that hole.

Navigation was a little rough getting from hole 6 to hole 7. There were some carpet tees out in the field that we thought were hole 7 but then it turned out it was over by the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

Great course. No other courses on this side of town and pretty accessible from the interstate. I will definitely be playing this when I am in town. I hope they will add real tee signs, mow a little of the shule and add concrete tees. If they did that, I would give it a solid 4 or 4.5

Jonesville Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 24, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

I'm going to start with location and directions. The park was very easy to find and the course within the park was also very easy to locate all the way at the back.

There is not a course sign yet, but the start is very intuitive. There is also a practice basket if you like to warm up a little.

I played on a weekday so parking was easy, but the course runs around a multipurpose park so parking could be more difficult when all of the baseball, softball, and soccer fields are in use. Not to mention the tennis courts.

The pads are large pieces of carpet, which some people see as a CON. But they were nice and large and staked to the ground very well so footing was not on my mind even though the surrounding ground was wet.

There are tee signs (wooden posts) for all of the holes. They all have hole numbers and distances.

Once you get going the flow is very intuitive. Most baskets are visible from the tees and the trails from one pin to the next tee are very well cleared. If there is doubt, small signs with arrows point you in the right direction.

The 18 holes are a mix of left, right, straight, open, wooded, long, medium, and short. The variety of shots will make you use more than just your simple RHBH. I found myself using discs that simpler courses don't make me reach for.

Cons:

Some of the wooded holes still need some clearing.

If you go in the summer, bring some good bug spray.

Some of the holes ran along or across a walking path. I only encountered one pedestrian, but again I was playing on a off day.

Few benches.

Other Thoughts:

I had a great time playing the course! I will certainly make it down again. This course is mostly fair. There are a couple of trees that could stand to be taken out, but for the most part, good shots were rewarded and poor shots were not punished more than they deserved.

Rec players should expect to shoot several over. Advanced players should be anywhere from +3 to -6. And I would expect a pro to shoot better than advanced.

Improvements Coming! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 1, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It has left, right, and straight holes to challenge any righty or lefty. No discrimination. Front 11 is a lot more wooded and technical compared to Northside Park. The park is still pretty new and the designers and local club are working hard to improve this course on their free time almost daily.

Cons:

I don't feel right filling in this area yet due to this course still being new. All problems I have are being resolved without bringing it up to anyone's attention.

Other Thoughts:

Potentially with the baseball and soccer fields out there I can see some night games going on if the stadium lights are on. You could play 11-18 no problem in the dark. I would like to see that in the future for those who have to work long hours.
