Great for the target market, rough for visitors

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 1, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

I will preface this by saying a couple of holes and the usually recommended parking area are currently under construction for non disc golf related things.

I played this course once years ago when it was still Southern Poly, but didn't remember it well enough to review it. I think the course as it currently stands is slightly better than the original version.

There are now tee signs and pavers for tee pads that are quite nice. Though it's generally pretty short there is a good use of the trees such as they are and a little bit of elevation. Baskets are in good shape and number three is slightly elevated which is fun for a change.

I feel like you need a good roughly backhand and some sort of relatively straight shot to score here but for the target market of students after class and newer players it's a good intro to disc golf.

Cons:

Biggest issue is if you play any time during class hours people are everywhere. I played after 5 on a summer weekday and it was basically fine but still a lot of cars around.

A bit of a one note course, which is fine for a beginner course but overall not much of a challenge. If you have a 300ft righty hyzer you should be able to score on most holes.

Navigation is tricky the first time and you can easily get turned around.

As we are generally not students we are not exactly the target market and registering a car/finding a visitor spot and the hassle that it is makes it question of its super worth it unless you have a local guide.

Other Thoughts:

For it's intended purpose it's quite good and not a bad course for a campus, not on par with the best I've played at schools but far from the worst.

Easy After-Class Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 9, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Kennesaw State campus sits just above Atlanta in Marietta .A lot of the times , you can go to a college course and eventually see a basket or 2 . This course isn't one of them . Pay attention to the directions on DGR .The East visitors lot is pretty far away from the course . I think they like checking you into the campus police station so they can charge you $3 for 30-60 minutes here . I got away with parking right up against the course because I had a driver this time . You might be able to use a bathroom if classes are going on , There was a Port O Let near hole #2 , but I don't know if it is temporarily there just because of some construction .
THE EQUIPMENT -- From previous reviews , the school must have upgraded it in the last few years . The tee pads are a cool 6 sided brick . It's only about 6' X 6' , but the holes are short , so you won't need a run up . The signs are basic , giving you hole # par and distance . Flight path would have been a big help , because the 6 sided pads aren't pointed to any particular fairway . Print the map , or you will spend time walking down a couple of the fairways trying to find the tee pad to match the basket . The baskets are nice yellow banded and numbered Discatchers .
THE LANDSCAPE -- This is a nice looking campus . The grass was cut and trees trimmed . The course goes in sort of a swirl , starting next to and looping around campus buildings for the first 2 holes , then encircling itself slowly in some light woods between 3 of the buildings . The course has a little elevation to it on most holes but maybe 3 and 5 . In some of the fairways in the woods section , there are some pine cones and pine needles in the fairways , which add a little to the overall appearance . There is a small reservoir looking gulley in front of hole #4 . It's an obstacle , but most will be able to easily throw over . Even with the absence of trash cans , this area is very clean .
THE HIGHLIGHTS -- The course is just over 2200' , so the holes are very short .
#4 ( 320' ) is an uphill drive over a gully . This may be the only time you pull out your driver . The basket sits atop of a hill .
#6 ( 257' ) is a slightly downhill midrange/putter shot between a jail of trees .
#7 ( 213' ) is a downhill putter run slightly to the right with a tree in front of you , and the basket sits on a slope .
#8 ( 231' ) thowing uphill and over a ridge , there are actually little flags in the ground to show you which way the hidden basket sits .
DISC RISK -- Very Low . If the water gulley had a large amount of water in it on #4 , and you failed to clear it , I guess you could . If you lose a disc here , you need to report to the campus police station and let them charge you with " Driving Without A Purpose ' .
THE TIME -- Once I found hole 1 , it took me about 25 minutes to play the course . A group of 4 could pla it in an hour or less .
The course has made improvements over time and looks to be a nice addition to this campus

Cons:

#1 SAFETY -- there were only a couple of students walking the sidewalks when I was playing on a Saturday late afternoon . I imagine that there will be people walking to/from class some during the week . The course plays close to some sidewalks . Also , a couple of the tee pads sit close to the preceding basket ( #4 & 5 come to mind along with 6-7 . I guess the paddy wagon is just on the other side of the building if someone gets jacked while teeing off . A couple of the building are kind of close to fairways . A real errant shot might strike the side of one .
NAVIGATION -- The course is short and within time you could still play all holes , but print an online map . It will save you time , since there is no kiosk , and hole #1 starts behind a building that separates it from the rest of the course . Remember that the course swirls and encircles itself after hole 2 .
LACK OF CHALLENGE -- They wedged the only 9 hole course into tight spaces ,therefore sacrificing both length and variety . Most people carrying a disc bag will shoot under par here . There are a couple of spots for ace runs , too .
PARKING AND PAYING -- Parking where they want you to leads to a long walk to/from the course . On top of that , they might want you to pay $3 for a temporary permit . Play on a weekend or between school sessions and hide your car between the students cars next to the course and just keep an eye on it .

Other Thoughts:

Many campus course go downhill after they are first installed . This one didn't . It's actually a nice little break for the students to play before or after classes , or if they have some down time on the weekends . The Student Body here , or intramural athletics could have a small school challenge with other colleges , or even just a dorm against dorm competition . I have always said that having a decent college campus disc golf course can introduce the campus to the city or other areas , and receive free advertisement in doing so . One student's tuition that found this college could pay for the course for years to come .
MY RECOMMENDATION -- Barring the walk or the hassle of registering your car , this is an excellent intro course and course for newbies . Perfect course for the student want to get out and throw a round or 2 without taking up too much of his or her time . Locals can get a quick fix if they can get in and out without detection . The course does not have enough here to keep an intermediate on up interested . Just off of the I-75 exit , this is a good leg stretching course if you have someone sit in the car while you play for less than a half hour . The course is only slightly elevated and the pine needles make the course easy on the body . Course collectors can get on/off the expressway and get this course in less than an hour total . Easy grab . I wouldn't go out of my way to play this course again , but it is Fast And Easy . Try it if you have an extra hour and are in the area .

Surprisingly nice campus 9'er 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 4, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

MAINTENANCE: Few other courses in the immediate area, and being on a campus it's well maintained.
DISK RISK: There's no disc loss risk anywhere here, so it's a good spot for beginners. Or if you are a more advanced player, a good course for practicing controlled tee shots to make birdies.
TERRAIN USE: Excellent use of the terrain to form a variety of fun hole types in this small area, including an uphill bomb opportunity (#4), a blind downhill drop (#7), and a blind ridge cross (#8). Also, a good mix of open and moderately wooded holes.
- Potentially quick to play when few people are around. I can vouch that 2 rounds in an hour is possible here, even though it's in the middle of a college campus.
- The hexagonal brick paver tees are really odd, but they're flat and even with the surrounding ground surface so they work fine in my opinion.

Cons:

PARKING: Apparently you have to pay to park on campus during the school year. I've only ever played here in off times when no one else is there and campus is basically empty, so you can park for free and no on cares, but it's definitely a hindrance for playing year-round.
LIMITED PLAYABILITY: Every hole but #5 and #7 either crosses or immediately parallels walking paths, which would make the course unplayable during busy days while classes are in session. As a result, I imagine it could be virtually impossible to play here during most of the fall and spring.
LAYOUT: Multiple baskets are way too close to the next tee (especially #7's basket & #8's tee), adding more risk to playing when it's busy. Also, #5 plays right past the corner of a building with a large window just begging for disc hits a little short and left of the basket. Most intermediate & advanced players probably have enough disc control to not worry about it, but a bad tree kick or an uncontrolled hyzer would lead to a hard, loud window crash that no one wants. Not to mention that that's the kind of thing that leads to courses getting pulled!
- The tee signs say the distance but lack a pictorial map of each hole, though most are short enough you don't need them anyway.

Other Thoughts:

- The basket for #2 is currently blocked off in the construction zone around Howell Hall, which looks like it is either getting a big remodel or going to be torn down soon.

- Go during the summer or holiday brakes (like over xmas through early January) when there's no one on campus, because then you can park for free and there aren't any parking staff around who'd care about 1 car in an otherwise large and empty lot.

- Really wish more Student Government Associations would sponsor disc golf courses! If I'd have been a student here, I'd have played it weekly!

Cool Campus Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 25, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

A 9-holer with shot shaping, variety, and urban swag.

-Amenities: Interesting and sufficient octagonal tee pads. Hole signs have distance, par, and number. DISCatchers.

-Shot Shaping and Variety: Pretty decent. There are open holes and woods holes, hyzers and flexes, opportunities for forehand and backhand, and very good use of mild elevation. (1)-(4) are mostly open in the 250-325 ft range with a variety of spice (smooth hyzer on (2), woods and walking path danger on either side of (3)), while (5)-(9) go through the thicker stand of woods and include elevation and a couple of scary thin lines. There's sufficient challenge for a good rec player.

-Ambience: The course is intimately woven into the campus. You'll throw along walking paths, around buildings, and through/over common areas. And yet, the nature isn't all gone, since the course is centered around a pine wood on a hill in the middle of campus. Great combo of the scenic and the academic.

-Forgiveness: Even a bad tee shot should leave the competent with a believable scramble.

Cons:

The course is a bit cramped in, leading to issues.

-Safety: On a busy day, don't play. Way too many paths and common areas come into the danger zone. A terribly floofed shot could risk property damage. I don't really take points off the score for this because it should be completely playable if you go during breaks or summer.

-Navigation: Some confusion as to the location of the next tee and which basket to throw to. I tried to walk to (7) from (2), and then when I finally did get to (7), I threw to basket (8). Use a map/UDisc.

-Length: All par 3's, mostly under 300 feet. I think I (mis)used one fairway driver for a technical hole, and otherwise all mids.

-Parking: Free for 30 minutes only, and you can probably only get the course done by then if you're a solo on a non-busy day or a running twosome.

Other Thoughts:

I noticed that the Southern Polytechnic (now part of Kennesaw State University) Student Government Association built this course, so let me say as a student that I would be thrilled if my SGA built a course of this quality on my campus. There's both open and technical, reasonable challenge, and great use of terrain and elevation. That said, for one-time players the navigation and parking will be a hassle, and it's unfeasible to use on high-traffic days. I initially gave it a Typical, but having played many more courses since then, there's not enough variety of length for me to hold that, and it's Reasonable.

A Race Against Time 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 7, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

- free to play
- hexagon shaped brick tee pads, allows for many possible alternate layouts
- good use of available elevation changes
- fun layout
- beginner friendly
- clean course, well maintained landscape

Cons:

- campus course works through some potentially high pedestrian traffic areas
- basket 5 cage is broken
- small tees
- some tees are too close to other baskets
- lack of fairway definition
- basically no course amenities, no signs, benches, trash cans, ect
- mostly short fairways
- fairways lack punitive gameplay
- pay parking: 30 minutes are free, 2$ for an hour
- guest parking not necessarily close to the bulk f the course
- course does not end where it starts
- basket 9 a little low

Other Thoughts:

This is an interesting campus style course. The course starts just the right of a water fountain, curls around a building, and the rest of the course is located in a pocket of trees that are centered between 3 or 4 buildings. As far as campus courses go, there's a lot to like about holes 3-9. I noticed a ton of elevation changes and big trees to weave through. Distances are somewhat limited, but there's still a hole or two worth bringing a distance driver for.

One thing that I loved/disliked about the course was the short hexagon tee pads. Many baskets can be thrown to from each tee pad, which makes the tees potentially very versatile. That being said, they're a little short and awkward to throw from. Another thing that kind of sucked about the course is the pay parking situation. You could potentially pay to park, then find out the course is too busy to throw and be stuck with a bill for nothing. I briskly played through the course in about an hour for a time to play estimation. The parking lot is a decent distance away from hole #9, make sure you budget your time efficiently. The course lacks signs, directional aids, and fairways definition. Be careful where you throw, watch for pedestrians.

Course caretaker needed 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 27, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

(1.223 Rating) The course is in need of some love.
- CHAINS - All the baskets still seem fairly new with the exception of hole 5, which had apparently been hit by a tree limb according to a prior review.
- MAINTENANCE - The grounds appear to be mowed weekly. The school grounds were also very clean despite a lack of garbage cans along the layout. I didn't notice any areas that had significant overgrowth.
- FORGIVENESS - The odds of losing a disc due to an errant shot is low with a one exception. In the event that the currently dry retention pond is filled, then yes, it's possible.
- QUICK PLAY - A single can easily complete a full 9 in under 30 minutes. Groups of 4 in under an hour.
- NIGHT GOLF - This is an ideal night golf course. Spacious fairways, moderate amount of trees, no overgrowth and no water hazards in play, if retention pond is dry.
- GROW THE SPORT - no doubt will this course aid in growing the sport by offering easy access to learn the game at a beginner friendly course on campus.

Cons:

The course has a ways to go
- UNIQUENESS - Below average. Most shots are either open or threw moderate spaced pine tree lines. I will add however, some may find playing in a more urban setting with buildings in the backdrop, as unique. For instance, Hole 2 is a bender around a corner of a building.
- ELEVATION - Really not that much. I played 2 other nearby Georgia courses on the day I hit this course and this one had the least amount of elevation change and use. Total elevation change is not much more than 25' throughout the entire layout. In Retrospect due to the lack of elevation, the course will work good for those that like to have the disc golf stroller caddie.
- CHARACTER - The course is really just baskets and is void of all course character items. No seating, no map, no community board, no trash cans, no tee signs, no practice basket. no just about everything. There is a concrete table near the last hole.
- TEES AREA - All 9 of them are dirt, not the end of world, but, to make matters worse, the tees were apparently marked by only wood blocks according to the pictures. I only found one wood block along the entire layout. On a few of the holes I found a piece of wood anchored into the ground. Needless to say, finding the tee box is a huge issue and did my best to improvise according to the map provided on DGCR.
- NAVIGATION - Hole directions were non-existence. I spent a good 10 minutes looking for hole 1 tee and just improvised as best I could with my map.
- BASKET AND TEE SEPERATION - There are numerous occurrences where the basket and next tee are perilously close. Several times they are separated by less than 40 feet.
- DIFFICULTY - Below average, and thus not much of a challenge to advanced players as they should have no problem breaking par. Intermediate and Rec players may be delighted however as it can be a feel good round. It's a great opportunity for those players to finish around even.
- TIME WAITING - This course plays threw a part of the campus. You will have shots that bring the pedestrian paths around campus into play. You will be forced to wait some times.
- PARKING - Being on a campus, the lots all indicate the need of a parking permit. I fortunately played on a Sunday and felt safe just parking wherever. So parking could be an issue on week days.

Other Thoughts:

An unfinished course for those attending Kennesaw. I would be hard pressed to recommend going here unless you're a student or employee in need of a quick practice round or if you feel the need to play every course in the area.

So much potential! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a nice and quiet disc golf course on University Property. The baskets are nicely laid out and the trees provide a bit of a challenge. This course would be a beautiful beginners course if a few small improvements were made.

Cons:

No parking! I'm pretty sure every time I've played I've parked in permit only parking. I haven't been harassed about parking but I haven't played on a weekday.
No tee pads on this course, instead the tee are marked with small yellow markers in the ground. Many of these tee pad markers have been broken or are missing. Many tee spots are not marked or very difficult to find!

Other Thoughts:

With a little bit of tinder loving care, new tee markers, and markers to the next tee point, this course would be a very nice 9 hole course.

Pros:

Natural tees were flat and fair to drive from

Good mix of open and wooded fairways with some elevation changes

Well-maintained

Had whole course to myself on a Sunday evening

Cons:

No tee signs

Some of the tee markers are no longer present but there are some worn areas in the grass - refer to the pictures to find the actual spots of the tees

No next tee signs - can be confusing to the first-time visitor

Course design needs improvement - hole #9 tee is in hole #4 fairway and hole #9 basket is almost in hole #6 fairway

Nasty rough in the retention ditch on hole #4

Other Thoughts:

Southern Polytechnic State University consolidated into Kennesaw State University in 2015. This is a nice recreational course to practice on. You'll get a chance to throw some bombs as well as work on your short game. I recommend coming out on a weekend as I haven't seen any players out here, very few students, and parking won't be an issue. Be careful not to throw your disc into the sewer opening on hole #1.

there is no signage about the hole or hole info

a few hundred bucks in paint and signage would make this a really fun rec course. there are miles of Sidewalk and patios surrounding the course so there would not need to be any new construction or concrete just paint visible tee pads for each hole on the already existing concrete. and a few arrows pointing to the next tee pad. That'll do 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 21, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Not a run-of-the-mill 9 hole course. There are elevation changes, hard left doglegs, straight shots, short shots and decent length uphill shots that can take a longer disc to reach (No 4). Trees are in play here, adding to the variety. This course is situated right near I75 and can be an easy get in and get out course or a one or two rounds over lunch course which is great for where it is. Good use of the available space.

Cons:

Tee signs/pads are severely lacking. 1-4 have no marked location and 5-9 have some wooden stakes and noticeable wear spots in the dirt.
Several holes have no definite line. There is simply a starting point and an ending point with trees in the middle. You do whatever you want.
Being on a college campus, parking and tickets for not permits can be an issue, especially when school is in session. Check the SPSU website for updated parking maps or call their number if you can't figure it out.

Other Thoughts:

The map is very nice to have on hand since there are some blind shots and lack of tee locations. Keep an eye out for pedestrians, though there are "Watch for Discs" signs around the course put up by the student council and SPSU. An easy course to mark of the list, and a little fun too. Definitely not a destination course.

Convenient & Quick 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is conveniently located just off I-75 near Marietta and the Cobb Galleria area, which is a major employment/lodging center within the Atlanta area -- making this one of the most viable lunchtime courses around Atlanta. To that point, it's also a very quick play.

The course is in a decently nice setting with large pine trees, rolling hills and plenty of shade.

Not crowded, played at 12pm and nobody on/near the course except us.

Cons:

We had trouble figuring out where to park, and misplayed two holes even with the map in hand as the tee markers seem to have disappeared. Dirt tees, no tee signs, two holes where the basket you can see from the tee is not the correct hole ... so expect to misplay it.

The course is very short, making it appealing to raw beginners or a decent practice course. Most holes rack real fairways, with a few (e.g. hole 9) that are just throw and hope. Several safety issues with blind holes playing adjacent to walking paths that are on the RHBH side.

Other Thoughts:

This course serves it's purpose as a place for college students in the adjacent dorms to play. It would have been nice to see the land used better, but it's OK as is. I will be back for a quick lunchtime round, but only because it's the only place i can possibly play at lunchtime due to its location.

Do not go out of your way to play this course, you will be disappointed.

For what it is... 2+ years drive by

Pros:

-Given that this is a 9-hole Campus Course with limited space in a high traffic walking courtyard, there is a great flow and intriguing play to this field, and it is not as bad of pedestrian hazard as one might think.
-Plenty of signage to make students aware of the players, as opposed to an assumption that students have the right of way and frolfers are invading public space.
-Simple color coded pars
-Easy to follow once Hole 1 is found, a simple spiral inwards.
-Excellent use of the small courtyard

Cons:

-Kind of hard to find, tucked away, around, over, and down in the back. Students are nice about directions if needed, but basically it is past the main building at the core near the 'dorms'
-Short, but hey, work with what ya got is definitley the concept behind this course's construction
-9th basket is unusally short! Strange, but provides an interesting opportunity for a skip-ace
-Hole one is kinda hard to locate. Look at a map first for sure, but even that is somewhat misleading.

Other Thoughts:

Directions: Basically, I parked next to the main building (not the first one you see, either entrance requires about a 1/2 mile wiggly drive, then a right at what turned out to be the main building. Course is beyond this, over and down a small hill, and past small lot with the Architecture building, which is actually an ARCH, on the left). You might be hard pressed to find parking within 100 yards of the course, the dorms were full when I went. Once you have located a couple baskets, head right, and first pad is unpaved in the grass right of the path, the basket about 150 feet to the left of the path.

My buddy and I played this course after a dawn outing at Oregon Park. It was a nice way to wrap things up and bring down the handicap a bit. I am not thrilled with the idea of nine hole courses, but I did like the campus setting(although I still think Berry college is the best campus course in GA). The course is set in the middle of the residential part of campus, and coils up on itself like a hot one. It was very easy to find, easy to navigate, and easy to play. The location makes this course better than it otherwise would be.

Cons:

Its only nine holes. Some of the holes are hard to read at first, but you get the hang of it. The co-eds on campus were less than pleasing.

Other Thoughts:

I liked it. It is a nice little course off I75 and 285. I wouldnt be excited to go out and play just it, but it is a nice addition to any other course you may play that day.

Southern Poly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 14, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The actual location of this course is one of the most convenient ones that I've ever played in the metro Atlanta area. It only took about three minutes to get to Southern Poly from I-75, and the campus was fairly easy to navigate. Therefore, you don't have to take a lengthy detour to get there if you're just passing through on your way to Atlanta or Chattanooga.
The course plays through the center of campus, and is pretty close to the dormitories. This is ideal for student use. You will definitely see students here, but every single person I met was helpful and extremely friendly. Some holes go across sidewalks, but nothing ridiculous. There are great signs warning pedestrians of flying discs, and the natives I met were surprisingly aware of their surroundings.
The course layout is simple, but most holes have a few trees in place that can prevent them from being all ace-runs. Hole one is a perfect example of this. There's an open fairway near the tee, but the hole is surrounded by large trees. Most of the holes are short, so this is a perfect course to work on your midrange and putter drives. There's a decent mix of downhill throws, uphill throws, hyzers, and anhyzers. I actually thought the land they were allowed to work with was a really cool area. There's a drainage basin on hole four that could possibly be considered a shot over the water if it's been raining a good bit, but it was dry when I was there and not really a factor. The baskets are currently new and catch great!

Cons:

Although the course does have tee box numbers on the ground like ball golf courses, they aren't always the easiest things to find if you don't have a map with you. You will DEFINITELY need to bring a map with you. The baskets don't have numbers on them, and it can be ridiculously confusing trying to figure out the course. Hole two looks like it's a long, straight shot to the basket, but it 's actually a blind hyzer shot (RHBH) around the corner of the building. It's really short and kind of ridiculous. I understand that they don't have tee signs, and that's not terrible, but that makes numbers on the baskets even more vital.
I was also pretty disappointed with the course layout. I thought a lot more could have been done with the land. Although the course does offer a diverse selection of shots, some of the fairways cross over one another, and some of the tees are too close to the previous baskets. These don't give the course a very nice flow. It's not a problem if you're the only group out there though, as I experienced.

Other Thoughts:

I can only see this course being a practice facility. It doesn't flow well enough or offer enough length or difficulty for any kind of competition. It's extremely convenient for students, but all visitors should definitely bring a map or find a guide. In the absence of numbers on the holes, someone definitely needs to use some tape to indicate the hole numbers for people without maps. I plan on doing this on my next trip through if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Pros:

This is a decent recreational course that serves its intended purpose pretty well. It weaves itself through the heart of the Southern Polytechnic State University campus in Marietta Georgia. It's a mainly open course that dabbles in some wooded shots, three blind shots and one dogleg. Overall it offers a pretty decent medley considering its only nine holes.

This is a short course with most if not all holes coming in under 300. Unless you are looking for a bomber course it can be a really fun little course! Most people will have fun trying to ring up as many two's as possible. Ace runs are also abundant and are fun to go for as well. It's also a compact course and it's great for a quick lunch break round.

If you are just starting out, this will be a great course. You can get a good feel for disc golf and not have a need for multiple discs. In fact, you could just about play the entire course with one disc. For the more experienced players, this could be a great course to work on new shots and work on your approach shots.

The course has new Innova Discatcher baskets and they are clearly visible from the tees. The pads are marked with painted and numbered 4X4 blocks and while they are hard to find at first, they serve their purpose pretty well. Speaking of the pads, they are natural and are in perfect shape with no erosion or wear at all.

Cons:

The first thing you'll notice is that you are in the middle of a college campus. The relaxing feeling you can get playing out in nature is not here. If you are playing during the week then you can expect to see lots of non disc golf activity that will be pretty distracting.

There are no tee signs and the baskets are not marked. Simple numbers on the baskets could do wonders for course navigation. Once you figure the course out it won't be a problem but it took me as long to walk the course and figure it out as it did to play it.

Hole two can be confusing. From the tee pad, you can see the basket for nine and it even looks as though it could be the right basket to shoot for. The actual basket for two is blind so some sort of indication would be nice. Also hole two is potentially dangerous due to its blind shot. A spotter would be ideal. Be careful

The fairways cross sidewalks multiple times so you may have to wait for pedestrians from time to time.

Other Thoughts:

The designers did a great job based on the land available for this course. A couple little bells and whistles could really make things better. Marking the baskets and some tee signs would be a good start.

If you live in the area a trip to the course would be worth it but if you are visiting the north Atlanta area I would recommend looking into some of the other area courses. Again, this is really nothing more than a recreational course on a college campus and is not meant to be anything more. On the other hand, if you play it for what it is you can have a great time. Enjoy!

Good small short course on campus 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

The baskets are brand new. For the small area they have to use, they did a good job with it. There is some elevation changes and light tree cover to add some difficulty to the course. Layout is not bad.

Cons:

Tee markers are short (ground level) and can be difficult to locate your first time out. You have to kinda find your way around to the next tee but again being small its not horrible. no defined tee pads. Baskets should be numbered.

Other Thoughts:

I would like to see better markers marking the next tee. Also, not sure this course needs cement pads but a better defined pad would be nice. Student do/will cut through the fairways to get to class but the interruption is very quick.
