Pros:
As of this review, 12 more holes in Paul B Johnson State park
Course was well groomed
Cons:
Not exactly marked well yet.
Grass tee's
at least 3 different types of baskets.
Suppose to be a Rec Friendly family course, but has 2 par 4's on it?
Other Thoughts:
Ok, I was expecting a little pitch and putt course for families. 9 holes around 200 or so foot average would have been perfect.
But that is not what this was.
So I looked up UDisc and there was not map. This page was saying 10 holes, UDisc said 11, but I found 12 holes out there mostly by accident.
So when I pulled in, I saw several baskets along the road and I figured that was where the course was. The lady working the booth did not have a map and of course I didn't check this site to see there was a map posted here.
I started on what I thought was hole 1. The tee marking just had a distance. The basket on the other hand had a 4 on it. I played on finding the main tee box. I saw blue flag in spots that are suppose to be "long" tee boxes. I hit the first 3 holes for 2's as I expected, then get to hole 7 that the tee marker said 400+ foot and I could see a Mando down the fairway. This turns out to be one of the hardest holes on this course, and the other 2 courses in the park. You play up the hill though a grove of large pine tree's, then over to the left with the basket hiding behind a bush that is not exactly easy to throw around.
Then there is a "new" hole heading back to old tee 8. It's a little downhill shot you don't want to be right or long.
The hole marked hole 8 was the other par 4 with the basket tucked into a clearing down to the lake. YOU do not want to be off the fairway, that rough is super thick.
The holes marked 9 and 10 are both what I expected.
So I could see a basket on the other side of the entrance, I went over to see if there were 3 holes over there to match up with the hole numbers on the baskets. I found a temp basket with a new clearing that turned out to be hole 2. Hole 3 was a little "S" shot though some brush. So I checked on the other side of the maintained shed and found 2 more basket labeled 1 and 2.
Oh, Hole 1's basket is the one next to the creek, hole 2's basket is on the side of the damn, I played it wrong at first.
Would I play here again? This is a one and done course. I might play it again when it is finished, but I would rather play the other 2 courses personally.
