.BASICS:
.
>Teepads--concrete, most just a tad too short, but good condition.
>Baskets--Discatchers, good condition.
># holes--18
>Setting, type of course, fee--Free public park. Mostly park style with 4-5 wooded holes thrown in.
>Ease of getting to--Right off the bypass in Marysville, pretty easy.
.
AMENITIES:
.
>Parking--Plenty
>Bathrooms--Yes, at the parking lot.
>Practice basket/driving net--None noted.
>Water/food nearby--3 minutes away.
>Clubhouse/disc shop--No.
>Benches--Sprinkled throughout, though I think mostly for the walking path.
>Trash cans--Yes, again mostly for the path uses, but you are on it for half the course...
>Bag holders--No.
>Tee signs--Yes, quite good actually--MIND THE WATER on the tee signs, there are a few holes where the creek is right along the fairway, and covered by trees so you may not know it is there. We stayed dry, but it in the wind or with a bit of a shank, you could lose one.
>Next tee direction/signs--some signs, some marked on the baskets, but a few holes there was no indication, and Udisc or a picture of the course map would be quite helpful.
>Wheelchair/cart friendly--Many holes could be played from the walking path, so somewhat wheelchair friendly--the few woods holes not so much. Quite cart friendly.
.
COURSE PLAY:
.
>Shot variety--Pretty good, threw some BH, a few FH, some flex shots in the woods, even a roller from the tee on one hole.
>Open/wooded--4-5 purely wooded holes, 3-4 mostly open field type shots, several open but with woods lining one side of the fairway to keep you honest, and several more fairly open but requiring a specific shot shape.
>Elevation--Not much, hole 17 is a nice shot though.
>Distance of holes--from about 200' to 540', mostly in the 300-350' range.
>Layout, long walks (inc back to car), loops--Holes 1-11 form one loop back to the parking lot, 12-18 another. There are a few longer walks as you traverse up and back the path.
>Total distance walked--3.0 miles, surprising given the length is listed at 5750' or so from the short tees.
>Ease of finding next tee--Good, not perfect, udisc/map would be helpful.
>General difficulty--Typical for a local course. I think rec players can have a good shot to get par or better, there are several shorter holes under 250'. There were several holes where par 3 just seemed low, hole 17 especially seems a ridiculous par 3. Another example, hole 1 is a nice 455' par 3 with some trees to get your feel good round started.
>Mud/water issues--None today, but dry lately.
>Water or O/B to contend with--There IS a creek which runs along several holes, sometimes unknown (well hidden, but just into the woods a little bit) from the teepads. CHECK the tee signs, they are real nice and show the creek well. There is also O/B marked on the tee signs--mostly fields you would not want to land in anyway, and the path forms a natural O/B line on several holes.
>Difficult rough/lost disc risk--Fairly low, the woods holes are mostly thinned out, the woods bordering some of the otherwise open fairways present the most risk of losing one.
>Scrape/scratch risk--Fairly low.
>How busy was course/park--Moderate, 8-10 other groups seen playing on a pleasant Saturday. The path did not seem busy, but as several holes are adjacent to the path the entire length of the fairway, wait for walkers to clear out of the way can start adding up.
.
OVERALL:
.
>Fun/enjoyment factor, would I play again? Yes, but not when I thought the path might be busy.
>Who will this course challenge? Rec to Int players. Bit too long overall for beginners wanting to score well, bit too easy I imagine for Adv and better, though a few of the longer par 3's might challenge even them.
>Is it worth a drive? If in the area.
>Anything unique? Loved hole 17--two routes, very different with their own challenges. No way is this a par 3 though!
>Would be a half star higher with--No path. Not a reasonable expectation of course. Not much could be done to improve the course really--good equipment, good variety. Designers did the best they could with the long narrow playing area.
I am in my 50s, 130 or so courses played, 890ish.
