Fun course in a fantastic country park drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 24, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good baskets
-Lovely setting
-Interesting Holes
-Accessible
-Disc hire and knowledgeable staff by tee one
-The Toboggan is stupidly good fun,

Cons:

-Short
-Rough is bad in places
-Looks like hole one has been shortened to putting territory with the installation of a new bike track

Other Thoughts:

It's a fun course in an incredible park. Pembrey blew me away with a young family, for a council run facility it is beyond all expectations and I was a huge fan. There are so many well priced activities well spaced around the park, there is also around an 8 mile beach fronting the whole thing.

The course itself is fun enough and a good introduction to Disc Golf with some interesting holes. It's not much of a challenge and can be played and scored well with just a putter but it does what it was meant to do and gives a great introduction to families into the sport.

Parking charges are applicable for the site and if you are making use of other facilities are well worth it, if you are just looking to play the course then combined with the green fee it gets a bit expensive for what it is.

Overall I absolutely loved Pembrey Country Park and it was nice to top it off with a bit of Disc Golf in a fun course. The next step is to create the 18 hole course this place is begging for!

What a wonderful surprise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 26, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand New Baskets

Great facilities based around the dry ski slope, with cafe, toilets and lots of other activities

Knowledgable staff

Site staff are actively looking to add another 9 holes before the end of 2017

Cons:

With so much undulation it is a real shame that the course is virtually flat and follows the paths

Other Thoughts:

Hole 1: Nice and simple, small fir tree guards the basket

Hole 2: Pond to your left. It will only come into play in high winds, but, with the exposed position of this course be aware of it. Hole is straight, aim for the closer basket

Hole 3: Mando to right of tree by basket makes this hole quite difficult.

Hole 4: Long hole which runs round the corner. There is the option to play through the tunnel (right of tee) but wouldnt give a great advantage.

Hole 5: The best on the course. Dogleg right. Dont try and cut the corner, the brambles were 10ft high on my visit.

Hole 6: A shot hole over the bumps. Not really a challenge

Hole 7: Another short hole. OB is only 5ft behind the basket. For accurate players an ace is very achievable here.

Hole 8: The longest on the course, and is played over all the horse riding jumps.

Hole 9: An easy one to finish, two big trees guard the basket.

On the whole a nice course. It is a shame that more hasnt been made of the undulation and woodland areas, but with the potential of another 9 holes coming this could be something to look at in the future.
Be aware that holes 1,2 and 9 are used as a taster session for local primary schools, this is why they are significantly easier than the rest of the course
