Very fair course where you get rewarded for good shots and not heavily penalized for bad shots.

Some holes are too cleared out and they could have left some of the stumps as obstacles and feel (hole 12 as an example)
Tee pads can use just a little more work but it is minimal. You can see they are working on it
My friend got a hole in one on 13 and I have not heard the end of it! Yes this is a big con!

Easy to get to. Relaxed and fun course and the staff is always around and friendly! Fun to be around when they're clearing the course. They've done a ton to make this a premier course and it shows. 10.00 to play all day isn't a con. You can see exactly where that money goes. Play a round or two then relax inside at a real cool old barn/bar. It makes you want to come back.

Excellent course conditions in terms of grooming fairways and trimming trees.

Lots of seating...think every box had at least a stump or two to rest on...many large seating areas and a few picnic tables.

Great navigation signs to next tee.
Good tee signs with par and distances.

A few tee pads are lose...player on my card actually moved the whole pad on a drive...held tight tho and finished the shot well...but that is a hazard.
Few tee pads are short could use a bit more space.
If you dont know the course there are a bunch of baskets you have a limited or no view of from pad...could use a long pole to hang the flags from.
Little tight between last pin and next tee. Had multiple drives skip up towards tee area on two holes.
Some routes to next tee backtrack played fairway again increasing chance of getting hit with a shot.

Absolutely enjoyed every shot I threw on this course. The culture sweats discgolf and the vibe is happy, positive and promising.
Front 9 plays a little longer than back with more chances to air it out. Back 9 is New England woods tight tee shots protected baskets DISC GOLF. You can definitely score on this course, but it will sneek up on you if you sleep on it. 3 become 5s quick.
The restaurant and bar are awesome.
Good food truck food and great beers in an inviting friendly atmosphere.

Pull off 90...take your time through Sturbridge and go play a few rounds at this great addition to MA disc golf.

A brewery! Disc golf! We're off to a good start.

Holes 1-4 and 10-18 play on one side of the road in the woods. The fairways are wooded but generous early on, although they tighten as the course progresses in the last 5-6 holes.

Holes 5-9 are across the street with mostly open fairways, although they find a way to incorporate trees on all of the holes. Hole 6 is one of my favorites, an uphill drive that then descends the other side of the hill toward a picturesque lake. It's only 266 feet, but it's tough to find the right throw for the
uphill shot that still stays straight toward the basket on the other side. Hole 7 is the only par 4 (that I recall), a wide open uphill drive that narrows to a wooded green. Hole 8 is the only downhill grip-and-rip hole, a run blast that still asks you to avoid some pines and annoying rough.

Hole 10 is one of my favorite wooded holes. It's only 200 feet or so but is a steep up hill turnover shot for RHBH to a very elevated basket on a slope. There is even a little bridge leading from the slope to the basket to allow you to easily grab your disk. Nice touch.

Elevation comes into play on every single hole, which was fun.

Pads are all rubber. There are tee signs for maybe 10-12 of the holes (can't remember), and they're decent. All holes have a small sign showing the distance.

This isn't the most challenging course you'll play. It's not simple, and it's definitely not boring, but there are no real multi-throw holes that demand placement. In my first round here, I got pars or birdies on 16 of the holes and didn't feel like I playing all that great.

The course was redesigned in the past year or two. I never played the old Hyland course, but if you're accustomed to playing holes in the orchard, those are gone. I suspect that is why the later holes feel small and squeezed into a given area. That said, the holes are not bad.

Are you thinking of introducing your friends to disc golf but aren't sure they'll be into it? This is the place. There are no beatdown holes, but there is plenty of good terrain and good holes to show them the joy of disc golf. And if they don't enjoy it? Hey, you were only doing this to get some exercise before drinking some beer! There is a good taproom on site.

- New layout and name to the course under new ownership, things were changed. From what I experienced couldn't be for the good.

Excited for the upcoming Kids Disc Golf tournament here, and for the continuing progress of the course We had a blast, a great course.

NOTE: Rating and reviewing this course based on playing it four days BEFORE grand opening. Might be unfair to rate it before the builders have completed it. I fully expect some of my "CON's" will be addressed as the course is completed and worn in. In fact a crew was working on the course as we were playing. I'll update my rating when that happens.

-This is what a "Play to Pay" course needs to be. It's a well maintained fun layout on a gorgeous property built next to a wonderful brew pub with a full line of locally produced beers. Well worth the $5 greens fees.
-Beautiful grounds, ancient stone walls, glacial boulders, towering pines, with a mix of hardwoods. Great example of a New England woodlands course. A few of the low areas look like they can hold water, but there are a bunch of log bridges in place. On this beautiful summer day none were needed.
-Brand new state-of-the-art DGA baskets, perfectly mounted
-Greens are clear of gimmicky obstacles and many are covered with wood chips
-Well-made and adequately sized tee pads. Many are rubber on crushed stone, several are wooden platforms engineered with some solid timbers.
-Great use of the property's elevation. Almost all holes are up or down and many are up-and-down or down-and-up.
-Safe layout, fairways well spaced and good spacing between greens and the next tees so errant throws shouldn't threaten other groups. Disc golf well separated from road traffic and all other activities on the property.
-Layout is fairly novice-friendly, though they will definitely be pin-balling off many trees. No ponds or water.
-I'm a righty side-armer, I didn't feel the course favored any particular style. Defiantly rewarded accuracy more than distance.
- A fair challenge for a rec level player, many birdie opportunities, every hole a par is in reach, but hit the many trees and you'll be scrambling to save bogie.
-One hole (8) is an open bomb, and a couple of others are pretty wide open, but most holes are less than 300' and very technical.
-Log benches on every hole.
- A full pub just across the street from the first tee and Porto-potties available when the pub isn't open.
-Plenty of parking

-Currently no course map or score card, no tee signs, and not every hole had directions to the next tee. All of my distances below are dead reckoning estimates and might be way off. I suspect this all will be rectified soon, maybe even by the grand opening in just a few days. When it is, I'll definitely bump the rating by at least a ½ star.
-Only one tee pad and basket per hole. While I think the course is a great challenge for a rec level player, better players might find this course to be a bit of a 'chip and putt'? While I think a vast majority of players will find this to be a fun layout, with just the one option per hole the course ends up as a bit of a "tweener", a challenging "Red" course or a moderately easy "White" course. There might be room to add second tees or baskets at some point to make this a tougher tournament-level course.
-No practice baskets, though there is plenty of room to throw a few practices tosses before starting a round.
-No trash cans on the layout
-Hey, this is New England, some poison Ivy and ticks out there, but the liberal use of wood chips on fairways and greens makes this course better than most.

Overall a fun "pay to play" experience that should satisfy a wide range of skill sets.

Hole by hole:
1 - Tee off in an open field a short distance from the parking lot, across a low wetland, across a stone wall to a basket tucked among big rocks and tall pine trees up the hill on the right. Estimated 290'?
2- Start from an elevated wooden tees, well-defined tee shot to a narrow fairway, crosses a wet low area, then uphill to the left, 280'.
3-200' uphill off a stone tee pad, green well-guarded by tall trees, limbed up to create a couple of good fair lines to the basket.
4-210' from an elevated tee pad through a narrow gap in the trees. Basket tucked on the right edge of the fairway, on a little knoll. After four, you decent some steps to your left, and cross the street for the next several holes.
5-Through some tight trees off the tee, flat and maybe 300' up a tight fairway most of the way, but opens up near the basket.
6- Big wood chipped area around a rubber pad on stone dust tee pad, up over an open-field knoll and then down to the basket towards the woods. Split rail fence past the basket must be OB? About 300'
7- Maybe 250 or 260' off an elevated wooden platform, across and open field, uphill to a basket protected by a bushy tree to the left and some tall pines to the right.
8- The open bomb, the only par four, maybe 460' slightly uphill across an open field, then a tight downhill gap in the woods to the basket. Winds can play tricks here. Wood chips in the circle, very nice.
9-Elevated platform, though a generous gap in some trees, then mostly open field, about 300', to basket tucked to the left and behind a giant blue spruce.
10- Back across the road. Short, uphill maybe 200' basket on the right side of a rocky hill with enough trees to make things interesting. One of the coolest basket placements around, elevated on a wood carving of a disc golf basket. Stone wall (OB?) lines the left side of the fairway. This hole begins a stretch of some shorter "birdie run" holes.
11- Very short, up over a little ridge down to a very tight fairway to the basket. Maybe only 180' and downhill, but very narrow.
12- Short, uphill through the woods, a wider right to left line and a narrow left to right line that follows the path, put lots of small trees that can swat any shot not perfectly places. I might want to see a few more trees removed to less the 'lucky pinball' effect on this one. Under 200'
13- Very cool, downhill, maybe 190', narrow straight line to the basket. Both my playing partners took ace runs at this one, one even touched chains. Easy birdie if you can hit that tight line.
14- Uphill, a little right to left, knarly little trees, tough to find a good line to the basket. Green well protected by a boulder field. Maybe only 180' but with all the scruff in the way it's no sure birdie. Two of us were left scrambling for pars.
15- Downhill, maybe 250', but tight the whole way. Towering pines and many maples, with the basket tucked behind the tree. There is a very tight straight line to the basket, and a right to left line, but either way you'll have to avoid trees.
16- Uphill, 300' tough par 3, treed well on both sides, a huge multi-trunk pine about 50' in front of the basket to content with. Definitely one of the tougher holes on the course.
17- Narrow, short, downhill ace run, but narrow enough to not be a gimme birdie. Maybe 200'?
18- Downhill par 350', narrow but a couple of lines to work with. Some huge boulders and tall pines to deal with most of the way. Rock wall way to the right, and another partial wall close to left edge. I'm not sure if either plays as OB. Some dense underbrush if you get too far off fairway. Good finishing hole.
