Pros:

This is a really nice mid-range disc course. The designers have utilized every bit of the park to make this course. With new, cement tees and nice signage, this course is playable year round.

Families and new players will find this course to be really challenging. It is short enough even the weakest arms can make it to the hole in two or three throws. It is also a really condensed so younger players don't have to walk really long distances.

For more experienced players, many newly planted trees have taken away some typical hyzer throws off the tees. Players are forced to either throw low, flex shots or rollers to get to some of the tees. A few of the holes, however, will certainly be considered easy. I think some seasoned players will find this a great practice course.

Porta Potty is available. There is also a gas station just downtown not but two minute from the course.

Cons:

I think the only cons would be:

1.The right side of hole 3 slopes down into a swamp. If you make a really terrible throw right, you might find yourself in some soggy, possibly poison ivy infested ground.

2. On hole 6, you are throwing directly at a barbed wire chain linked fence. If you drift it high, you might find it behind the fence. But, if you are playing during the week, there is usually someone there who can get it for you.

Other Thoughts:

I give this course a four because of how much the designers have accomplished in such limited space. They keep adding trees making this even more challenging. Thank you to the town of Brewster for making such an effort to make this a nice course. I have enjoyed this course every time I have played it and will be visiting again!

Sabo Park is like having a cold, lots of congestion and boredom 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 15, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The disc golf section of Sabo Park is a quiet little piece of land just over 3 acres. It's located on the west side of Brewster, a nice little railroad town about 13 miles southwest of Canton.

+ The ammentities for a course like this are pretty solid. All concrete tees, like-new laminated tee signs, and a map by the start. The convergence of the tee pads for holes 4, 6, and 8 has a nice picnic table.

+ If you're the only group out on the course, it can be a quiet and enjoyable round.

Cons:

- You may or may not have read my brief intro, if you didn't, I'll refresh you. The park is 3 acres. As a result, every hole is on top of another, with some near-crossing fairways. It's way too congested, and the holes that are here are pretty uneventful.

- Baskets are old and don't catch well. A couple are dented.

- A 9-holer with filler holes is never a good course, and there's a few at Sabo. #3 is just over 100', as well as #8.

Other Thoughts:

Sabo just doesn't have enough space for a 9-hole course. Lots of congestion, with boring throw after boring throw. I don't recommend playing unless you're a local looking to get some putting practice in.

Quiet Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 29, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

*DG only park, so no one else is around
*Nice baskets with numbers on top
*short but well designed for the space provide
*Numbered 6x6s are at the tee pads
* parking and porta potty on site
*great course for kids and others learning the game
*Provides options for different shots at the basket
*Park has Wi-Fi
*The city keeps their parks in very nice condition
*Many chances for an ace. Specifically holes 3,4,8,9

Cons:

*Gravel tee pads but the city says within 2 weeks cement will be poured
*No hole layout at the tee pads
*Small cramped holes, but I almost never encounter others playing here.
*mosquitos get bad later in the evenings
*9 holes but space is there for another 9 behind hole 4

Other Thoughts:

OVERALL, this course is a nice place for a quick round or to get your spouse and kids into the sport. Massillon Oak Ledges is about a 10 minute drive away as well.

More fun than I expected 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ All the baskets were there, contrary to what I had heard about this course. They were in good shape.

+ There was decent variety in the lines and hole lengths, though nothing over 325' unfortunately. Some degree of line shaping required, nothing very challenging.

+ The location was quiet and peaceful, we had the park to ourselves.

+ Navigation was simple.

Cons:

- The tee pads weren't in very good shape, however the holes are so short you don't really need to run up.

- The holes are all short and offer little challenge.

- If there were other people playing, you might bump shoulders once or twice.

Other Thoughts:

Sabo Park never seemed worth the trip based on what I had heard about it, but it wasn't worthless by any means. I played it with some friends and we enjoyed our round. We had a couple of exciting ace runs and its a course where a group of people with a pretty varied level of ability can play a competitive round.

If I lived nearby I'd use it to practice my midrange throws and putts. Otherwise I wouldn't go too far out of the way to play.

In addition to quality 18 hole courses nearby, Louisville's Wildwood Park is a bit more fun and Schneider Park more conveniently located as far as local 9 holes go.

Good for Practice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Located in a corner of the town of Brewster in a very nice neighborhood, Sabo Park offers a chance for a quick, casual, and beginner-friendly round. A parking lot is present, although it shares with the electric company. There is a Porta-John nearby and a course map greets you next to hole 1's tee and is well-appreciated. The holes travel around the small park in a counter-clockwise loop, with holes 1 and 9 finishing very close to the parking lot.

Wooden poles are in the ground and tell you which number the hole is and the baskets are in solid condition for the most part. I actually liked the feel of the gravel tee pads, but some were uneven.

Hole's 1, 2, and 6 are located directly behind trees, making putts a little bit tougher in some cases.

It is pretty open and I doubt anybody plays here often, so it would be a real good place to practice different kinds of shots. It is also a good course to play if you are limited on time (as it only took me 15 minutes to play) or are bringing a new player to. There are virtually no chances of losing discs, except if an errant shot went into the swamp that is to the right of hole 4.

Speaking of hole 4, that is IMO the best hole on this course by far. It has a slight elevation drop with a basket that is tucked to the right near some trees. You do not want to overshoot your disc here because of the swamp behind the basket, which adds to the challenge level a little bit.

Good opportunities for aces. I have never gotten an ace before but was close on a few holes at this course, showing how easy it is.

Cons:

-Other than the Porta-John, no amenities at all
-Holes 1 and 7 and 3, 6, and 8 collectively share two tee pads. This probably will not an interference since not many people play this course, but would be disruptive if there were multiple people playing at once. Also, the course is condensed into a small area, so holes overlap each other a good bit. This course would not function well at all if multiple people were playing at a time.
-The tee pads were very uneven for a few holes.
-The baskets are sturdy, but some of the chains are rusted. The hole numbers have also worn off the baskets, making it hard to know which basket is for which hole since they play so close together.
-Other than the slight elevation on hole 4, the course is completely flat.
-The holes are very repetitive and all have the same feel to them
-A lot of short holes, 5 under 250 feet and 3 under 200 feet.
-There are a few trees, but this course is limited in obstacles.

Other Thoughts:

Sabo Park is worth stopping to play a quick round at in order to course bag and I would only go out of your way to play here for that reason. However, if you live nearby, it could serve as a fun practice course or as a way to introduce people to disc golf. It's located near Lincoln Park, Arboretum-Spiker, and Deis Hill, so it's worth stopping at to bag between traveling to these other courses.

It's #1. No really, I give it a 1 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 2, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Small parking area at hole #1 in the power companies parking lot
- There is a baseball field about 200' away
- There is a small sign/billboard at hole #1
- The map posted in the billboard is accurate but hole #1 is marked as hole #7
- Gravel tees are okay, better than muddy natural tees, but they are uneven
- There are wooden kickboards at the front of the gravel tees
- I like the short wooden poles marking the tees with numbered labels
- The baskets are old but not in any kind of bad/rusty condition. They are also labeled which is a plus.
- Very low traffic by anyone
- No vandalism
- Grass seemed to be trimmed and maintained

Cons:

- No pavilion, benches or trashcans
- No multiple tees
- Scenery and landscape is bland and dull
- No bathrooms
- The distances seemed cramped with the small space this course covers. Even the two holes that reach 300' felt very cramped. If there was only one other group playing disc golf on this course you would have to keep a constant eye out because you could be hit or hit someone from just about any tee
- No elevation changes
- The flow is awkward and dangerous. At one point there are 3 tees in the same circle. Having said that, the designers did what they could with the area provided to them and I give them a thumbs up for trying.

Other Thoughts:

- Virtually no challenge but come here if you want some aces with putters.
- The most challenging hole was hole #4. 245' with a tree blocking a decent anny shot to the left and rough/trees/army depot to the right.
- Favorite hole is hole #7. After all the other holes it just felt great to rip one as hard as I could and loosen up my arm.
- I'm glad the course is there. I'm glad any disc golf course is anywhere. But this is a course for kids to get started on. This is not a 'destination' type course. This is something you do one time, just for fun, after hitting one of the good local courses.
- My hope is that this small course has gotten kids into disc golf in the past and will continue to do so.

Pee-Wee Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 30, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Layout would allow for younger kids to tag along and toss some discs.
Tees now have numbered posts for identification.

Cons:

Terrible layout and extremely confusing for the first couple of rounds.
Tee boxes are uneven and filled with loose stone taking away any possibility for a proper drive.
Fairways are non-existent and identifying the layout for most of the 9 holes is difficult.
Holes are all short and uneventful.
Baskets are not identified, requiring a lot of guesswork until you get familiar with the course.
Multiple players on this course would provide for lots of defensive measures due to the small layout and overlapping of holes and tees.

Other Thoughts:

A very small 9 hole course that doesn't have a good flow. If conditions and upkeep were better this could prove to be a nice practice course for midrange and putting. I played a handful of rounds during my visit carrying only two midranges and a putter.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

An excellent practice course for beginners. There is no real long holes. Plus you have enough twist to pose a certain amount of a challenge.

Cons:

the tees are just horrible. Some have gravel and some are just a board with hilly grass behind it. One even had a pot hole by it making it really easy to twist your ankle on your throw. No tee signs to mark the holes. Only one map to lay out the course.

Other Thoughts:

All in all if you are at Massillon. You could swing by this course if the 18 holes there were not enough for you.

Small but Nice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 25, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Mostly short holes, but enough trees to make it interesting. Nice little city park.

Cons:

No numbers on the baskets. Very easy to play to the wrong hole first time out.

Other Thoughts:

Most players would consider it too easy. It helps if you consider most holes to be par 2. Not worth a long drive to play here, but a fun diversion if travelling between Massillon, Dover &/or Wooster.
