Pros:

What a gem tucked away in the mountains south of Helena. Having played hundreds of courses, the setting is worth its weight in gold. This course is cleverly laid out using the terrain, boulders, trees (fallen and standing) and targets optimally. Fabulous views and incredible granite outcroppings surround you as you navigate up and down the hillsides and ravines.
- Very technical
- Great use of terrain and other obstacles
- Creative and varied hole placements/configurations
- Minimal impact on the feeling of pristine wilderness
- Better exercise than just a walk in the park
- Fun, fun fun!

Cons:

- No Baskets, tee pads, or signs
- Tricky putting, especially on a windy day.

Other Thoughts:

Even without tee pads, cages, and signage, the course was fairly easily figured out, especially with U Disc app. In fact, the lack of tee pads, baskets and signs helped keep the pristine natural beauty of the course. A joy to play and I couldn't wait to see what the next hole would be like. And did I mention FUN to play!!!!

I played the Hyzer Hills course the day before and it was outright boring compared to this course. The location itself is deserving of a 3.5 rating and the joy factor brings it to a 4. You only find courses like this in the west. If you need a bit more length, I recommend Blue Mountain up the road near Missoula. Also a beauty.

Pros:

Mountain Discgolf on around some Huge Granite Boulders
You really should check out the Boulders on this Course, waba-waba!

Even for a DGC that is generally considered Pitch-n-Putt... Sheeps is still a very Fun, Scenic, and Challenging Discgolf experience

Targets for the 18 were mostly if not all, Silver, as memory serves
The 'Extra Loop' had a Mix of Orange, Green, or half Orange/Green

After Locating the 1st Tee and the Target for Hole 2, navigation was not difficult for the main 18

The 'Extra' stuff isn't too difficult either, until you have to go to the Holes Up Right, then you'll need to do some scouting
All these Holes are definitely Worth figuring out and Playing too

Played with Just Putters and Mids, and had a Blast!

With all the Huge Boulders and Washouts, it reminds me of a Little Bucksnort out there
Especially after watching my Sixth extra-long Rollaway :p

Losing Plastic shouldn't be of much Concern, at least in Late June it wasn't

14? Where you throw up onto the Boulders, sure has a Pretty View when the Sun's going Down

Cons:

Tees not always obvious, but typically they were near the prior Target

There's some spots where there's a Wrong Target in View, could cause some confusion

If you showed up unaware of the 'Extended' Layout, navigation would become pretty confusing around 15ish

Other Thoughts:

Some Blind Targets
2 is up over and down the Hill, Low, Right of 3s Tee
6 is Down between the Ridges. There's an Arrow pointing Up, spraypainted by the Tee, but that's 1s Target up there
7 is In-between the Boulders by the Lot
16 is Down Right

Bringing a Local your First time would be smart, but it wasn't terribly Difficult to Figure out, even with two hours of Daylight left

Copy of the Map was pretty Handy. Thanks to whomever provided it :D

Pros:

Beautiful location! We loved playing through the trees and boulders! No baskets, instead all holes had some sort of noise maker, which made for some fun and interesting times!

Cons:

Absolutely no markings whatsoever. We just started at a random hole and worked our way around. Many times we could not see the next pin, and had to wander around looking for it. In the end we counted at least 20 different pins, but we played only the first 18 we came to.

Other Thoughts:

This course could do for some major signage upgrades, or at least a course map so that we knew where we were going next. Other than that we had a blast, and it was well worth it just to get out into nature and have fun!

Fun Putt-Putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 6, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a fun course nestled in the mountains outside of Clancy. There is plenty of elevation, large boulders, tight shots, open fairways, and interesting angles. The course is somewhat out-of-the-way, so there tend to be very few crowds ever.

Cons:

The main problem with Sheep Mountain is the fact that you really only need your putters to play it. There are maybe 2 or 3 holes on the entire course that play longer than 250' or so.

If you do not have a guide, you will not find the holes. The first few are tolerable, but mostly you will be wandering semi-randomly through the woods.
