Nine Baskets, but 18 Different Holes to Play

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

`
Mostly good holes on this course on church grounds (public welcome). One of the best "18 holes using 9 baskets" I've experienced. The designer/builder/pastor has put a lot of effort into creating varied holes requiring different shots to the same baskets.

A very good course for beginners, with enough challenge to interest more experienced recreational players

Baskets are white DD Patriots; tees (in progress) are turf. Signage is still temporary, but the baskets are clearly marked with permanent signage indicating the two holes played to them (ex. 9 and 18). Navigation aids are being installed - in the meantime, use uDisc.

Loaner box full of discs at the first tee; cart-friendly; plenty of parking; Property is used periodically by the church and other organizations for events.

Mostly open, but there are a few fairways cut through bordering woods, and a wooded tunnel hole. Some mild elevation change on some holes.

Cons:

`
- When I played in early 2024, a recent redesign was in place, but not all of the tees and signage had been changed. A couple of rules of thumb: use uDisc for each 9 - it's up to date. Pay attention to the direction of any turf tees. They're replacing the previous stone tees, although some of the stones remain. Based on the energy that's being put into the course, these "cons" may no longer apply

Other Thoughts:

`
~ If the course is busy, you might have some congestion issues since the two nines use the same baskets

~ Each nine can be completed in 30-40 minutes. It gets quicker playing the second nine because you've seen the baskets and some of the tees playing the first nine. Make sure to budget time to play both nines!

~ This is so much better than 18's with nine baskets which simply create the second nine by just placing tees slightly behind or slightly off-angle to the first nine. There are several holes that play through tight woods on one nine, and open doglegs on the other nine. It's a short course and a quick play. Nominally a 3.0, but the cleverness of the design earned extra credit
