The Pentacostals

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

-- Hole 9 is moderately interesting with a creek about 20 feet left of the fairway the entire way. There is plenty of room to play wide right to take the creek out of play. Unfortunately, a large pile of unused bricks was dumped about 30 feet short of the basket.
-- Baskets are numbered.

Cons:

-- No tee signs.
-- Concrete tee pads, but they are small at 4x8 and 1-2 inches taller than the surrounding ground; any sort of run-up is difficult at best.
-- Baskets are Axiom Pros and not in good shape. A couple are leaning, one very badly. Also, they are all about 6-8 inches too high.
-- No trees in any fairway. On Nos. 1 and 8, you could finds trees with a sawed-off RHBH shot, but it's not likely. No. 4 has an OB fence lining the right edge about 30 feet away.
-- Three times the preceding basket is in a reasonable flight path for the following hole.
-- No map.
-- No restroom.
-- No water.
-- No seating at tees. Not a big deal for a 9-hole course.

Other Thoughts:

-- The course is in an open field behind the church and across the small creek.
-- The front of the church sits on the frontage road for Interstate 20, so it's an easy off and back on (a big bonus for course baggers).

Could be a lot better

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

9 baskets. Concrete tee pads. Probably never crowded. Very close to I-20 for bagging purposes. Navigation fairly easy. Grass was cut

Cons:

Tee pads are way too short and not flush with ground. No signs at all. Course holds water. #9 basket is sitting in an area difficult to play and even get to because of high grass and creek/ditch water issues. Virtually unplayable. Not much variety at all

Other Thoughts:

This is a church course mostly set around an open field. No par listed but they would have to be all par 3
One hole looks to be about 220 and the rest look to be between 260 and 320(educated guess). They crisscross back and forth across the field except for 9 which you wouldn't want to Play right now. Baskets are ok but are set into the ground a little higher than usual. I feel like with a redesign and some signage this could be decent. There are small wooded areas around the field that are not used. Tuck a basket up against the trees or do a small cutout and you might have a real course lol.
