Pros:

UW Green Bay's DGC is basically like your standard park style course in a well populated area. Nine holes with well worn natural tees and a simplistic but effective layout. The course plays on two sides of the main entrance road. Holes 1,2 and 9 are on the north side and the others are on the south side with the course starting and ending by the lot north of Weidner Center Dr.

The baskets are old and abused Innova Discatchers. Standard looking models. Yellow bands make them easy to spot and they last forever. These things look like hell but catch just fine after all these years. One basket and pin placement per hole.

The flow of the course is pretty straightforward. No next tee arrows are needed with the well worn paths between holes. Even without these it's about as basic as can be.

There's tee signs on every hole. Just like the baskets, they're beat up but still kicking. Generic hole map, hole # and pars for both beginners and advanced. These are mounted on large 4x4's which denote the tee area as well.

The course features some slight elevation and a few trees to spice things up a bit. The first two holes along with hole 8 are the only ones with trees "actually" in the fairway. There are other holes were the tree line looms off to one side or the other though. The wind can get pretty ferocious out here too which adds a third element you'll need to deal with.

Free to play and seems to be well maintained from what I saw out here.

Cons:

The tee pads are kind of a mess. Very rutted out and uneven, which is not unusual for a campus course like this. Not ideal by any means though and I'd imagine these are a mess in wetter conditions.

The tee sign for hole 3 is just past hole 2's basket, which is not where the Udisc map showed it being. You'll want to walk across the road to the south to find the rut where it's actually located. Or at least where people play it from. Which does make all the sense anyway by taking the road out of play.

Holes 4 and 5's fairways run parallel and could pose some safety concerns if busy. College kids have no fear, I have some fear of getting smoked by a college kids errant drive these days though.

The design is sketchy in spots buts I won't go into specifics. Let's just say that it's a minor miracle this course hasn't been pulled after all these years due to just one Champ Boss griplock.

Other Thoughts:

Pretty standard college campus 9. Nothing to write home about but would be damn fun to hit up for a round or two while living on campus. Not worth any type of trip out of your way but you could certainly do worse than this one. Good for what it is.

Decent campus 9 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 7, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

9 hole course that plays on an open space of land on the UW-GB campus.

Discatcher baskets, in decent repair, and caught well. They are starting to show some age, though. It looked like there were alternate pin positions on some holes.

Nice use of the available elevation. About half the holes work up, down, or around some rolling hills.

A smattering of mature trees helps to force some lines. Hole 3 has a nice tree group that is jail if you end up there.

Decent distance mixing. Nothing here is too awfully short, and there's a chance or two to throw some longer drives.

Cons:

They have nice, big color signs here...with no distance on them. Call me crazy, but leaving the second most important information for a hole off is inexcusable. Navigation isn't too bad here, but with lots of baskets in a field, it can get you turned around.

Several of the holes are basically wide open.

Natural tee pads, which leave a little bit to be desired. One tee per hole.

Being on campus, no booze. This sucks, cuz I likez to get drunk, homie.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, this isn't a great course, but it's not terrible, either. A few hills and some distance add a bit of spice. A nice spot for college kids to get rid of their aggressions.

Not worth going out of your way for, but a decently fun little spin.
