New baskets, pads, and signs really boosted the replay potential with this course. New holes also make for some nice distance shots as well. A great place to play a quick round.

After a good rain, this course holds water well and the mosquitoes are crazy.

It keeps getting better a little bit at a time.

+ Louisville's only course is located at Wildwood Park, a rustic piece of land with a few hills and plenty of scattered trees. The course was designed in 1999 and finished in 2000. I don't think the design has changed much since.

+ Features some tough, technical shots through mature trees with a few changes in elevation. While the course lacks distance, you'll still be challenged by the thick tree growth.

+ Tee signs aren't that bad, they serve their purpose and make it easy to find the basket from the tee.

+ Navigation is made simple thanks to "next tee" arrows on most baskets.

+ Two sets of unique tees for beginners and intermediate level players.

- The course is getting up there in age, and so are the baskets. Every basket is rusted and doesn't catch very well. A few signs are also worn or missing.

- 10 holes is an intimate squeeze. Fairways run a little close together, so you'll be familiar with any other group on the course.

- Every hole plays in the dense wooded area. No chances to air out the disc. Also, most holes are dead straight with no variation in shape.

- Natural tees are starting to rut, so teeing off on the sides of the tee area might be a good idea to avoid injury.

Wildwood is starting wear down a little bit, so improvements are needed within the next few years. It's a nice place to practice with some unique lines to the pin, but there aren't enough fun or unique holes to make you want to return. Old school course that needs to baskets and tees!

Don't waste you time coming here, there are many courses that are way more fun around this area

- Small parking area. Two pavilions with multiple grills.
- Baseball fields on both sides along with a kids' play area
- Two porto-potties, one on each side of the park
- Map on site is very handy and accurate
- Two tees per hole. Note that the majority of the long tees were only marked by a post in the ground. Some of those posts had a hand painted map on them.
- Natural tees are mostly in good condition
- Tee signs help some to keep you on track
- Signs to next tee located on Tee Signs and also on a few baskets
- Baskets are in decent shape. A few are a bit rusty like on #7.
- Love the low hanging basket on #7
- For a small park it's surprising to find that there are 5 holes out of 10 that are over 300' and due to the amount of trees and obstacles you will need a mixture of shots to get to the pin. Note that even though some of the holes are nearly 400' you will not be bombing here that much as the majority of the course is tight and technical.
- It is a pretty park that is well mowed with some beautiful trees. The best way to describe this small park is 'relaxing'. It is out of the way and very quiet when it's not busy.
- Small amount of elevation really adds to this park. #2 throws over a small hill while #4 is along a heavily wooded side of a hill. #10 throws out over a low lying area and leads back up to the basket (watch the pavilion on the right and a swamp on the left!)
- Trash cans located at the parking lot and pavilions

- Basket labels would add a lot to the course even with the accurate map on site. Sometimes it's tough to tell if the basket you are looking at from the tee is really your basket or not when you haven't played the course before.
- Simple kick boards added to the holes that currently have nothing on them would also add a lot to the course
- Signs at #4, #5, #7 & #9 need to be updated. They all read as one hole lower. I'm guessing that the course was adjusted to add in a 10th hole but the signs were never finished. This caused a bit of confusion on our part.
- Hole #6 Long Tee was so overgrown it couldn't be used
- Ugly swampy mess to the left of #10's fairway which is probably the reason that this place is completely overrun with mosquitoes.
- Can't tell if there is vandalism, I think the signs were just trashed by weather. But many of the sign posts were just empty with no sign in them.

- Previous reviewers listed this course as not being busy at all, so I could just be unlucky. I was there trying to play when there were two HUGE parties going on at the park. This made it completely impossible to play and we had to leave. I wont list this as a con but just note that if this course has some people there, it makes playing disc golf impossible. There were so many children running around the fairways and baskets playing catch that it became too dangerous and risky to stay.
- The flow can be a bit confusing but I do understand that they were trying to make the holes as long as possible and use as much of the land as they could. A few things to note is that #1 long crossed over #6's fairway and so does the longs for #3 & #10. The flow does work pretty good at keeping most of the tees a decent distance from the previous baskets so you don't have people throwing at you if it's crowded. Another place that can be a bit confusing is the walk from #5 to #6 and #8 to #9.
- The course is semi challenging overall. There were some very tight spots that would be very easy to make a mistake and cost you a few strokes. For example, Hole #1 from the long tee starts across the road with a narrow opening to get through and a parking lot to the left.
- This is not a Must go to course, but it is worth checking out if you are close by and as long as you take a map with you. You'll need it due to the mismarked holes so you don't have to run back to Hole #1 to view the map posted there. There is some potential here; have the signs updated, hit it up when it's not as busy and the swamp is dried up and the SWARM of mosquitoes have died off...

Played two rounds on an Autumn afternoon and wasn't too impressed initially, however my attitude become more positive as we played on. No doubt the course has been neglected and some long overdue attention and upgrades would be extremely beneficial. Moderate to heavily wooded all 10 holes require precise technical throws as well as some luck to avoid the trees. You are not going to bomb drives out here, but it's challenging for your mid ranges and putters. Sometimes it's nice to just be able to pull out a few discs, leave your bag in the car and play.....that is what Wildwood offers here. I doubt it ever gets crowded and many of the holes are unique and fun.

Map makes it simple enough to navigate.

Crossing fairways, tees near fairways, tees near baskets.. Some hole/tee/map mis-match numbering. Could not find long tee for hole, umm, number 5-1/2, I guess. Not sure how often the shelters and picnic tables are used, but their usage certainly would interfere with holes 2-4 and 9. Parking lot and circular road come into play on 1 and 5-8.

Course plays within, and, at times, across, a partially wood ridge and clearing circumscribed by the circular access road of a small public park. Dodging the trunks of large hardwoods is the challenge you'll face initially, and hitting specific windows and lines are your primary task the second half of the course. Many holes are flat, while a few of a elevation change at various points.

Makes pretty good use of the limited space, elevation changes, and large scattered hardwoods to force shot-shaping, but if you notice a filled parking lot and much activity about the shelters, don't even bother stopping your car.

-As of September 2019, brand new baskets, paved tees for the shorts, and three additional new holes. Wildwood is now a 13 hole course.

- The new holes add variety to the layout. They offer some longer, more wide open shots to contrast with the short wooded holes from the original layout.

- The course looks as good as it ever has. There are paved tees for the short tees. Maps and metal signs as well. Brand new baskets. 13 holes rather than the original 9. Fairways have cleared out over the years as trees have been knocked down, so some holes have opened up.

-Some very enjoyable short, technical holes. Awesome tunnel shots, left and right turning fairways, and multiple routes you can take to the basket. Hole 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 (shorts) are my personal favorites, along with hole 2, 3, 6, 9 and 10 long. From the short tees there are many ace runs.

-Usually you'll have the course to yourself.

-Small, compact park can be played in half an hour. Multiple rounds are quick to play due to the short holes, short walks between tees and good course flow.

-It's a great beginner course. There's little chance of losing a disc, the smaller holes don't require a big arm, and the trees will force players to make controlled shots.

-Lots of benches and pavilions to rest at. Grills for cooking food. Also a Giant Eagle, gas station and drive-through convenience store right down the road for picking up refreshments.

-The holes are pretty short and easy for experienced players. It's not quite pitch and putt, but expect a lot of deuces. You'll have to make good throws to park holes, but none of the holes are difficult to par, and only a few are tricky to get a 2 on. It's fun but not very tough.

-There's no longer a hanging basket. That was a unique feature for the course.

-The pro tee for old hole #6 had a large tree fall in front of it. There is a new long tee that has you throwing from a different angle, but the old long tee was more fun.

NOTE - Every review besides this one is out of date. Wildwood now has brand new baskets, paved tees and three brand new holes. Navigation has improved a ton over the years. The course is higher quality than the reviews indicate.

Wildwood is a great 13 hole course that I think is pretty under rated. It's a good example of how to do a short layout in a compact area yet avoid crossing fairways and keep each shot unique from the last. Wildwood is an excellent park to hone your putter and midrange driving skills.

I gave the course a pretty high rating, because the shot selection is very enjoyable, and I appreciate the secluded feeling of the park. I find my rounds very relaxing and enjoyable at Wildwood.

Here are some tips for helping first-timers navigate the course...

-The short tees are where the metal sign posts are. Pro tees are where the wooden posts are. There is a large, main sign / map at the entrance, and small hand-drawn maps at all the pro tees.

-To start, look for the big metal sign post near the main parking lot with the colorful sign on it. Walk a little past that towards where the road narrows and you'll find tee #1, with the short tee being near the course map and the long tee being across the road. You'll be throwing towards the pavilion near the entrance of the park at the basket on the hill. The basket near hole 1 short is hole 10's basket.

-After throwing hole #7, you need to cross the stream and go near the metal fence to throw hole #8. Sometimes there is a bridge over the stream near 7's basket.

• Some challenging technical holes.

• Impossible to navigate. Multiple tee signs -- some have 4x4 posts with barely legible maps for some holes, some have metal tee signs with the information panel missing. Some holes have both! Super confusing.
• The park is small, there's lots of overlap on the holes. Baskets are in passable condition but very old.
• Baskets are not marked as to which hole they are for.
• Park is beat down and difficult to find.

I was relatively close to the area when I played, and the other reviews here seemed to imply it was worth a quick game.

I found it to be a waste of time & gas. I couldn't even play the course due to the confusing nature of the setup.

The only reason I gave the course an extra 1/2 disc rating was because it's a full course with all 9 baskets and two tees.

Otherwise I would avoid this one. There are plenty of excellent courses relatively close to here that are far more worth your time to drive to them than to spend time at this stinker.

**They Have made really nice changes to this park. They have added an extra hole between what use to be 2 & 3. The Different tees are now better Defined . Changed some tee posistions

Very fun technical coarse. 9 Holes in all with multiple tees on most.

Hole 9 is the best on this course ,and the longest. Plays from the gazebo across the big field in the middle which is sometimes flooded out.

Hole 2 use to be the best . Forces to throw a long drive , As low as 6ft to avoid hanging tree branches.

Plays close to traffic. Rain can sometimes flood the park making new water hazards. Signage is old and outdated. No tee pads .

. Parking lot becomes a factor on several holes. The street becomes a factor on the others. Most of the second tees are hard to find. I really like the new long tee for 5

playground pavilion and baseball field.

Very nice nine holes. A short and mild hills course. Wonderful for relaxing.

Picnic area really close to shots. I would hate to hit some kid not paying attention. Also when it rains. Water can really get in the way. For instance there is an area that floods every time so technically it is not a water hole.

Avoid the trees and get a great score. Easier said then done. The very first hole will tell you that you have a couple of paths to get around but there is no sure thing. I use the throw and pray technique. .

Nice small course to cut your teeth. Technical with trees and pin placement, yet accessable to the beginner for the distances are not that great.

Course does tend to turn you around once or twice and it is hard to figure out where the next tee or pin may be. Better signs would help.

Overall, this course is good if you want something a little different than what is normally out there. It offers a technical 9 holes but not in the deep forests that most seem to be in. Was enjoyable to play.

A nice park to develop your short game accuracy. The abundance of large trees makes the course both challenging and scenic. Nine holes that can be played in a short amount of time without being a "gimme" course. Tucked away but not hard to find.

If you're looking to air out some bombs in your afternoon, this won't fit the bill. The more densely wooded holes could be frustrating for some beginner players.

As a newer player, I thought this was a fun little course. The course becomes easier to navigate if you follow the arrow markers on top of each basket that point toward the next tee. It was quiet and clean, and used its limited space very well. If you want to challenge your short game, or don't have a huge arm, this might be right up your alley. Have fun.

Generally, there are not a lot of other golfers there much of the time. It is a very quiet course and is in a great location.

If you do not like a lot of trees, this is not the course for you. It is very hard to get to hole to hole, even though there are only 9 holes in all. There are no long drives but are all mostly short par 3s.

This park is only really good for practice. If you are looking for a nice course to play on, this is not it.

A wonderful 9 hole course that challenges placement and short game. Trees are plenty with a creek coming into play on 2 holes. Hole 6 has a hanging basket.

The course layout does get confusing at times. The park does get busy in the afternoons and evenings, so watch out for walkers/kids/picnickers/baseball players. Some shots cross over the road so you'll have to watch out for cars as well.

Overall a nice course to start beginners on. Course is well maintained by a disc golf fanatic. Course is also great for just throwing an ultimate disc.
