The little 9 holer by the lake 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 19, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has a nice mix of short, moderate, and longer holes. It uses the trees that are present well and the elevation is incorporated nicely.
The grounds were well maintained and there are other amenities here such as a playground and obviously the lake.
Signage was good and the Re-Tire baskets catch well.
Rounds should play quickly here and ACE RUNS are possible too.
Nice view of the lake.

Hole observations:
Holes 1-3 All use the slope of the terrain nicely and there are trees to help shape lines.
Hole 4-downhill shot
Hole 5-???(see cons)
Hole 6-plays uphill
Hole 7-Longest hole and a straight shot
Hole 8-shorter hole with a couple of trees to throw between
Hole 9-uphill shot that has a low ceiling, seems to favor a RHFH throw IMO

Cons:

Hole 5 was completely underwater tee sign, basket, and all. I have no idea how that hole would've played due to the flooding of the lake upon my visit. Also the tee marker for 6 was half way under water as well.
Holes 7 and 8 have you throwing over a road and next to parking areas so paying attention would be well advised.
No trash cans or benches, this is always a nice amenity.
2's tee sign was completely faded and not readable.
9's tee area was showing some signs of rutting and being as the tee area is uphill footing could be an issue here.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good nine hole course that would be a place to introduce a new player to the game. It will challenge you but not frustrate you at the same time. This would be a good place for some relaxing rounds by the lake with the family. Not a destination course but a good play if you are in the area.

Pros:

Close to home for me and park keeps it in good condition. A nice variety of shots and challenges for a beginner.

Cons:

Could get harder to throw with more campers and park goers during the nicer times of the year. Hole 5 as stated earlier can be flooded if water level gets up very much. Some of the holes have very unlevel tees that have eroded a bit making footing difficult. Christmas time is bad time to play. Decorations and lights were strung across most of the holes and made it very difficult to play most of them.

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 7, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is well marked with a course map at Tee #1 and markers with par info at every Tee.

Staff at the state park are great and are hoping to bring in a lot more players.

Discs are available for rent and purchase in the park admin building.

Cons:

Hole #5 was poorly designed, it's placed in a low spot right next to the lake that floods easily and becomes unplayable. They could have easily avoided this and it should be moved. It remains flooded several months out of the year.

Other Thoughts:

Great course for new and experienced players. The views of the lake and the ever changing forest are well worth the trip to this course.

Pros:

The course is set upon an peninsula in the Wister Lake State Park. There is a nice course map at the start of the course, each hole has a decent sign with distance and a bit of a diagram.(You can see the basket on every teepad.(Kind of a con) The course does offer some distance change with a short 190' ace run to a 420' bomber. Each hole as a concrete toe board embedded in the ground to signify the end of the tee. Also, with the course being set on a hillside there is a bit of elevation in play too. Course flows well and can be played in timely matter(took me 25 minutes solo).

Cons:

The course is fairly open has some trees in play but an errant shot is never punished and a recovery shot can be made with ease. The course itself plays around a Picnic area/ Hillside, i could see some interference with other park goers during the nicer times of the year. The baskets although hand-made caught rather well and were nicely designed(not considered much of a con). Tee pads were natural, with time they will erode.

Other Thoughts:

This courses is a basic beginner course nothing special or challenging but its a place play and if i was in the area i would totally hit up the course. I traveled from Paris, TX just to get some extra courses in on my month long DG voyage back to Wisco.
