View Full Version : Welcome to Disc Golf Course Review!
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to welcome everyone to DGCR!
Seeing as the site has just launched there are probably a few bugs left to be found. If you run into any please let me know by posting here, emailing, etc.
Questions and comments regarding the site can be directed my way as well. I will do my best to fix any problems or implement any suggestions I get. I do have a few additions planned for the site but I'm always open to new ideas :)
So, thanks for taking the time to visit and enjoy the site!

Tim... just signed up... curious how I can add courses to be reviewed (basically everything here in charlotte)
Hey stack,
You inadvertently helped me find the first bug :) You should be able to go to the regular site now and you'll see more option in the menu bar (specifically "add course").

Raoul,
Welcome to the site :) The link you posted requires registration so a lot of people may not be able to see it.

how can i put hole by hole information on a course?
barking_spider,
When you add a course you should get a page after you enter the basic course info that will let you put in hole-by-hole info. If you want to do it on an existing course, make sure you're logged in and click the "Hole Info" tab of the course you want to update. You should see a link towards the bottom of the page that says "Update Hole Info". Click that and you're in business.

Maybe I just missed the link, but I want to review a course and cannot find the menu with the "add course" option. Is this on the home page, under browse courses, or somewhere else?
The forums and the home page have separate logins which tends to e a bit confusing at first. Once you login on the home page you should see the proper options in the main menu.
To review a course you just find the course you want to review, click the "Reviews" tab and then click "Review this course".

Thanks for the opportunity to discuss our course on your site. We are trying to bring the sport to as many people as possible and get as much feedback from players as possible. Whenever you get a chance please feel free to look us up and play a round or two on our course.

Great site Tim! I know I'm quite a ways from where you guys are, but I do believe the DG community is global, so I'll chime in from the left coast. And hey some of you guys might be headed out this way, and vice-a-versa, and need a guide. Again, great site, it will really link your local community together and with other DG communities too.
Glad you like it J-Man.. hopefully the site will make it easier to find course information, pictures, etc. when you're traveling to different areas and maybe some courses that might otherwise be overlooked will get some play due to the reviews and pictures on here.
The site is still a work in progress and I have a long "to do" list of features I want to add so hopefully it will only get better! It will become more and more useful as other disc golfers find out about it too so feel free to share the site with your friends :)

Just wanted to chime in on the first DGCR forum thread ever.
Looking back through some of the old threads it's amazing how much the site has evolved, all in a good way.
Tim: this site rocks and is a HUGE service to DG'ers everywhere. Keep up the great work. I really appreciate it!

Yeah, there can never be enough said about this place and the dedication put into it. Plus, we have a great group of people who really help out in making grow. SO thanks to all of you too.
Thanks guys :) It really is amazing to see how much things have grown since I first started the site. A lot of the credit can be attributed to the awesome members here. Tons of great suggestions for stuff to add, tweak, etc. really make a huge difference.

I also would like to express my appreciation for both the forum and the review site. What a great resource. Thanks to all of us that keep it going, and to the men "behind the curtain" that keep things running so well. Thanks all, and happy holidays!

I thought I'd bring this little bit of history back to life. This was the very first DGCR thread!
As the old cigarette ad used to say, "You've come a long way baby!"

I wonder how many courses Donovan, Eric J, Olorin and others had played before finding this site. I had played 8. Now at 53 and that is with 6 months off with a shoulder injury. This site made me aware of all of the courses around me and lit a fire that made me want to play new courses as much as possible. Freaking addict(me), and don't forget the pusher(Timg).

When I joined the site a year and a half ago, I had played about 60 courses, this site really got me hooked on playing and talking about new and different courses.

Wow. You have bagged about 280 courses in a 1 1/2 yrs. Dude, you might catch Danhyzer before MartinD.:hfive: Of course we are talking 3-6 yrs down the road. I assume Danhyzer is still bagging courses out there, probably is today as he closes in on 800. That's just silly.:)

Its funny how many of the people who wrote on the very first thread have only played one course still and/or reviewed only one, or only on the site at the beginning. Why were they on so early but then never came back. It sounded like one was a course owner or something.

Dan is still playing, I talked to him a while back on here.
Mashnut I didnt know you had played 60 before you joined the site. I joined the site the week of playing my first 7 courses so I got in on the ground level. I also thought you had just started playing the game, I didnt realize you played for 8 years now.

Danhyzer is still alive and well and just wanted to thank Tim and all of our friends that help make this picticular website my favorite. I'm constantly dreaming of new trips to add to my already fun disc golf adventures by going to the map browser and searching for new DGC that I haven't played.
I got a long way to go though before I reach the totals of my traveling Disc Golf heros... Greg Hosfeld and Ben Calhoun. As they're well over 1000 DGC played. But I'm not in any race to pass someone as I just want to play as many DGC as God will give me the opportunity to play.
for everyone I got to shooooot a round with this year and (in years past) and for everyone that loves DG. May the course be with you---------- - +

Thank You timg, for creating such a welcoming place. Where disc golfers of all skill levels can come together and share our passion. You should be proud of Yourself for encouraging so many people to get out, meet and travel, and find life's new adventures.

I've only played seriously for a little more than two years now, and I had never played competitively or really thought at all about technique before this site. It's changed my game, and really cemented the addiction to playing new courses.

I wonder how many courses Donovan, Eric J, Olorin and others had played before finding this site.
I'd been throwing golf discs for barley over three months when I joined DGCR. I had about 15 courses played at that point.

I wonder how many courses Donovan, Eric J, Olorin and others had played before finding this site.
By January 2006 I had played and personally reviewed every public and private course in North Carolina, and I was a PDGA Course Evaluator for NC.
By June 2007 when DGCR started there were a few new NC courses that I hadn't played yet. I think at that point I had 80 played in 10 states. DGCR was just what I had been looking for. Thanks again Tim!

Before joining this site, I had no idea how many courses there were in DFW. I had played only 3, and only knew of about 2 more. I also played only once or twice a month. Now? Well, that's between me and my therapist :p.
