I found this article this morning and thought I'd pass it along. It highlights how beautiful of a destination this park is. Makes my desire to go there even greater than it was before. Too bad it's literally 2,300 miles away... kind of makes a road trip out of the question. :(

Fly into PDX, couch surf at other DGer's houses, play Milo, play the other great courses, eat some good food, fly home.

I'm 6'7" and 300+ pounds... I try to avoid airplanes at all costs.

Yeah, McIver's nice, but I don't think it's worth travelling 2000 miles for, when you have so many equally great courses in Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky, etc.

Remember, a puff piece like that can make ANY park sound like heaven on earth.

I don't know, it is an amazing course with great camping. I think it would be worth the trip....assuming your not 6'7 and 300 pounds. Maybe you could take a train. = )

Wagon trains are leaving Missouri in March or April depending on spring rains.

You know, you said that jokingly, but I bet Amtrak wouldn't be a bad idea for something like this. I'm sure my wife would love it.

Now that I actually think about it, it'd probably take a week to get there by train. Airplane now sounds quite reasonable in comparison.

If you even a little bit serious, I'd like to vouch for the Portland area as a great disc golf vacation area. There are three really top notch, beautiful courses in and around Portland; Milo, Pier Park which is in Portland and Adair which is about 30 minutes south in Corvallis. And there are many other courses in Portland worth playing.

And I'm from Washington not Oregon so admitting this is not so easy.

90 minutes south.

Hmm... sounds like I better think late March/April then. Thanks.

Cancel that order! I can not in good faith reccommend the Pacific Northwest in January or February. It would be cold, wet and miserable. You would hate it. Come in the summer or fall. July through September would be best.

March = 50° and wet. April = 60° and wet. :)

Granted, you'll get some sunbreaks (this is a common weather forecast word out here) by March, but you might also get dumped on.

So basically you're saying if I take a four day weekend and fly out there with my wife we're either going to wind up really happy or really wet? :)

At least in March/April I won't have to worry about the wetness coming in the form of snow.

You don't usually have to worry about that in January & February either; it very rarely snows here. But if you want to plan a trip to the Pacific Northwest, I'd shoot for May through early October.

Milo is the bomb. It easily made it to the top of my courses played list... and I didn't even shoot that well (22+ on 27 holes - probably 10 strokes too many for me).
And like The Valkyrie Kid said there are many other great courses in Oregon. I've played Pier and Adair as well - top notch stuff.
And better yet, the Portland/Oregon Micro-Brew scene is off the hook as well. It is definately one of the best states you could travel through to play DG and drink great beer.
