I've heard the term "beadless" disc and "Big Bead" etc. I thought I knew where the "bead" was on my putter but now I'm not so sure. Can someone explain (picture please) where the "bead" is located on a disc?
Or show a putter with a "bead" & maybe a "beadless" model?

I believe the "bead" is how rounded the bottom of the disc is. And by "bottom" I mean the part that touches the table if you lay the disc face-up on one. "Big bead" will have a noticable raised, rounded ring at the very bottom. Sorry no picture.

Says you have a cobra in your bag. If a bead is what I think it is, then it has a small one at the bottom. O found a pic (http://discards.org/images/600_binM_039.jpg), sorta.

Yeah, you can see the raised ridge in adam's pic.

If you can find both, hold up an "Aviar Putt & Approach" and an "Aviar Driver" side by side...look at the very bottom of the rim and you'll see the difference. The Aviar P&A (regular productin run DX Aviars) has no bead, and the Aviar Driver (KC Pro Aviar & Star Aviar Driver) has a big bead.

Innova used to also produce a "small bead" Aviar, which fell in between the P&A and the Driver mold in terms of bead size. Although Innova only produces the small-bead Aviar as a fundraiser disc these days, Millennium still produces this exact same mold as the "Omega".

I tend to use both big bead and small bead depending on the shot. I putt with star small bead Aviar drivers and throw within 100 feet my big bead Aviar drivers. I THINK that you can still find them in star at discgolf center. Not sure though....good luck.
