For you guys that have played williamson county in Leander, TX.: How do they work the pay to play? I live in S. Austin and am planning on making a trip to play this course and maybe Rivery park, but I was wondering how they collect the fees. I want to start early.
Also, if you could choose any other course to play in this vicinity which would it be?

They have little envelopes with reciepts attached at the bulletin board that's located at tee pad #1. You put your dollar in, seal it up, tear off your reciept, put the envelope in a drop box and your ready to play. They have scoredcards with map on the back at the bulletin board also which you'll need your first time.
Stay away from the other three courses in Leander. They are crap. I would definitely play Rivery Park in Georgetown. You MUST print a map and take with you or navigation will be a nightmare. Tee pad #6 is where most people get lost. After you finish 5 you go under the big bridge. As soon as you pass the bridge you have to find a sidewalk on your left. That is the #6 tee pad. You throw straight down that sidewalk and it doglegs right at the end of the sidewalk.
I also reccomend San Gabriel Park in Georgetown. It is <1 mile from Rivery Park. It is a beautiful John Houck 9 holer.

Don't go after it's rained for a while. They close the course to prevent erosion and we got shut out when we tried to play on our Austin trip last Spring.

Good point- I just updated the course info. so that people can actually know that before driving all the way out there in the rain. Surprised (not that surprised) no one has yet.
