I used to be a flick dominant player but eventually realized that it was very stressful on my arm so i have recently made the switch to backhand which i cant complain about from a consistency standpoint. There are still situations where a nice easy forehand is called for, and when i bring it out of the bag a pain shoots down from my buttocks to the back of my knee. My friend (a physical therapy student) told me it sound like sciatic nerve problems, with possible scar tissue creating some tensions on the nerve. Has anyone else had this kind of problem, and what did you do about it? Stretching doesnt seem to help because its not muscular.
Any doctors out there with some advice?

Have you tried a chiropractor, doctors don't like them but I've known people that swear by the results.

Pete- congrats on par. I have heard athletes from many sports complain of similar symptoms related to nerve issues - I would recommend a good neuro-muscular doc.

It is sciatic nerve. Not likely damage though. You have to stretch the nerve not the muscle. Different kind of stretching exercises. I use them when I know I plan to play a long time and if it is acting up. Ask your PT friend about them. They are very helpful. Running up is what got mine aggravated. I mostly stick to standing still and driving.
