Usually I'll play 2 or 3 rounds once I get out to the course. I like to play every day but I've noticed my game improves if I take a day off every second or third day. Anyone else out there observe this or is this just another age issue?

Nah,I'm sure age has not a thing to do with it,you're not even old! When I take a two or even four day break I always notice some sort of significant improvement whether it be putting, driving,or approaching. Taking a good break can be a very useful tool. Just to clear your mind a bit and start fresh. AND when I take breaks like that I'm always super happy about getting out there again.

Breaks help, I play every day and my buddy usually comes with me. He sucks it up big time and says he needs a break. I listen and take a day or two off. After substantial begging he comes out again with me, I play much better. He sucks even more and then I have to wait even longer to play again!!

I've never had a chance to play too much. My problem is not enough time to play.

breaks are def a good thing, i like to go in three day cycles, play three days then one maybe two off then back on for three, it just gives your arm some rest, and the mental side of it can use a break too. i find if i play seven days in a row or something like that, i'm more prone to make mental mistakes, and then try to fix those with physical actions and that doesn't usually pan out.

Is there really such a thing as playing too much DG? My wife doesn't get a say in this. :D

Man,at first I think I could never EVER play too much disc. But sometimes it's best to study the game when you don't have the option of actually playing it. When I'm not playing,I find that I'm watching the pros online or dvds. I suggest picking up the pro tour dvds, they're alot of fun to watch and I'm constantly learning from them.Sometimes I search for the discraft(or discrap, depending on your perspective) "pro clinic" on youtube. Those help me out and keep me occupied. :D

I definitely get burned out playing too much. Sometimes after playing a lot (every day) I start getting sick of my crappy play or a really bad score & the next day I will go ride my dirt bike. I have been riding for over 25 years & it is so different than DG that it's a good break. I can take out my aggressions on the track & the other riders.
Sometimes when I'm out on the DG course & somebody is kicking my a$$ I think to myself ...... I bet I could kick your a$$ on a dirt bike!" And my confidence goes back up!

Me, too. When I can't get to the course, I'm in the yard with the practice basket. I have noticed that taking a (forced) break seems to add something when I finally get back out. Oh, I know what it is...happiness. :D

I have found that watching a particularly challenging hole for an afternoon is very beneficial. This offers a break, and also a chance to watch how other approach a hole that gives you a hard time. You also have the chance to meet lots of people (as long as your not stalker-like), and discuss the hole and the game in general. Bring a lunch, leave your discs at home so you aren't tempted...

I only get to play on the weekends, but I do hit the practice field about twice a week to work on my game. For those of you that think you are not that great of players, hit the practice field more than the course and try diffrent things out at the field. Your game will improve because you will be more confident at the field.

My solution to that was to become a "damn" yankee. Moved down here 30 years ago and stayed.

there is no such thing as playing too much, just not enough. i usually will play on monday, thursday and saturday, anywhere from 18 holes to 36. it all depends on how fast it gets dark.
