Does anybody on this site LIVE in North Hollywood, CA? There is a wonderful park there that has ample room for an 18 hole course. My boredom has led me to take the basic steps to rouse any interest in the community to get a course going there.
I do not live in the community so therefore, I don't believe I would have much sway for the local city council. I was wondering if there is anybody else in the area that would like to help with this fun little project. Please respond here or PM me. Anybody that has any knowledge in making this happen can chime in too. I have read lots of the info provided here, and know the basics, but any local advice would certainly help. Thanks!

I've got a couple of friends who live in Van Nuys, and I've practiced in the park that roughly parallels Lankershim (don't know the name). That place would be great for DG but it's also heavily used for soccer, picnicking, dog-walking, jogging, and other trivial stuff.

The park I am talking about is the one along Magnolia at Tujunga. South side of Magnolia. Have played there all the time. I know they are currently discouraging soccer and have even planted a bunch of trees in the middle of the 'fields' they were using.
I also know that North Hollywood is applying for a park improvement grant to be valued between $100,000 and $5,000,000. The only way to typically have pull at city council meetings for local parks is to live in the immediate area. Their first intent is to satisfy the immediate locals. The second priority would be to pull in others to promote the area and businesses.

^I used to mess around in that park as a teen. It's seperated by Magnolia between Chandler and Riverside. It is a big park... lot's of trees... and a good area that skirts the freeway that's out of the way of other park use. Lots of bums though. And, not so nice of a neighborhood (lots of gang activity... at least in the 90's).
OH... and it's a City of LA Park. I used to be an employee for LA City Dept. of Rec and Parks and they don't do DG. The county of LA Parks does... but not the city.
Other good properties to consider would be Balboa Lake and Woodley Park in Sherman Oaks... but, those are LA City properties too.
Good Luck! The Valley - and LA - need more DG.
