They're heeeeerre :) The green ones are a bit on the bright side but otherwise I feel they turned out quite nicely. This is just my way of saying thanks to all the people that have contributed to the site by writing quality reviews that have been recognized by the other members on DGCR.

So here's the deal. To get one of these, you must be a trusted reviewer and then you will get one corresponding to whatever level you're currently at. There seemed to be some interest in having me sign them so I'll throw that out there for those that would like me to do that.

To get one of these, PM or email me the following info:

Name & Address
Current Trusted Level
Signed or non-signed

That's all there is to it.

Crap! I think that I only have 12 votes on my reviews. That's what I get for living in the middle of nowhere.

do you still have 'regular' minis for us pee-ons?
I do.. :) Although I wouldn't consider non-trusted reviewers to be peons. A lot of people upload photos, fix course info, add maps, etc. which I and everyone else definitely appreciate. I would love to send out free stuff to everyone that contributes if I could but the site isn't exactly what one might call a money maker which means I pay for all this stuff myself.

So.. I'm guessing a link might be helpful at this point:

I was just kidding. I do a lot of what you talked about (upload photos, info etc) but I wasn't looking for a freebie. I'll pay my dues & accept one if I earn it. Just having them available is a cool gesture by DGCR.

It reminds me of one place I worked at the employees all got company shirts. But some 'upper crusters' got a little better shirt. You should have heard the crap that got started off of that one. Hilarious. It's only a shirt!

Got my Gold TR mini signed by The Man! Thanks so much Tim; that's a very thoughtful gesture! It's ultra sweet!! I won't be using it, though. It's too valuable, so it's staying home in the collection. I can't wait to use the Silver one out on the course, though.

Just hit silver, and figured it was finally time to request a TR mini. Is it possible to get the bronze at the same time to use it on the course? Silver will be staying pristine until I get to gold...

Unfortunately, it will probably be a while before I hit gold... not much time these days to write more reviews (at least not to write the in-depth reviews I tend to prefer putting together). Thanks again for this site Tim, it's awesome, and I'm amazed how many ways (and how much time) you find to keep making it better.

So what do I have to do to get my minis?

sorry to parrot someone else here, and i know the next reply after the quoted one gives an answer, but how about putting the actual numbers in your first post Tim, then bolding or underlining those numbers?

i doubt mr. carr will be the last to ask what the required numbers are. i myself only know that bronze is 50.

(i think silver is 150, but you get the point)

is there also a way to get one's TR status to show on the forum as well?

perhaps:

...what the required numbers are. i myself only know that bronze is 50. (i think silver is 150, but you get the point)

Tim just recently updated the requirements as follows (quoted from trusted reviewers thread)

Added a new TR level, Diamond. I also updated the requirements a bit which really shouldn't effect any current TRs. The new requirements list is below, the main change being diamond and the change in the number of reviews required for silver/gold.

Bronze: 10 Reviews, 50 Helpful Votes, 10 Unique Voters
Silver: 20 Reviews, 150 Helpful Votes, 30 Unique Voters
Gold: 30 Reviews, 300 Helpful Votes, 60 Unique Voters
Diamond: 50 Reviews, 1000 Helpful Votes, 200 Unique Voters

is there also a way to get one's TR status to show on the forum as well?

Another feature that Tim recently added was for the TR medal to show up in the forum posts for all TRs, so if you are a TR, the medal will display by your user name each time you post.

Hope this helps.

Also, if I remember correctly, the thumbs down cannot exceed 45% of your thumbs up. If you have 100 thumbs but 46 thumbs down you still do not qualify. It would have to be 45 or less.

I need to hit up some of those courses with 20 votes on each review!!!! if I want to be the first to reach that coveted status!

I think you can do it, you're on a roll! You're two-thirds of the way to 100 courses with 5 months still left in the year.

Let me know if you're going to be in my area or within an hour and a half of here.

AdamH I have no idea how good or bad I was when I played with you but I have been playing steadily since I got hooked. I won the am division (of tuesday night league (Dretzka) at the local course over a ten week period and moved up in divisions. I have placed well in some of the big events in the area in the rec divisions and have my rating up to 846 from like 798 or something like that after the first rating. I hope to get up to 875 or so by the end of the year I just dont know if I will be playing any more events by the end of the year.

Thanks man. I can't wait for the worlds at Crown Point, IN next year, but I bet they're about as close to me as they are to you in Madison. It's almost a 4 hour drive for me, but it will be worth it. I'm glad to hear you're game is improving so quickly. Courses don't close in the winter here like they do in Wisconsin so we can play anywhere you want when you come down. I might be in Milwaukee around Thanksgiving, I'll let you know as that gets closer.

I believe if you aren't getting any negatives, then you are probably "sugar-coating" your reviews. You're going to pick up some negatives just by writing truthful, honest reviews. Face the facts, there are a quite a few courses out there with flaws. Anytime you point out those flaws, you're going to upset the locals or the designer(s) or someone. And when I'm planning a trip, I want to know as much about a course as possible, including it's flaws and blemishes.

Of course, we have all received some of those negative votes and wondered, how could someone possibly give me a neg on that review? Like when you enjoyed the course and thought you wrote a very positive review.

I finally got my 200th thumbs up today! I'm still a long way from gold, but it's a milestone. Seems like the votes have been really slowing down recently. There are more and more reviews going up, so new reviews don't spend as much time on the front page. It also seems that a lot of newer people to the site don't really vote on reviews. The thumbs will come, just keep playing and reviewing.

Seems like the votes have been really slowing down recently. I've reviewed 15 courses over the last 4 months and only got 27 thumbs up from them. I guess I need to keep plugging away and review more courses.I've written five reviews this year and gotten a whole 18 votes on them combined. I'm not even averaging 4 votes a review for the year. I really don't have any statistics to compare that to, but it seems to me the voting has been a lot slower this year. Usually in the past there would be one or two reviews that got no traffic, but this year it seems like it is all of them. Of course five reviews is not a huge sample, so I've been figuring I'm just a statistical anomaly.

In the end it’s no big deal. I have gotten plenty of positive reinforcement in the past and I really have not changed my reviewing style, so I’m just going to keep doing what I do. I got some thumbs down on a review that I knew would get some thumbs down when I wrote it, but the truth hurts and the course is a joke. Up until I wrote it I’d never had more than one thumbs down on a review, so I had to decide if that was all that important to me before I posted it because I knew that was going down the drain. I had a ratio of something like 212:8 at that point. I just looked and it’s 217:13 right now, so the new reviews are not doing so hot. Oh, well. I’ll stand by what I said.

Truthfully, it bothers me that I have a review with more thumbs down than thumbs up. I try not to let it, but it does. I’ve read it a few times trying to figure out if I did something wrong, but I think the review covers what I thought of the course. If that is the punishment for saying what I thought, so be it.

since may i have 34 up and 2 down on 8 courses. not very good considering i reviewed 10 courses from november to march and have 111 up and 11 down. recently i reviewed a course that is up and coming and dealt with the same HBB that seem to have struck you. i have a great review that i wrote but only gave the course a 3 because not all the holes have baskets, no tee signs, etc and i have 2 down and no up. i know that speaking the truth comes at a cost, but it still sucks.

I think back when the site was less populated and you could go a whole day with the front page dashboard of reviews not rolling over people just didn't have as many reviews to read. But now it seems like that dashboard rolls over at least two or three times a day.

Good point, I think that's a big part of it. It also seems like newer reviewers aren't voting on the reviews they read. I try to go give thumbs on any courses I've played or that sound interesting when they show up on the front page, and I vote on the other reviews whenever I go look at courses to play or review a course I just played, and I think a lot of people don't do that.

I got your latest silver mini in the mail today, thanks! Now I have a bronze and a silver hanging on the wall. Anyways, I love playing more courses and thinking critically about them, and spending a few reflective moments to help other players decide where to go play, whether to make the trip, etc.. Plus, the reviews have been incredibly useful for me when I'm on the road, so there is a lot of give and take involved.

Doing a review of the big/famous courses in a given area gets the most up/down votes, which isn't always fair in terms of vote numbers. Most of my reviews have 1 or just a few votes because they are small courses. Some others have dozens of votes, even though the review isn't any better or worse as a consequence of being for a small/big course. And like some others said, if you say anything bad about some courses there seem to be trolls ready to jump out and hit the thumbs-down button. Especially if it is a big course that is everyone else's favorite...if you say anything negative, they might attack. But that's the nature of things.

I also don't fixate on the top-rated courses list on the front page. Firstly, I know that there are probably 100 other courses within one or two decimal places of being on that list. Second, I've played some of the courses that stay consistently on the top 10 list, and I know for a fact they're not as good as many others I have played. Plus I'll often see many review ratings for these top 10 are from folks who haven't reviewed in more than one state. Third, there is little to gain by worrying so much about what others think. I'm in it for the fun, and my own personal enjoyment. All I hope is that I can spread my perceptions accurately, and that somebody will benefit from it.

Good thing I got my silver mini recently, I see that I've been demoted back to Bronze!

I had been thinking of trying for Gold, but it now seems like too much extra effort. Like playing a hole at the course where the basket gets further away after every throw.

Do you prmise to keep writing reviews even after you ge to gold status?????? That is the question, the mini is unimportant!

Yes, of course. I was really only joking about that. The minis are cool, but I never wrote reviews for them, or for any kind of status. I write reviews because I have also found this site incredibly useful, and would like to return the favor for other traveling players. That seems like a fair swap. And Tim is kind enough to send us minis for doing so!

Those minis are pretty sweet and I'd love to show one off whenever I play (I would be nervous about losing it though, especially since I have played under the influence to cure my back problems).

I'm going to try and increase my reviews in order to make a run at bronze, and do my best to have informative, helpful reviews (while also being truthful). If I loes some votes for not propping up your local course, than so be it.

Get my Mini Ready Tim, It may take a few weeks, but that should give you time to really think about your autograph!

JK, but I hope to get one soon!

I still have to get my silver mini, I am still holding off because I am trying to save up for a bag tag. (It's hard to save $5 when I keep spending my DG money on shipping for trades and buying new discs :))

I've been playing nearly a year and using this site that whole time but I've waited until now for my first review. You guys inspired me to get going and contribute more to the site. Feel free to throw some thumbs my way.

you can't ask for thumbs. It will get the thread locked.

Congratulations on the Gold Sol. I'm enjoying my bronze! I have my Mini displayed on my shelf. It is a good feeling. I'm just taking my time on getting to silver. I am still 1 review shy and I still need 60 votes, so I'm just enjoying the ride. I need to get out and play a new course, what sucks is I've hit most of the courses that are within my immediate reach. lol

I hear ya! That's how I do it too. I love a good road trip. Especially when I try to cram as many courses into one day as possible. It's painful, but it's an accomplished pain. lol Speaking of Road Trips. I'm overdue for another one!
