Well I made two baskets now and I need some help with making an actual "basket" something to catch the discs.
Here are some pics!!! I have a great foundation and support to make something out of but just no real great ideas on what to do.
I currently have a tire on my old basket but well... that sucks. I want something better!

As you can see.... two tables I took apart and bracketed together. Like I said, the base is strong - I just need something to catch the discs. :wall:

FYI:
The only other thing I plan on doing is cutting off 4-5 inches from the base to make is shorter.

Someone could weld you a basket if you know someone with a torch and a touch of skill. Is tat what you are looking for basket advice? (good lord I typed Cage, I watched that stupid video to many times)

Several asked about my old basket and how I used the bike tires to make the top. Well... these pics might help.

Yeah but what kind of metal should I get to weld it? I got somebody that can, just not sure where or what kind of metal to buy.
Also anything else cheaper, or short term that others have used?

You should probably make it out of Uranium.

Steel is real.

There are a lot of low quality quick fixes, like chicken wire, but a basket of the quality you are making needs a nice catching area. I'll try to think of something easier than individually welding rods for a custom basket.
How about the last post on the page that I attached below? I think that there was a link to a youtube video about making this kind of basket somewhere too. I didn't find it, unfortunately. I think they used some sort of landscaping/watering tube or something like that.

You can do the Lowes whiskey barrel liner. $14 I believe and just the right size.
Only thing is it's plastic and wouldn't really do your basket justice (although it would work fine).

So the only real suggestions is to weld something? Well bummer.

would you be down for wood? i was thinking a malamine base cut to 26" with dowels put up to the correct height and then a small piece around top

If you are good at bending metal and have access to power tools to cut and grind metal and a wire welder, 1/4" steel rod is the way to go. I think the baskets at the course are either 5/16" or 3/8" steel, but 1/4" is strong enough for a practice basket and easier to work with. Look at a basket at the course, get measurements and, cut and bend each individual piece and weld together. It's a little work though. If you decide to do this, buy the metal at a fabrication or metal shop. It will probably be cheaper than Lowe's or Home Depot. The last 1/4" steel rod I bought was $5 for a 12' stick and it will probably take 3-4 sticks.
Or shop around for something suitable or make something out of wood.
Nice start on your basket.
