I added a few more features for you guys. As always, if you notice any bugs or have any suggestions please let me know.

- I changed "Edit Profile/Edit Site Profile" to "Edit My Profiles" in the main menu. It is now consistent through the whole site rather than being different on the forums.

- I added two new fields to player profiles. Years Played and Player Rating. If you'd like to have more fields there just let me know and I can add them. Maybe just a general "Notes" type field where you can share your random thoughts or something?

- There is now a "View Profile" tab in the upper right corner of the Edit Profile page so you can quickly see what your profile looks like to others.

- I made it so people that aren't logged in can view the DGCR profiles.

- I changed the layout of the Edit Profile page to a new tabbed interface.

- If you view yours (or anybody else's) profile, you will see a new "Map View" tab along with the new "List View" which is the default view. Clicking on the Map View will display a map with all of that person's played/favorite courses. Favorite courses are blue and played courses are orange. It's pretty cool to see how geographically diverse a player's experience is or just to get a visual of all the courses you've played.

I think that about covers it for this round of additions. Hope everyone has a great new year! :)

Wow! Those are great changes. Thanks.

Hey, would it be possible to add a "Wish list" (or whatever you want to call it) feature? It would seem that the page with Map and Course Played would be a good place for this. As I read reviews I often think, "Cool course. I'd love to play it some day. I need to make a note of that somewhere." It would be great to be able to track that list. It would also be one more way for others to assess what the good courses are.

That idea was actually on my "to do" list so it'll be on here soon.

The new PDGA Player Ratings were released yesterday. Is there a way this site can automatically update the Player Rating in your Player Profile from the PDGA website?

E.g. If you have a PDGA Member number defined, and the PDGA Membership is current, and the PDGA Member page has a Player Rating listed, then update the DGCR Profile.

Can you pull the "Current Rating" from this page?
http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=34690&year=2008

Maybe the update could run in the middle of the night. Running nightly would be overkill for something gets updated five times a year, so maybe you can pull the date to run from the PDGA Home Page (http://www.pdga.com/index.php) where they list: "Next Ratings Update M/D/Y".

It's possible.. not sure how resource intensive it would be to parse all those pages for each person that has entered a PDGA # though. The PDGA is also supposed to be revamping/updating their site so if I did decide to do it I'd probably want to wait on it in case they decide on a new page format/url.

Well, I messed around with it and already got it working although I haven't implemented it. Since the site pretty much downloads each profile page and then parses the info, I'd imagine it could be pretty resource intensive if a lot of people decide to share their PDGA #'s on here in addition to being pretty slow. It might be a bit too much for something that members could update themselves every 3-4 months plus I'm not sure how the PDGA folks would feel about hundreds of almost simultaneous requests flooding in from DGCR every time the ratings were updated.

Per ERic's suggestion, I've implemented some auto-updating of player ratings. Here's how it will work.

New PDGA #'s will instantly grab the rating (if available). This is mostly for new members that are filling out their profiles for the first time. For everyone else, the site will check to see if your rating on DGCR has been updated in the last 45 days on each dashboard visit. If it has been longer than 45 days since the last PDGA "sync" then it'll go grab your rating and update it here on the site. The only thing you'll notice during that update is a slight delay when loading the dashboard.

I've already gone through and updated all the ratings for people that have PDGA #'s filled in so you guys don't really have to do anything :)

To start, GREAT SITE!!!!
1 note and 1 request:
Note: when you add a new bag in the disc organizer section, the bag is added but it jumps you to a broken link.
Request: Can you set up a scorecard feature for the courses. A link to a printable scorecard with pars and legnths. Blanks for 4 names and scores would be great. Just something to think about.
Thanks,
Scott

Some of the courses have scorecards under the "Links/Files" tab.

Hey Scott,

I think the note you mentioned has (hopefully) been resolved, another member clued me in to the bug earlier tonight. As for the scorecard, I've gotten that request a few times so I'll see if I can put something together when I get a chance. I don't think it would be too tough.

Just a note about the PDGA ratings auto-updates. Some people requested to not list their ratings if they enter their PDGA numbers so I've added a little checkbox in your dashboards by the ratings box that will allow you to prevent your rating from showing up while still sharing your PDGA #.

That seems a bit silly since the PDGA website lets anyone easily look up the rating of anyone with an active PDGA number... http://www.pdga.com/members.php

If you don't want people to know your rating, then don't list your PDGA number.

Tim,
Is there a way to highlight the courses I've played and haven't played in the same map? I wonder if it could be done on either the "search map" option or the "map view" on the player profile page. As always, keep up the great work

So you want to see all courses but have some sort of special icon for the ones you've played?

I was thinking to have another option/color to where you could see only the played and not played courses in an area, in my case NC & SC. To see all the courses in my area, I have to use the "search map" option on the main page, then to see the ones I've played I have to go to the "map view" on my profile. If all else fails, I could just list all the unplayed courses in my area as wish listed, which would highlight them in a different color.

Ah.. gotcha. Well I wouldn't want to put that in your profile map. Doing played/unplayed in different colors on the search map would be a pretty significant amount of work. I could possibly hide the courses you've played on the search map but you're looking to see both so that would be kind of pointless.

FYI, I disabled the PDGA rating auto-update in profiles. It was slowing people's dashboard access to a crawl due to the PDGA site being unreachable and/or incredibly slow. It'll be a field you have to update manually for the time being.

Ahhh that's why it sucked.

Wow that site is a steamy log.
