Figured this would be the best place to ask this question. After playing in your first tourney, what are the points that you get for? I got my place in the division, waiting on my rating, but what are the points? What do they mean? I can't find it on the PDGA website, probably just not looking in the right place but I don't know..

The points allow you to qualify for the yearly PDGA World's tournament. You can view the qualification criteria for last year's event here: http://www.2008discgolfworlds.com/players

To add...points were the pre-rating PDGA gold. Guys used to talk about how many points they had, and having more points gave you a certain status. All it meant in a lot of cases was that you played in a lot of events, but lacking any other statistic it seemed to mean a lot to folks.

When ratings kicked in, a lot of time and effort was spent in telling us why ratings were great and points were stupid. You don't hear much about them anymore except to qualify for Worlds (which doesn't mean that much for AM's since AM Worlds never fills off invites and you can always get in if you watch the timing) or if you happen to know someone who is trying to win a touring points obelisk.

I saw that the most points and the most events attended would get an invite, but other than that nothing. ok. Was that explained somewhere on the PDGA site? I never found it in the rules or searching the site.

I don't know, but when I looked up the points leaders on PDGA.com Ken Climo wasn't on the list. I thought that was odd, so I did a search. Here is the message I got:

"0 players with a last name matching 'Climo'"

But if you go to an event result that he played in, you can click on his name and get this:

Which would have him 8th in points.
