We were just in Phoenix a week or two ago and I was wondering if anyone else lives there or has played there. Here are the courses we played.

Mouer/Papago Park We played this one on our first day, and I was amzed by the first nine. Very chllenging and a nice change of landscape from Wisconsin. The back nine is a complete mess for visitors :wall: No signs, and no teepads. For as good as the first nine was, the back nine was terrible.

Thunderbird-Paseo Played here on the second day. Only ones in the park. My brother and dad managed to throw discs into the 8 foot stream and it was running quite fast. Never got those back. I thought it was a poor course.Good Signs, but just not fun.

Vista del Camino Played here on the fourth day. Since we lost a few on the day before, we went to Spinners on the Green to buy some drivers. Great store, we dont have anything like it in Wisconsin. Then we played Vista which I was very impressed with. It didnt look like too much on the review here, but it was awesome. Well manicured in a very lively park. A lot of pedestrians, but they didn't seem to get in our way. Also loved the water shots. Great course.

Fountain Hills On our fifth and final day we made the hike out here to see about all the hype. Knowing the Pdga had been there a week before we were expecting a lot. And it delivered. Well manicured with great water shots. I love the fountain too. Although too many pedestrians walking all over the course.

I should probably just review these, but for now, what do you think?

I have lived here for 9 months and have played multiple rounds on all of these courses. I definately prefer heavily wooded, tight technical courses so keep that in mind. A quick rundown, from my opinion. Mouer park is a little rough, front nine with hidden baskets, little creek that comes into play. Back nine difficult to navigate. Average. Thunderbird-Paseo is lacking technical shots. Bring your big arm, lots of longer holes, just let them rip. Rather boring. Vista del Camino is definately favored by the locals, looking for water, come here. Heavily used by other park users. Green grass. Not too technical here. Fountain Hills is a little outside of Phoenix, but might be worth it for you. Awesome veiws, a decent mix of shots and water all around. A unique course. Buffalo Ridge is also a unique experience, a true desert course. Plays on the side of a mountain. Of the four you listed, I would rank them as Fountain Hills, Moeur, Vista and then Thunderbird. Enjoy your time here.

Yeah I would have to agree with you. We went two weeks ago. And I would rank them...Fountain Hills-Vista-Mouer-Thunderbird

I played Vista and Fountain along with Buffalo something or another when I did a road trip through Phoenix. Good courses. PDGA was at both Vista and Fountain, but both I believe were in longer configurations. At least Vista is.

You really cannot go wrong heading up to Flagstaff either. Played Thorpe Park and that was a very pleasant surprise.

I lived in Tempe and loved playing Vista del Camino. Not the most challenging, but the water can really influence your lines. Such a clean and well manicured park too. One of the few courses you can play barefoot. I like hole one, throwing over a pond on your first shot. Good memories.

I was there a couple weeks ago, we played Vista Del Camino and stopped at Spinners. According to the gentleman at Spinners (I think his name was Keith Murray) some of the Flagstaff (Mcpherson and Snowbowl) courses were not in the ground yet and may not be until mid-may. This info could be wrong though.

We played Vista Del Camino when we were there. Beautiful course and I really enjoyed the round we played here. We hit Spinners before our round and had lunch at Duke's afterward. Made for a great afternoon. I wish we had something like Spinner's near my home. Then again its probably a good thing. I already have more plastic than I can throw there is no need to throw further temptations into the mix.

Im a big fan of Buffalo Ridge DGC. Its got a nice desert feel to it, plays some really cool elevation shots, and just isn't too busy. Flagstaff is the way to go though when you're talking arizona Disc Golf. Thorpe is an incredible course, and I've heard nothing but great things about Snowbowl. Then you always have McPherson and the NAU course on top of that.
June 5-6 the Treebash Open A-tier is going on and playing Thorpe, McPherson, and Snowbowl. At least they did last year.

Soon hopefully we'll have a course comparable to Buffalo Ridge, with a few really unique shots here in Lake Havasu City. I've designed the first nine , but need help on the back 9 and more eyes on what Ive done so far

Due to the amount of snow still on the ground, it is unlikely that Snowbowl will be played for Treebash this year. The TD said he may move it to the new NAU course.
