I need a list of 10 innova and 10 discraft discs that my local party store can stock to complement our local course. Suggestions. . . .

There are a few "essential" discs that in my opinion make a store credible as a disc golf shop. After that I'd go with beginner-friendly discs.
Innova essentials:
Aviar
Roc
Leopard
Teebird
Valkyrie
Discraft essentials (highlighted as most popular on their flight chart)
Magnet
Buzzz
Impact
XL
Surge
Innova popular and beginner-friendly discs:
Sidewinder
Beast
Mako
Stingray
Shark
Discraft popular and beginner-friendly discs:
Banger GT
Comet
Cyclone
Avenger SS
Wasp
Edit: Wow, 10 discs apiece leaves a lot out. I left out a huge pile of great high speed drivers. :\

Don't I know it. This place is a little cupboard, but the owner is interested and it is right on the way to the course. Hopefully he will want to expand the selection, but I wanted to start with 20.

You forgot to add the Boss to beginner friendly...:D Ha ha. With as many new players as you see out there throwing the Boss, Nuke, Wraith, Xcal, etc you would think that someone advised them to buy that first.

Part of what you decide to stock should reflect the playing ability of the people that frequent the course.... if it is a more open, beginner friendly course, might be better to stock some more noob-appropriate plastic, especially 150 class!!! kids and new players can throw the light stuff so much better, it encourages them to want to play more. but if the course is more difficult and caters to more seasoned players, then maybe stock more of the modern high-tech drivers.
either way, make sure you put up some signage at the course to make sure that people know your store has plastic. and since you have been playing for a while, maybe offer a beginner's clinic or something to get people started right. if there arent any other retailers near the course, you might be able to get a good market share in your area and get some new players into the game.

Hard to find fault with this list. Great place to start. Folks at every level can use these discs. I would however leave off the Wasp and Mako and in their place insert a Meteor & Coyote.

yea leppard probably has a point. although it would be nice to have both discraft and innova, I would imagine that it's cheaper to stock plastic from one company. You should do some research and see how many other retailers are nearby and what they carry. I would imagine being in Michigan that there is plenty of discraft all over the place.

You could always start out with Innova then add Discraft (and eventually other brands) later once things take off. Same thing with adding new molds.

I wish Discraft had been more readily available locally when I started playing 15 years ago. I got hooked on Innova back then and even now only throw a couple of Discraft molds. But I would go 50/50 if possible, just avoid any overlap in flight characteristics.

Not here it isn't. We have MC Sports and Dunham's. Innova only. I don't throw much Discraft, but I'm considering suggesting to the guy that he only stock Discraft to give him an angle...

Without taking financial circumstances into consideration, I think you should treat a store like a personal bag. Stocking all one company just limits your options, while having multiple brands and plastics expands your field of potential buyers IMO, just like a mixed bag expands your choice of shots. I don't see a positive to limiting yourself to one company aside from financial reasons.
Additionally, as some have mentioned since Innova is usually stocked in most places that sell discs, people who are comfortable with only Innova may not want to venture into your store if it is only Discraft. If they come for the Innova discs they may be curious about the Discraft discs.

The first decision I made about this was to have a 150g section.

Looks like I don't need to push Discraft for an "angle"....
From Innova's site:
To be a dealer..... you must fall under one of the following Disc Golf enhancing categories:
Retail Sporting Goods, Recreational or Hobby Store
Retail Department Store with a sporting department
Governmental Agency such as a Park and Recreation Department
Church
School
Recognized Disc Golf Promoter- These are individuals who actively
promote the sport of Disc Golf through solicitation of their local parks department, organizing disc golf events, working as a PDGA Course Pro and other related volunteer efforts.
His store doesn't really fall into any of these categories . . . unless you consider boozin' and eating Cheetos a hobby!

Innova won't consider him a dealer, they'll consider him a pusher and make sure a box falls off the truck in front of his work, if you know what I mean.

Innova:
Boss (one of the most popular drivers)
Roc (obvious)
Aviar (#1 selling disc of all time i believe)
Teebird (very popular fairway)
Eagle ( good workable fairway, pretty popular)
Mako (still kinda hot and new)
Wraith (very popular distance driver)
Leopard (awesome stable/understable fairway)
Katana (still hot!)
Rhyno (pretty popular putter in some circles)
Discraft:
Surge (a popular discraft distance driver)
Buzzz (obvious)
Comet (awesome disc)
Stalker (good controllable fairway/mid hybrid)
Cyclone (popular workable fairway)
Focus (Wizards cometitor)
Magnet (popular putter)
XL (very popular DC fairway)
Flick (popular among forehand/overhand throwers)
Predator (popular overstable disc)
Just trying to break mine down a little.

I just had a meeting with the owner. In addition to his grocery, he sells fishing liscences, bait and tackle, and is a licensed firearm dealer (I love Northern Michigan living :)) so perhaps Innova will consider him a sporting goods retailer.
But that is for a later time, as he was very keen on stocking product from a Michigan-based company, and wants to start with Discraft only. The custom stamps I showed him also caught his eye, as he saw that he could get his business name flying around. :D
So the next step is contacting Discraft and getting more details. It looks like I will be doing a large amount of work on his behalf, as he is completely new to this sport. Not that I mind doing so, but if there are any of you on this forum that have some experience dealing with Discraft directly, I would love some input, either in this thread or as a PM to me.
Oh, yeah....GO WINGS!!!!! Love the stomp they put on the Coyotes, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
