How many different ways have you seen baskets presented on the course, and which are not legal according to the PDGA?

What do you consider not legal? The PDGA does't have basket installation requirements, just guidelines or recommendations.

I've seen a hole in the ground. Literally a basket installed so that the upper edge of the cage is flush with the ground, and the chains up to about knee high. It makes putting pretty weird. :)

Somewhere I have seen a diagram that showed several basket presentations, with one basket being a legal presentation and then another presented in almost the same manner but it said was not. I remember one was a mound hole, in one view the mound went up steeply and there was no place to stand to get your disc, the other showed a mound and it had a broad top so that the player could stand on the top of the mound reach in and retrieve their disc. According to the diagram the mound with the broad top was the legal one. It also showed a below grade basket presentation I believe one had steep slopes again and the other had vertical sides. Has anybody else seen such a diagram?

I kind of like how there are loosely defined rules of the basket installation. It allows for variances in course design.

ever played on suspended baskets? I was wondering how many cables to use, 1 or 2 so it does not sway as much.

I've played a few different baskets. All came at the Hippodrome in North Augusta, SC. Hole 3 was in the ground, hole 11 and 14 were suspended. 11 hung by two wires like a hammock. 14 was held by a hangman's noose. Another, hole 7, was atop 8 feet of oil drum barrels. It's quite an interesting setup, and it definitely takes getting used to. Check out the pictures on this site for information on them.
