The new Lower Cato Falls DGC is scheduled to open on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Here's a slideshow of the pre-installation layout (http://www.photoshow.com/watch/hW7HU3wu), and the course's website (http://discoverwisc.com/manitowoc/catofalls/) has more info for anyone interested.

This looks to be a relatively open course, much like the Indian Creek course (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2723) that was recently installed in the area in 2007 (and has received less-than-stellar reviews), with a few wooded holes and some gentle elevation changes. I haven't actually been to the property, though; I'm just going on my observation of the course map (http://discoverwisc.com/manitowoc/catofalls/images/cato_falls.pdf) and the above slideshow link. Sadly, it looks as though the falls from which the park gets its name will not be in play on any of the holes, which is probably more due to the fact that the county wouldn't allow it more than poor design implementation.

Thank you to all volunteers, sponsors, and the Manitowoc DG scene for making this happen!

Jim has such a good course to live up to; in Silver Creek, Manitowac, Wis., that it makes it tough to come close to that ideal. From the little movie, it does look much like Indian Creek.
Pablo is cool...:)

Whoa...gold medal now, eh Paul? Congrats!

But yeah, I agree about it being hard to "meet or beat" Silver Creek. It looks like they'll be planting some trees at Lower Cato Falls, so hopefully that'll add a little something. It'll just be nice to have another option when Silver Creek is overrun by d-bags on the weekends...

Recent local news article about students helping with course installation (http://www.htrnews.com/article/20100510/MAN0101/5100390/1357/MAN01).

Excellent project that Jim got these students hooked up with, he's such a good guy. A course, here in Appleton, at Pierce Park, was put together by a 4th grade class. They had the initial idea; contacted the basket manufacturer, did a logo for a disc hot stamp, etc. Great way to get students involved and adds an interest for parks departments as well.
