The tags are finally going to happen! This first tag is a personal tag that will have your real name (or DGCR username) and your DGCR # on it. Please see this thread (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1554) for more info.

These tags will measure approx. 4.25"x2.5". They will have the logo below:

and beneath that will be your name and number. The tags will look similar to the tags I linked in the thread above except rather than being round they will follow the contour of the DGCR logo.

These are going to be top quality tags and as a result they're a little more expensive than usual. I am selling them for $20 a piece (that price includes shipping). $20 is a small price to pay for a tag that will last you years and you'll be the envy of everyone on the course. There's also the priceless warm, fuzzy feeling of helping out the site :)

You can use Paypal in the DGCR Store (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/store/) to pre-order your tag today. I will let the pre-orders go for a week or two so everyone that would like a tag has a chance to order one. As the deadline approaches I should be able to get a sample so I will have pictures of the finished product.

Probably.. but I'm not sure when the travel tags will be in as I have to design the back and I'm waiting to hear back from the place about a few questions I asked. The site said it's like 3 to 4 weeks to get the tags after art work approval. You will have had your personal tag long before then if I order in a week or two.

The shipping would be nominal on the travel tag, just a regular 42 cent stamp and regular envelope. I'll probably charge $4 or $5 total for the travel tag.

Yea, there is the personal tag and then a cheap travel tag for swapping, etc. The personal one will look like the one in the thread I linked (white logo, white name) on a forest green background and gold backing.

The tags won't be white.. that's just the design. The background will be forest green, the design will be etched into the material with a laser and will be end up being white. The back will be gold.

Not sure.. it depends how many other people want to get them and how soon. I can't really do just one or two tags so I'd need to wait until 15-20 people wanted to get one and then go through the process of collecting money/info, etc.

I'm going to let it go for a week or two so everyone that would like one has a chance to get their order in. At the earliest I'll order on the 26th, at the latest, toward the end of that same week. It'll depend on if I'm still getting tag orders at that point or not.

What will probably happen the next time around is I'll post a poll (or someone else can) in say.. a month or two to gauge interest in another set of tags. If enough people respond in the positive, I can put together another pre-order and go from there. If there aren't enough people interested, try again in a month or two.

The silver in the picture is actually a mirror finish. I asked to see a picture of the silver backing if they have it to compare. The tags will definitely be backed by either the mirror or the silver though. I'm not a big fan of the gold.

These aren't the travel tags so no reason to get a new one every other year. They should hopefully last much longer than that. I'll be ordering these in batches once enough people want one. How often that will be I don't know. So getting another one isn't a problem, you just have to wait until I order the next bunch.

They didn't have silver on hand so I'll have to take a look at the mirror and go from there. It would be a metallic silver color which I think might look good but I'd have to order sight unseen. I don't think we could go wrong with either but unless the mirrored one blows me away I'm leaning towards silver.

You could change the green color to white to make it contract with green background or whatever you might have in mind.

Having your DGCR # on there takes care of that though since it will enable anyone to find out what your name on here is if you decide to put your real name on the tag.

By the way, if anyone wants to clarify capitalization on there names that they may not have included in the note when they ordered please PM me. Otherwise the tags will be printed with the exact capitalization you specified in the original note. For example, if your username is johnsmith and your email to me said to put johnsmith on the tag but you'd really like JohnSmith now is a good time to send me that info.

Got the samples today. The ones in the picture are gold and mirror. I have decided to get silver and the green part will have the white beveled edge like you see on the gold version below.

What sort of chain/strap does it come with?

The hole looks like it probably only supports those beaded silver chains? Will those be sufficient to handle the beefy DGCR tags? People paying $20 for these aren't going to be happy if they fall off their bags.

The green isn't quite as dark as in the photo. I used to have the Pantone number for it but it looks like I deleted the email with that info. The hole is about 1/8" in diameter. Those beaded chains were my plan and I will see if the place can provide them, otherwise I will go to Home Depot and buy some to cut up. The tags look heavier than they are and I think the beaded chain would keep it secure without a problem.

I could make the hole a little bigger, maybe 3/16" so you'd be able to get a more substantial thing through the hole if that's something people might want to do.

FYI, I'll most likely be ordering these tomorrow. The backing material will be silver in color and I am going to bump the site of the hole up to 3/16". I could go as big as 1/4" but the hole would go over most of the eraser in the basket logo.

As far as what will be used to attach, it looks like I'll have to provide that so I'll be making a trip to Home Depot at some point to investigate.

Actually, I just cut out some paper circles and 1/4" doesn't look bad so I think that's the way I'll go. That will open up many more options to attach these to your bags if you don't like what I come up with.

People that didn't get travel tags went out Monday, people that did went out on Tuesday. The only reason it worked that way is that I didn't get the travel tags until Tuesday after work.

It doesn't look good for I could not get a hold of them but am planning on showing up anyway to see if I can get in a round. I think they sold the place but can't imagine them taking out all those cement tee pads, baskets, and solar lights. I am going to keep my fingers crossed. I'm really sorry it broke like that :( I figured the padded envelope would have been enough to keep it safe since it is made of pretty tough plastic. If I make some more remind me about your tag and I will eat some of the cost if you'd like to get another tag.

One question though. Is the attaching string for the travel tag and the chain for the personal tag tough enough not to worry about breaking or should I put a solid metal ring ( large keyring) on there?

Looks awesome! I didn't do a stress test on the chain so if you'd feel safer putting it on a key ring, I say go for it. That chain was the best thing I could find at a reasonable price and figured if people didn't like it they could find their own means to attach the tag. I might just squeeze the linking part of the chain with some pliers to close up the cracks.

The plastic thing for the travel tag won't be breaking any time soon though. It seemed pretty tough to me.
