I thought I saw another thread like this a while ago (maybe by billnchristy?), but I couldn't find it so I figured I'd start my own (I searched prerube, really, I did).

A couple of courses that I've played had graffiti on signs and baskets when people aced those respective holes. Needless to say, but that kind of vandalism just makes the signs and baskets look like crap over time.

When I played Golden Hills DGC (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=162) in Blacksburg, VA this weekend, I noticed that each tee sign had a large white area on each sign post where players could ink their aces and I thought that was pretty awesome. It keeps the signs and baskets clean and gives people the chance to take credit for their awesome throws. I wish more courses had something like this.

That's a really good idea. I agree it looks like ****, but I would also like to be recognized for my aces, so that is the perfect solution.

Another wonderful idea would be to put baseball bats hanging from chains at each tee sign. The vandals could use the bats to beat the signs and would not have to bring their own.

Zoinks. Sounds like a "glass is half-empty" day for sidewinding.

Congratufrigginlations, can we stop sh*tting all over the signs and baskets now?

Exactly, sign your dis and keep throwing it. Or just wear it on your head, its more noticable that way

I wish more people would consider something like the following if they want their aces recognized...

http://www.mhdgc.org/aces
http://www.tulsadiscsports.org/aceclub2009.html

I mean face it, that will be there long after the elements have washed away your shrine at the park (well, as long as the website stays up).

Wowzers. I'm sure it looks really sharp, but those name plates aren't cheap. Not for nothing, but I'd just as soon scribble my info on a white patch with a sharpie for free.

If I'm out on a course I don't really care if someone else got an ace on the hole I'm playing...
Maybe that's just me.
Sign your disc, have others sign your disc, and move on with life.

Cool idea...but just as signing in the first place...
People walking through (vandals...*******s...etc) don't know what its for...and will write whatever. Just because its space for an "ace" signing, doesnt mean it wont say "KMK 420...high stonerz...faack" eventually.

Seriously...its just a bad idea :/

I think too many of you guys are just talking about vandalism in general on non-designated areas.

Ace signs, designated by the course, would definitely help put a stop to graffiti due to Aces.

I hate saying it, but you have to accept certain people are going to sign for aces. Unless you can watch them 24/7, or clean up after every single one, put up a sign.

I don't really care about other people's aces, and I'm not a fan of people signing the basket and tee signs. That said, if giving those people a board to sign keeps all of that crap in one place instead of on every permanent structure on the course, I'm for it.

What really looks dumb is the short holes where the tee signs is covered with names from aces. That looks like crap.

The local club put 18 new tone poles out this spring. Nice aluminum, bright blue, easy to see. Yesterday, a guy in the group in front of us hit an ace and vomited an ugly sharpie mess all over one side. I am disappointed, but not that surprised.

at a particular course here after every "ace sig" some idiot wrote "is GAY"... how about we just save our disc or replay the memory in our head whenever we come back to that hole and throw a five?

I carry some "goo gone" in my bag, if I see someone in front of me signing the basket I'll clean it off right after he/she is done! I've done that 3/4 times. If you have the need for everyone to know you hit an ace sign your disc and put it away or keep playing with it. If you JUST gotta sign the discatchers sign INSIDE the "Chasity Belt"!
