View Full Version : Lincoln Ridge is still great. LaMirada fans read!

Played Lincoln Ridge in Independence, KY for a second time yesterday. Though a couple of design flaws turned up (tee pads near baskets on Hole 7, Hole 11 being hard to find after 10), my 5.0 rating remains. Why?

-Downhill bombs on 1, 2, 7, 14 and 22 are the holes I dream about. The only comparison I can think of is Hole 11 at Flip City. Though they are not that difficult and right around 325-350 feet, they have enough wide open space to throw big but also have really rough areas that punish bad drives. A fairly easy course but nowhere near deuce-or-die as suggested.

-Excellent, Idlewild-ish signs.

-Big cement tees

-Tough woods holes (15,16,17) that are completely different from the rest of the course

-Narrow, defined grassy fairways in the woods, like Oshtemo Township Park (10, 13, 19)

-Players with good DG etiquette

This course could be the template for a new, redesigned LaMirada course. The parks are similar (except for the woods holes), and could realize the potential of a new 24 hole course incorporating both the front and back 18 currently at LaMirada.
