View Full Version : A fun game - NOW with prizes

My boy Ben searches like a hungry squirrel to find paper currency with his PDGA number (or those of friends or famous players) contained in the serial number. I extend the invitation to DGCR readers. The challenge is to post a pic of a US Federal Reserve Note (any denonination; I guess I would accept a United States Note or a silver or gold certificate, as well) in frame with your PDGA card, both of which must display the same number. Your PDGA number must be perfectly duplicated somewhere within the serial number of the bill (not in a different order or with intervening digits). If you whine enough (zenbot), I might even accept other extremely convincing proof of your PDGA #.If I accept your evidence as valid, I will send you a delicious prize. Y'all have at it, and happy hunting!

Sorry, Canadian & other foreign currency need not apply.

This sounds like a really fun game. I like the part where you don't know what you would win after bothering to do something this boring.

Vegan Ray
07-01-2010, 09:57 AM
No DGCR #, no ZIP code, no IQ, PDGA # only. Old timers with low #s do, indeed, play at an advantage (a deserved one). The exercise would be trivial for my friend Cap'n Snap (PDGA #60).

Ben found my first one (the 20) after about 3 years of looking & I found the two singles within a couple of weeks of each other after poker games about 18 months ago.

I'll take a pass on your glideless Vibram rubber junk.

I've got no problem with you taking a pass, really. I just wanted to go ahead and address the three adjectives you chose to use.

Glideless - I'd have to say I more or less agree with you on this one. The three discs Vibram has on the market so far are driving putters. IMO, I would rather have a disc slow down fast and give me a consistent distance rather than a glidey mid-range that doesn't know when to stop - especially if there is wind which makes the glidey discs even less predictable.

Vibram - Assuming you are talking about the V.P., the Ridge and the Summit, you nailed it on this adjective. Well done.

Rubber - Again assuming you are talking about Vibram, then yes, you again nailed it on the head. Vibram is the only disc manufacturer using the rubber based X-Link compound. Just like shoe soles and tires, rubber offers a superior combination of grip and durability (imagine trying to climb a mountain with shoe soles made of plastic, yikes!)

Regarding the use of the word junk, one man's junk is another man's treasure. I'd suggest at least giving them a try.

Folks are probably going to wonder if we planned this and you are playing the role of foil. Let me assure everyone, this was not a setup, unlike these durability tests. They were definitely setup. Enjoy.

I still look at a hundred bills at work each day (at a minimum) andhave found several close, with last week having one that was only one digit away. I'm getting antsy.

I missed this thread. So do I go play in a tournament tonight or open my safe and go through the
+$2000 that I have collected? Will Ray give me a ghost pepper?

I'm counting the days til october 1st so i can join and get in on this game,

hopefully the money i use to sign up with doesn't have the numbers i need on it!

also: is it bad that i had to ask myself this,

"i wonder if that disc in solomon.trenton's pic is a real disc or a mini?"

I went home and went through 66 $20's, 58 - $10's, 42 - $5's & 218 - $1's. I didn't even come close to 7382 but I saw 7323 3 times. None of the money in my pocket or the other bills I have in a collection came close. It's not as easy as I thought.

I went to the tournament and someone lost a disc. He said if I found it he would give me a reward. I found the disc and he gave me a fresh ghost pepper from his garden. Who carries those things in their bags? Wo does.

Absolutely not (if that were the case, one carefully-crafted post would probably do it), but I suspect it will happen.

since ray is evicted from dgcr you can reach him at veganray at verizon dot net (his email changed recently)

those 3 digit pdga numbers sure do make the game easier... our friend (who ray got the idea from) has a $100 bill with his 5 digit number on it.
