Has anyone dyed Pro Plastic? I was wondering if it does as good as Star or is it crappie like DX??

I've removed the stamp from a pro plastic valkyrie. It came of clean like champion. I have not dyed it yet.

I had trouble getting dye to stick to a pro pig, but I was trying for pink. Also did some JK Aviars and it came out ok, but didn't look near as good as star. From what I've read, and my experiments, you have to get the dye really hot for pro and dx. Almost to the point of boiling.

To get a pink color I've used magenta dye and checked the disc early and often so it didn't get too dark.

It's kinda crappy, like DX. Not crappie, like the fish ;):p

I have done alot of dyes on Pro plastic, and it seems to take color very well for me. i will admit that it doesn't last near long enough like star or champ. The dye jobs seemed to fade very quickly on pro.

vettecrazy said in another post that in order for dye to stick you have to have it near boiling. same with dx.

be careful with the near boiling when dying a DX disc ... I was fooling around dying an old stingray and it warped in the hot water ... I bent it back flat but needless to say its the most overstable stingray you'll ever see in your life now ;)

I have also had problems with DX. I have tried to dye with the water close to boiling but the contact paper started to peel.

Ok, here's my two cents. Pro Plastic dyes just fine, it does fade quicker then others, I'll post a picture of one I did that turned out just fine. I have also had good results with DX, see the second picture.

I'll continue to defend contact paper, but not all contact papers are built the same. I have used some contact paper that just flat out sucks while others do very well. The kind I use I buy at Target, other places carry it as well, I've seen it at Albertsons. It is called Magic Cover from the Kittrich Corporation, get the clear matte kind, not glossy.

That is exactly what I mean..... I also mean that as a 100% compliment...... Out of all the fantastic dye jobs I've seen on this sight his seems to be the premier dye jobs....
