I like Eagle Ridge as long as it's not muddy, for some reason the mud there seems to get really nasty and sticky. Jericho Lake isn't all that challenging, but it's got some fun ace runs. I'd be up for meeting out that way some time.

Ive never played the longs at either course. Im assuming they make eagle ridge much harder. If this goes down we should warm up at jericho than head to eagle ridge. I havent been out that way in a while and have been meaning to make it out there again.

I like both sets of longs actually. Jericho's longs make it a little less pitch n putt, a few longer holes and a few with trickier lines than the shorts. Most of Oswego's longs are cool and add some good challenge but a few are pretty silly.

Unfortunately, I can not make it down to the meet up on Saturday in Aurora & Oswego. If anyone can pick him up, I'm sure he would greatly appreciate it. I am planning to pick him up on Monday and take him to Streamwood or one of the Joliet area courses. Here ya go...

Hello fellow discheads, My name is Shawn McGee and I am a 40 yr old disabled veteran coming to the Hines VA Central Rehab Blind Center tomorrow 1/12/11 and wanted to know some information on local courses and also if anyone is crazy enough to play in the Windy City this time of year. Hines is located 12 miles west of downtown and from what little research I have did on line I wanted to know about "safe" parks to play accessible by bus or a fellow disc golfer whom may be a tour guide for this area. I am legally blind but still have central vision just very limited peripheral vision and I am an adv id disc golf for going on a year and a half. I have recorded a 235 ft ace and four fairway aces of 150ft or better, furthest was 300 ft wedged in the side of the basket whooo hooo!
I would appreciate any guidance or help while I was in your fine city. I would have evenings and weekends available and also MLK day this coming Monday. If anyone could tell me about where is some good courses I would appreciate it very much. I hope to hook up for a round with some people while in town possibly be there until the end of the month. The two closest parks I have seen most convenient for from Hines are Central Park located in Oak Brook (7.7 miles from Hines) and possibly the course at the Chicago Institute of Technology which is almost the same distance just west of my location.
Once again any and all information would be much appreciated from one fellow disc golfer to another. Thanks alot it will make my time away from home much better to get some disc golf in while in town. I have attatched a picture I am on the right of Dave Feldberg.

I just played yorkville yesterday and the snow wasn't that bad of a factor for me =) but i have the ribbons attached to the disc so that helps too haha. I think we should be good this weekend bc it is only supposed to snow again saturday. the tee pads should be melted off at Jericho and i know for a fact that some of the tee pads i at Eagle Ridge have brooms on them so thatll help =D

oh and kinda a nooby question but whats the golden course? What is the course u guys are talking about? =?

Monday plans are slowly taking shape. We are going to play Channahon first.

Tee time is still TBD. I may have to work a few hours in the morning but if so I should be done around 10-10:30ish. That would put us in Channahon about an hour later b/c I work in the Loop. I'd like to do the regular 9:00 start if possible.

Hopefully we will have time to play a 2nd course...possibly Highland Park? This time of year I prefer concrete pads.

Not bad, I shot like **** but had alot of fun! It was getting pretty windy out there at times and snowing the whole time too.
Good luck with your first tourney! Read up on some rules and make sure to get some minis to mark your lies. Bring some extra clothes incase its bad outside, and remember to have fun. What division did you sign up for?

How old are you? I dont know if id sign up for junior, but do whatever you feel. Its alot more pressure than a normal round so expwct to shoot a little worse your first time out there. When you get some cash you should check out some slower discs. I know this doesnt have to do with the tourney but trying to help you out. Faster discs mask oat and only hurt your game unless you have the arm for them. Youll find alot better accuracy by not using such fast discs also. I dont remember all your discs but drop your boss and wraith for now and pick up some discs like a gazelle, cheetah, leopard or even a teebird to check out. Start pushing this discs on controlled lines till you can push them out over 300. im still working on my form and technique so I dont give the best advice, but just trying to offer what I can too you.

Oh and i do have that sidewinder comming which i can get out there pretty good and straight. I also have a champ beast, the 2 bosses and the 2 wraiths. I did pretty good with the beast when jacob came to yorkville sunday so i'm going to be using that some what. I have a katana that im selling to mark for $15 or so and then maybe i will have some $ to look at other discs. Plus with my report card comming this week and me getting good grades = hopefully some money for discs =D

I could try to come out there soon but I dont know what the chances are. Its a little over an hour drive for me so if I were to come out there id want to make it an all day thing and play some other courses I havent played. Im not a big fan of jericho and eagle ridge is worth the drive, but lemon lake is about the same distance from me,much more fun and ill probably be making my next hour plus trip out there besides flip! Once the weather gets nice, try and make the trip out this way. You really have to check out some other courses, and theres a good amount to offer out this way! And as in not having money for discs. You could always try trading some of your discs for some I mentioned in the marketplace.

Really depends on the event. A lot of events do trophy only for jr divisions, other am divisions tend to get paid out in merch of some sort. Since it's a charity event, the payout will probably be lower than other events.

Not bad but the apache is not great ive had a couple. stingrays a good understable mid and an xl is a decent disc. Never thrown a hawk but I think they r oop. I wouldnt start throwing oop discs till your bags set, it becomes an expensive habit and sometimes they can be hard to find. At least for me lol. Luckily for this site it makes it easier.:hfive:

Pias can be hit or miss. Sometimes they have bogus prices but sometimes you can find cheaper discs there. And sometimes you can find some gems in the used bin. Id look on the marketplace here though or buy online. Its alot cheaper than going to any store imo.
