Built in 2003, Jericho Lake’s 18 holes measure 4,133 yards from the amateur tees and 5,399 yards from the pro tees. Each hole is 100 to 300 yards in length and features a concrete tee pad to launch and hip-high, pole mounted baskets with cages as the disc’s ultimate destination.

Yeah... on second thought there really isn't anything that great other than Grey Fox. The UW Parkside courses are OK, but the northern Illinois ones are nothing special. Lemon Lake has the drop for sure.

U are gonna want to give yourself about 5-7hrs to play both courses at meyer broadway. Definitely have someone play with you to spot, the grass rough is krazy thick,takes a while to find ur disc and those courses are a hike. Its in great shape though. If u switch ur plans to sunday morning im gonna be there with a couple pros.

Winter Park is indeed dog friendly, as long as you take care of the turds mid fairway or in 'landmine' locations. We take our blue heeler all the time, but she waits at the front of the tee for you to drive, charges in at you for a short run, then takes off after your drive (never picks anything up).

And despite the fact that worthless and useless chucker morons smash bottles on occasion, we spend our own precious personal time during leisurely rounds, picking up glass so no dogs, humans, or bike tires are harmed.

Sorry I missed your posts and PM, I was actually out working at my land and then out on the course (I moved pins to primary locations because the 'Winter Park Challenge' had been concquered.).

Rollig Ridge is indeed an excellent venue. Steve and his crew of some dedicated golfers have done a great job creating a players course!

I wouldn't say it qualifies as an Appleton course though Paul, more of a Manitowoc course based on location off I43.

Now, when are we heaidng out to Zobel to break that new monster in????? I have a project in Oshkosh that needs my attention, and I want to shoot over to Green Lake the same afternoon I'm down that way for work.

It's a little rough around the edges but all in all it's quality. If it opened up a little more the NE Wisconsin area would be more of a destination type area for DG'ers that could easily rival the folks in the Ludington area across the pond.:thmbup:

Jason: Hole 14 must've been dried out. There's a pond there in the middle of all those trees/bushes that's about 400 feet out, so it's exactly where your drive would land if you can't throw over 400 consistently - something to think about when throwing the drive.

I didn't particularly enjoy that course when I played it last year. I didn't feel like there was anything exciting about any of the holes. I just threw my drive, made an upshot if necessary, and moved on. Maybe it's because I played Hickory Hills and Flip City before heading down to Shore Acres, followed by Hornet's Nest and Nevin in NC... So it was the dull "filler course" in that lineup.

What were you doing a few years ago when Am3 was the lowest division? Just remember the tourneys that only offer Am1, Am2, and Am3 usually have the novice-level players playing Am3, and the rec players split between Am2 and Am3. People tend to move up sooner in areas that only offer 3 divisions.

I got a couple new courses in today though, we sneaked on to the Q Center course and played the Wheeler Park course out in St. Charles.

Decent, nice mix of long and short holes and some minor elevation changes. There are a handful of holes with really low ceilings so you can't really get an air shot there, otherwise I liked the design. The tees are awful though.

Here is the final product, it has been done for a while I just couldn't find the battery to my camera. I decided against the reflective foil I had originally intended because I noticed that it reflected so well when I would get near the basket it would actually be strong enough to mess with my night vision. Instead I went with Rustoleum (sp) Silver Metallic Paint. All wires are soldered so there is no issue with poor connections and I put a batter clip on it...I may change the orientation later on though.

holy crap that was the biggest rush of my life! part of the group was a and hour and half late so that ended up delaying our jump for just a little over four hours. So i did what any responsible adult would do when waiting to jump out of an airplane, i went to the titty bar and had a few beers lol.

the course is still up in the air. My buddy and I went looking for the course and had np finding baskets, however tee pads proved a bit harder to find. Throw in some random campers in fairways and we decided to just safari it up for a few holes before retiring back to more beer. Overall very successful weekend!

I don't like playing tourneys at Highland because of the baskets. One missed putt can turn into a mental breakdown on your whole game. Great course with great shots but poor, poor baskets...

Ace runs are different than putts. If you hit the sweet spot on a putt and it gets rejected, that's one thing. When an ace doesn't stick, that doesn't mean that you got robbed. It's a lot easier to catch a disc at putting speeds than driving speeds. I've seen quite a few rejections on ace runs where the disc hit dead center. On Discatchers as well as junky baskets.

Aces have a bit of luck to them because you can hit the perfect spot on the basket and still be denied. By the same token, there are lots of fluky aces that aren't necessarily good throws. I had a near ace earlier this year that was on its way to the pond behind the green before a tree-hit sent it on a beeline for the basket.

In closing, I agree that highland needs a basket upgrade. I vote we switch 9 of Highland's baskets with the Titans at SBHS. ;)

for once i am going to have to agree with Jacob here. ER is a fine course and i am by no means taking away from it, but if you want to play a mid to upper teir course as far as difficulty and creative line shaping go with numerous signature holes then highland beats the hell out of it. outside of using West Parks old baskets and what little trash still remains highland park is is one the top ten courses int he state, not sure if i could say that readily about ER

1. Foundations Park DG Complex, Centralia, IL
Wow! This can play as tough/long as any course in IL. Long/Short tees & Long/Short baskets. This is true golf. Possible improvements include cement tees and a bridge or 2 across the creek. I heard several of these have been taken care of since I last played there. Gateway Dave, If you read this how about donating 18 more Gateway Titans to keep 2 sets of pins in at all times ? There is a easier 9-holer in the same park.

2. McNaughton Park, Pekin, IL
AKA "McNasty"
As tough as any course in IL (Long Tees). Short Concrete tees, Long Dirt Tees. Has withstood the test of time. The back 9 is as tough as it gets. Possible improvements include cement long tees. You could argue this is still #1 in Illinois.

3. Highland Park, Joliet, IL
Got my first look at this course this weekend. Rough around the edges but I decided to stick it at #3. Since it's new there is still lots of work to do but i'm impressed! We did not play all the Blue tees but a round of all Blues would rival the difficulty of any course in Illinois. This course has potential to move up the list with cement tees and new baskets. Wide variety. The course has been cleaned up a lot!

4. Wildcat Springs, Hamilton, IL
Awesome place to play. 2 new added holes this year. Awesome terrain and good mix. Possible improvements include another set of tees or alternate pin placements.

5. Lincoln Park, Springfield, IL
Added pin placements since I last played and difficulty level has stepped up several notches. Long/Short cement tees. One of the best maintained courses in IL. This course is going to get tougher when the other course is finished. 3 of the old holes are being used on the other course and replaced with 3 really sweet holes.

6. Rock Springs Park, Alton, IL
Terrain is absolutely awesome with every hole having some type of hill or slope. This course is very challenging with a variety of holes. I want to play this course when it's dry. Possible improvments. Cement tee pads. They installed cement tee pads late this summer. Can't wait to get back! I thought the course design was very solid.

7. Northwoods Park,Morton, IL
Another great place to play golf. Long/Short Tees. 17 & 18 are the best 2 finishing holes in Illinois. Great mix of holes. Possible improvement would be the addition of cement on the long tees.

8. Woodland Park, Collinsville, IL
Wide variety and fun place to play. Long/Short cement tees. Water on many holes. Possible improvment would be course directional arrows. Very hard to navigate if you have never played there.

9. Sinnissippi Park, Sterling, IL
Great course. Front 9 is awesome! Multiple pin positions. Back is long but flat. If the land near the river were allowed to be used (Where the alternate holes for tournies are placed) this course could move up the list quickly.

10. Community Park, Channahon, IL
Frank continues to improve this course every year. Long tees all have cement now. Shorts have had cement for a while. Most of the baskets have been upgraded. The BEST kept course in IL. The landscaping Frank has done is awesome! Each year this course gets a little more difficult. It was not even on the radar of my top 10 2-3 years ago.

lol this is kinda funny to look at at. Brett has played 158/163 courses in Illinois and 247 coures that span 13 states total. i have only played twenty in Il and 46 courses in five states :wall:

Shot for shot (not including baskets), it's about the same as West in terms of holding my interest.. Nothing there is worth driving back for. But if I was driving through and had time to stop, I might throw a round...?
