Since it seems no one uses the groups on this site, I figured I'd post this here. I personally play all the courses around Joliet regularly, so if anyone wants to play some casual rounds there, shoot me a pm. I also figure we could use this thread to organize a larger, perhaps statewide meet?

Joliet is pretty out of the way for me to join up for a round, but I would be down for some sort of meet-up event.

Count me in, I am always up for meeting new playing partners. I recently moved from Wheeling to Riverside, and all my old discing buddies have no interest in playing new courses.

(I persuaded a friend to come down, and I drove him to Highland Park in Joliet. It rained for like 2 minutes, and he quit after 12. Never again...)

If you are going for a big meet with lots of people, maybe a more centralized location like Lombard, Elk Grove, Oakbrook, etc. would be an option. But I dig the Joliet courses a lot and still have to hit up a good number of them.

Joilet is 2 hours or so from myself and i play bloomington's 3 courses quite a bit. its a drive for me to play anywhere since i live in decatur and there is no courses here.. but i like to travel to different courses as much as i can

None at all, it was hilarious. I've never seen someone get spit out on a drop in until that.

That was pretty ridiculous.. Its almost an art form to get solid putts on those baskets everytime. When a mini sticks in the basket and my actual putter doesn't, somethings wrong.. and those Meteors I got are stayin with me. You might wanna ask Superberry If he has any Meteors with the WPDGC stamp on it left. Pretty sweet stamp with a GREAT price to back it up! He left a link on my page.

It is the best course in the area, right? It looks like a good enough course for a little trek.

I was hoping to make it out there by 11am or so. Anyone else in for another day at highland?

Not a promise but I might show up as well(Sun.). I like Highland a LOT. It's a great challenging course. But In my opinion, I think I like Eagle ridge a bit better. I don't know why, I just do.. And I'm itchin to try the pro tees at Eagle Ridge. As the shots change COMPLETELY... And Mr. MichaelWebster, If you interested you could ride a train out to Aurora Saturday mournin and I could scoop ya from the station. I pass right by it on the way to Eagle Ridge, Oswego.. Just an option!

the crew usually starts up at 9:00.
it takes about 2 1/2 hrs. to complete around (depending on how many times we chuck discs into s***!)
but,i (we) can start up at whatever time works.especially since your the one making the drive.

crowds get bigger at like 1-2 on saturdays at channahon, but if we're going to play both, I'd definitely play west park first, it gets wayyy more packed in the afternoon than channahon ever is

Channahon is a great course! My only beef with that course is the sunshine... A lot of the course is unshaded and it can get VERY hot out there. Obviously Im out next weekend (Highbridge!!!!) but the courses I think we should/could hit up for future "day trips" are Grey Fox Park, Rogers Lakewood Park, Lemon Lake Park, Eureka Lake DGC, or any other Peoria courses.. Just throwin those out there! I'm able to drive/ carpool as well. I'm diggin this weekly DGCR meet up/play deal! A lot of fun!!

Has anyone played that Olympia Fields (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=81) course? Any input on that one?

Yeah, I played it once. I wouldn't really recommend it. The map did not match up with the actual holes, and it was hard to follow. One of the holes plays right next to a soccer field, and there was a game going on when I was there. There was a lot of non-dg activity around. I had two kids riding their bike through our fairway for a couple of minutes (there's a playground on site). The baskets were old and falling apart, the tee signs were gone on most holes, tee pads were in bad shape or missing. This course just didn't do it for me.

So I figured I'd do a head check and see who all, if anyone, is still up for this west park - community park meet up this saturday, and what's the best tee time for all those involved, or we can just fall back to the 9am tee off like usual, it works well.

I'm not completely sure, but if we follow our pattern from the last three weeks, it'll be saturday morning, and we'll play all day

tee off is usually 9am, but i'd assume it'll be later than that due to the longer travel. but we've been putting in 4-5 rounds usually, at multiple courses, so its a 9-5 kinda deal,

the course is up to Noill though, since he's driving.

Went from 2 cars down to 1 for the household last week. Also, I'm willin to bet most courses this time of year are starting leagues on Saturdays/Sundays all over the place with the sun going down earlier and earlier. Im sorry, I thought you were discussing RLW which only charges in the summer from Memorial->Labor day.

If you get to Lemon Lake before 9 there is nobody at the gates to charge you. Otherwise it is the $4 Lake county residents/$7 non.

Great rounds as always...
WCG, GDBP, Arche, me and WCG's ride played out Red, Gold and White... Gold took us quite awhile.
Red was awesome :thmbup:
Gold killed... I lost some confidence at this one :wall:
White was pretty fun.. some short but nicely technical holes :thmbup:

Arche and I finished up Blue :thmbup: after the rest took off to wives and bars.
We played the front 9 in the dusk, then we glowed the back 9 (which was the best part of the day IMO.. I luv glo rounds!)... the park manager found us leaving (last ones) and was worried that we died or got hurt on the Gold course (assuming we were glowing on that one).

Agent Peabody cried about his tailbone so didn't show... we assume he is just a posting and dyeing robot and isn't a real person at all. :D

Arche and I finished up Blue :thmbup: after the rest took off to wives and bars.
We played the front 9 in the dusk, then we glowed the back 9 (which was the best part of the day IMO.. I luv glo rounds!)... the park manager found us leaving (last ones) and was worried that we died or got hurt on the Gold course (assuming we were glowing on that one).

where: foundation park disc golf complex
time: registration starts @ 7:00 until 8:40
players meeting @ 8:45
first round starts @ 9:00
(i know this is a bit early,especially for anyone travelling,but a round at centralia can last 3hrs. that means we may not get things wrapped up until about 5:00p.m. or so and i don't want players struggling to finish in the dark.)

format: Bring your own partner for 2 rounds of 18 on the champ side of the park.
the "666" means that during each round the 1st six holes will be of a particular type, 2nd six another type and 3rd six yet another.
example: holes 1-6 best shot between partners.
holes 7-12 alternate shots thru completion of all six holes.
holes 13-18 best hole (both players complete a given hole and decide which score to mark on scorecard.)
now the above examples are not necessarily the "fixed" modes of play.
we have yet to decide on said modes and the order that they will be used.
so... if anyone has an interesting/fun way that they have played doubles before,post up and we'll consider.
It WILL be posted BEFORE tournament what modes will be used.
there will also be extra "hazards/O.B." on the course for added "fun" during this event.
AND.... a hanging basket (like last year, on hole 17).

Remember...."it's all about the fun!!" (and challenge! )

cost: $20 per team (this is NOT a santioned PDGA event)
