I have tags from two different groups here..one, ADG (Always Disc Golf) is a tag my crew exchanges evertime we play. The other tag is a course tag for Buffalo Ridge (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=917), which we only exchange when we play the Ridge.
Yesterday we had our normal two rounds at the Ridge. I played mediocre and finished with the #26 Ridge and #31 ADG tag. After the rounds were done I went to the guy who one both rounds and had totally annihilated the 10 guys there. I challenged him to a CTP for tags. I said, "Lets throw to that light pole over there." He accepted. The course is adjacent to a ball field, so we stood at one light pole and threw to one about 240' away across the field. I volunteered to go first since I made the challenge. I threw my disc and it stopped 10' from the pole. He threw his and was about 15' away. On the way to the discs I said that since he was gracious enough to accept the challenge, we should do the same thing on the way back. He said sure. I went first again and put my shot 10' away again. His was about 13'. Since I gave him a chance to get the tags bag, but I still won, I took home the #1 ADG and the #3 Ridge. Nice way to end the round!!!

Not a cool way to earn a tag. You gotta play a full round for it. You scammed an idiot!

Why is it uncool? Not only did I challenge, I defended the challenge on the spot. This player is far and away superior to me in ability. It would normally be next to impossible to get such good tags. I challenged, he accepted, then I gave the challenge back. That is neither uncool nor unfair.
so again, why is it uncool?

I have played more games than just a straight up round to earn tags. My crew has played Wolf for tags, we play doubles for tags. If everyone involved agrees what is the problem? And if your answer is something along the lines of,"Cause it's not done that way", or "My crew doesn't do it like that" don't bother because we won't see eye to eye.
and in case you are wondering, everyone in my crew thought it was awesome. And both of us were congratulated, me for making the challenge, and the other guy for accepting.

When do you guys play? I'm in the valley and have never heard of the ADG crew. I wouldn't mind playing with you gentlemen sometime.

Oh yeah, and who was it that you challenged?

ADG is the crew that plays every Friday afternoon around the valley. Winner calls next weeks course and lays out ground rules. They started in CA., and still have some members there and a few members in NM, but most of them are in Phoenix.
We play the Ridge every Sunday morning--6am right now but I suspect we'll be changing to 6:30 pretty soon. Be aware, though, first round is Shenanigans--a boat load of ridiculous OB's. I had 6 birdies and 5 shenanigans this past Sunday and finished even for the round. A normal round would have had me at -5. C'est la vie.

Oh yeah, and who was it that you challenged?Well I don't want to mention his name w/out permission, but he won the Lemmon Drop, The Show Low Daze and finished second in Top of the Pines...way beyond my measly caliber.

I figured it was him when Buffalo Ridge was mentioned. I know JW pretty well, and he is pretty damn good. Hard to believe he was playing as an AM this time last year. Matter of fact, he and I were at The Jerry the last few days. Congrats on beating him for CTP (closest to pole)

Any victory over him is a sweet on.
I remember when he started playing. his first round was Thanksgiving weekend of '06. Such a young pup then!!! :)

Side note: Is there an AZ. forum or website? I live in North Phoenix, 10 minutes from Buffalo Ridge. My buddy and I just started playing DG about a week ago and I was wondering if there were any sites for leagues or info. for local games? Thanks- Josh

Forgot to mention that I found a disc out at Buffalo on Friday afternoon. It seems like you may know a lot of players and you frequent the course a lot. The disc had Chad T. on it with no contact info. Just wondering if you may know him by a slim chance. Thanks-

There is a group page for the AZDGC on Yahoo. You can also get information from Spinners' website. www.spinnersonthegreen.com

Spinners is the best place to find out league stuff in Phx. As for the disc I don't know anyone named Chad. If there's no # on it, take it to spinners and you'll get $2 bucks for it, then they will post on their lost and found and Chad may have a chance to reclaim it.
