I've noticed a significant amount of bumping going on in the marketplace, both overt and sneaky. Seeing a dozen threads with "bump" posts in them tends to annoy people and also tends to bury newer threads, both bad things. I thought this feature would be a good solution for serious sellers that really want to get their threads noticed without worrying about where it falls in the thread list.

After you post a thread, if you're the original poster, you can go to the Thread Tools menu and choose to sticky your own thread. This is what it looks like:

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7282&stc=1&d=1284571138

You can choose the duration of the sticky (up to 7 days) and you will need a paypal account. The price is $1/day.

this is a good idea. I tend to only bump them when I add new things as opposed to making a hole new thread.

nice idea. i think it will make the site some money, and hopefully eliminate bumping. (i know I do it occassionally)

Despite my desire to get my for sale threads bumped, this is a great idea. I have a feeling that I'm going to be investing $5 shortly...

Great idea! I just "Stuck" mine! The Marketplace has been especially busy lately...I've found myself on page 3 within one day...

This might also help seeing the actual market threads of the the threads that have more chit-chat than dealing going on.

Great idea!

You mean like the 3 pages of banter last night on my thread while everyone waited for Booter to finally list his stuff? :)

Sorry, Timg...

I think it would be nice if bumps were allowed once per day or similar time period.

Actually, at one point this summer timg had it set up so that the Marketplace wouldn't resort based on last post, but just based on the original thread start. I'm assuming that it's going to revert to that format to support the sticky topics.

I'm in agreement on the "wanted" sub category.

Interesting idea...

then you will just have people making new threads

That's been happening alot lately, every couple of days...but you either have this or creative bumping...

What about a sub forum for the want adds?

Really good idea, at least with it separate, it can get more attention and spend more time in the first page.

So far, I'm diggin' the STICKY. Getting alot of attention and it's allowed me to keep one thread alive.

Does 1 day run for 24 hours from the time you pay, or until midnight of the day you pay?
